Hey everyone! Thanks for the support yesterday ... I'm bipolar so it is up and down ... it bites the big one  Dh totally enjoyed the Chicken Tortilla Soup last night (Pioneer Woman) ... he said that this is the only soup I should make from now on  Dh is going to the RV show tonight with his buddy ... dude had better not buy an RV  Dd#1 works tonight so that just leaves me and dd#2 ... that equals takeout  I'm not sure what I'll have but I'm just happy that I don't have to cook it  Sorry about the language but this meme that I posted on FB this morning is perfect for the Peas!  What is on your menu tonight? |

Almost dinner time here, and DH is on duty. We are having lamb on the BBQ with baked potatoes and some other veggies.
I love the meme, and am so glad I no longer have to contend with that problem - upside of walking to the grocery store!

leannec, you have a disease that tries to keep you on a roller coaster of emotions. Just know that no matter what, you have a dinner tribe that is here to support you and enjoy your memes. Good one today, btw. Dh is going to pick ds up at work. Then they'll run and errand and go to Chipotle. I'm still resting most of the time, so I appreciate another night off.

You'll never guess what the weather is like in my neck of the woods.. Yep, it's been raining pretty much non stop since yesterday evening.
We want to make a library run and the boys have a hair appt at 3. There is also something being filmed in our area. Sandra Bullock and John Malkovich are in it. It's a movie for Netflix I believe. Soooo we may just have to take a drive and try to find where they are shooting!!! They've been up at the river a lot, but they also have rented out our cultural center for other filming.
With all that said.. We're going to have homemade chicken strips with honey mustard sauce, roasted potatoes and some type of green veggie. Maybe broccoli or just a green salad.

I think there's some minestrone soup in the freezer - if not, I know there's loaded baked potato soup. Whatever I find, that's what's for dinner... soup. And a salad, I guess. And homemade chocolate chip cookies.

DH left this morning to go to the Bay Area to do some stuff with our listing coming up next week. He's stopping by DS's townhouse to see if he wants to go to breakfast.
Don't know when he'll be home this evening so that will mean something I can have ready whenever.

The pic is of DD and one of the horses she has on loan (this is Hukengutt, a Norwegian Dølahest), a beautiful day to spend on horseback. I always feel a bit silly when we're out together, since my loan pony is 10 cm shorter than hers, but hey, I'm old and isn't as athletic as I used to be. Much easier to mount a smaller horse.
Dinner? Cod, made with Creme fraiche, mustard, chives and tomatoes.

We’re having a few people, including my ex (heaven help me to keep my mouth closed), here for birthday cake for Ally, who is turning two on Monday. Cake will be preceded by sandwiches or wraps made with cold cuts, veggies and dip, shrimp cocktail, potato salad, chips and dip and olives. And....he just arrived an hour early...yikes!!!!

You all know what's for dinner here on Saturdays......take-out. Since I don't have to make dinner, I thought I'd dirty up my nice clean stove and make soup. It amazes me how messy I can get when making soup. Well, making anything really. And the worst part about it is that I can't blame the mess on anyone but myself. Love the meme, leannec! hop2, I plan a lot of dinners around one particular item that I need/want to use.  KelleeM, he showed up an hour early? ugh He's off to a good start, isn't he? We went to Costco and the grocery store and spent a ridiculous amount of money. But, hey! We got a $5 chicken, so we are having that with French bread and a veggie tray. I will have a Tamiflu chaser after. Interesting story- one of the three people diagnosed with flu at work was diagnosed by a doctor over video chat yesterday afternoon. Today, she was well enough to run a 10k. It's a miracle! (My phone was blowing up after the girl's mom posted pictures that most of the office could see.)

Both DH and I are down with *slight* colds, so we are taking the day to rest up since it is the weekend. Hoping it is just a minor short lived cold.
That being said, it is leftovers night here, or whatever you can scrounge up from the fridge and cupboard. From a quick survey of the fridge, the options are leftover meat pies, Thai salad with leftover baked chicken, or freshly made scrambled eggs. Then in the cupboard this is canned soup, bread etc. No one will starve.

DSO and I found ourselves sans children again so we decided to go out for dinner with the restaurant gift cards we got for Christmas. We shared our entrees and mains:
Arancini of roast pumpkin, honey and fetta with salsa verde aioli
Garlic herb prawns, mango chilli salsa, cabbage herb slaw and crisp vermicelli
Salt and pepper calamari, roquette, red onion and tomato salad, saffron aioli
Pan fried gnocchi, wild mushrooms, baby spinach, brown butter cream and pecorino

Hubby is currently cooking some yummy-looking steaks from a local butcher. We are also having roasted Haricot Verdes, and rice. I sautéed some mushrooms in one pan and then some bacon and onions in another in order to try a fancy it up a bit.
We sure are in a cooking rut at our house! We are well-fed, though, so I'm not really complaining.

I ended up having sautéed veggies ( the squashes with onion, garlic & tomato ) with bohemian forest spice and Parmesan cheese on top. It was good

Having a few friends over tonight. Making flat iron steaks that I sear on the stove and then finish in cast iron skillet in the oven. Roasted brussel sprouts and rosemary smashed potatoes. Brownies with cream cheese frosting and ice cream for dessert.
