I said about the same. When I started scrapbooking it was mid-nineties and I was just entering high school. Scrapbooking, at least in my neck of the woods, was just starting to gain popularity. I LOVED it. My mom and I started out with Creative Memories, and then we soon discovered the Paper Pizazz patterned paper books...patterned paper was a revelation. We bought those books like we thought we would never find patterned paper again. When we found our first LSS it was like heaven. We could not believe it. I scrapbooked all through university, but on a lesser scale, and I didn't have money to buy as much. As soon as I started working though, I continued to scrap and shop. I am now at a point in my life where I have a very healthy stash, a few things I am really excited to document, and I feel like I truly love how my pages look. It's been a very satisfying hobby for me.

I'm in the more camp.
I am way more excited now because I have learned about design and I have grown. I also have a much larger stash and embellishment supply and don't have to make all my own embellishments. Although I dislike that there isn't many lss around and all of the hype is less.

I voted 'same', but I completely agree with you. The scrapping world has definitely changed. My passion is still there, but the lack of stores, crops & retreats, publications, fun stuff in the stores that still carry it and even friends that share my hobby makes me very sad. I'm still scrapping pics from when my sons (ages 21 & 18) were 8 & 5, so I have lots to play with. Part of me is hoping I'll never get caught up because like mom, there will be WAY less photos and I think my enthusiasm will wane. I don't ever want that to happen!!

I voted more excited now...
I started scrapping in April 2002 when my best friend gave me an Easter basket with scrapping stuff to get me started on the hobby SHE has recently gotten into.
I'm more confident now - I have my style, I know what supplies I like and will use, I look back on older pages (okay - maybe not the VERY earliest pages but even from 2003 or so) and still like them for the most part. I'm no longer trying to 'keep up with the (scrapbooking) Jones'' - it's okay my pages are simple and linear and not super embellished and artsy and I don't need to buy the latest and greatest of everything. I scrapbook because I want to.
The downside? I don't have any scrapbooking buddies (except here) and the nearest LSS I know of is nearly 4 hours south of here (and I've never been to it).

Less because my kids are older, the "feeling" around scrapbooking when I started (conventions, 2peas, tons of new product) has become more muted and less exciting, and because I have fallen in love with stamping and card-making--in fact, I DO feel that same sense of excitement that I felt for scrapbooking for card-making now. I fall asleep thinking of designs, i obsess over new stamps, i LOVE collecting (aka hoarding) 6x6 paper and love learning new techniques. I think about colors and inking and design a LOT.
And for the first time since I was a papercrafter, I have my own dedicated space to craft. It's nothing like the rooms you see online--I think of it more as a messy art studio than a pristine "crafter's space). It's just a converted 3rd space in our garage, but it's 90% just for me. DH put up a wall, we painted it, and polished the floor. The laundry is there, as well as DH's tools...and the A/C is a huge issue in the summer (gets boiling in Florida) but DH has promised we'll find a solution before this summer begins.
Regardless of all the negatives, having my own space makes me feel SO blessed. I lived in NYC all my life, and I had a craft armoire and scrapped in the living room...so this is a wonderful change. And finding stamping has made me feel re-invigorated and thrilled.
I have been following Cathy Z on instagram, and it's like we're on a parallel journey--she is a simple scrapper, clean graphic lines, as am I. SHe just started card-making and stamping, and just got her first set of Zig Clean Brush markers, as did I. She is learning new techniques, and lo and behold, I am learning basically the same things as she is. So it's fun to read about her excitement as she learns this new fun craft, because I feel exactly the same way.

I voted the same, but after reading your reasons LavenderLayoutLady I have to agree with you. We had a lot of great stores around here and Archiver’s drove them all out of business and then closed themselves. Now the closest stores are both over an hour away, so many companies went out of business or were absorbed by other companies and there’s a lot less innovation happening with the companies that are left. It’s actually pretty sad when I stop to think about it. I still love it as much as I ever did, but some of the glitter is gone.

I agree with a lot of you. I love scrapping. LOVE it. But 1) I have much less time for it and 2) my kids are older and less changey.
I still have so much to catch up on, so am ready to revisit my scrap room when it gets a little warmer out (it's in the cold, cold basement)

I love scrapbooking just don't get as much time to do it so my excitement is probably less. I WANT to love it as much as I did.

Love reading these answers. I made a mistake and accidentally voted that I am less excited. I cannot seem to figure out how to change it. Anyhow, truthfully I am about the same or even a little more excited. This past week I made a mini album for a friend having a baby (I made the album where she can add her photos and journaling) and a couple of cards. I hadn´t created in a while because we moved a few weeks ago. It felt so good. Afterwards I really cleaned the scraproom and finished organizing it and feel ready to get going again. I forget how good it feels to get in there and make. I just love it.

I am loving it the same but I just wish there were more LSS. The last one closed in our county last week so the nearest is 80 minutes drive away. I love going into a store and feeling the texture of the paper (I don't like thin paper lol) which you can't get if you are shopping online. Also it was lovely to get hints/tips from the people in the stores. I still have items left from when I began scrapping in 2007 but I am getting around to using them with my newer products. They say everything comes around ...hopefully that will mean LSS opening again!
