I think it's a witch hunt wasting taxpayer money. I don't believe there was any collusion. JMHO. But what if you are wrong. Wouldn’t you want to know the truth one way or the other? Yes, but whose truth? I don't think we will ever really know one way or another. Some of these panels that do Senate investigations are laughable. The ones that Ted Kennedy used to be on made me want to vomit. Like he has the right to question anyone about wrong doing. Don't get me started...

(CNN)Former Donald Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo slammed the Senate Intelligence Committee's Russia investigation on Tuesday, charging that the probe has cost him $125,000 and is forcing him to move from the Buffalo area in order to pay off legal bills.
Caputo was interviewed behind closed doors on Tuesday as part of the committee's investigation into 2016 Russian election meddling. He was also interviewed last year by the House Intelligence Committee.""
Trump has stated that he will pay costs/has a fund for those connected in this situation who needed help, although I am having a hard time thinking that $125,000 would break a high level families' finances. Unfortunately I think there will be others who get caught up in this mess, whether they have done something wrong or not. I told my son many times, be careful who you associate with that their problems don't rub off on you. Or maybe guilt by association?

His wife received part of a gun in the mail last week as a threat. That would ruffle my feathers a bit. Totally unacceptable. The ones that Ted Kennedy used to be on made me want to vomit. Like he has the right to question anyone about wrong doing. Don't get me started... Not too many remember Ted's escapades........ He has been asked the same exact questions by two separate panels. Not only can the democrats and republicans not talk to each other, they don't even talk to their own parties. The dueling committees might be something to be address but none of them want to give up their individual powers. dt is not the only one saying me me me......

Trump has not paid his bills and he has no guarantee of that happening. In the interim they have to be paid for current and future legal representation. Michael is FAR from rich. He is a PR person, self employed. He worked on the Trump campaign, and on local campaigns, and on the Bush/Quayle campaign. And a loyal deadhead

For those not familiar with the Korean War, here are the statistics. My dad fought in the war ~ he was a submariner ~ and I was about 3 or 4 so I don't remember when he was gone. What I find striking is that almost as many soldiers died in this war as in the Vietnam War. The Korean War Memorial in Washington DC was haunting to me. Thank you for sharing and your father for his service.

They are a group of individuals trying to do the job they were tasked with. You feel about Kennedy the way I do about Nunes, Gowdy, & Grassley. But regardless how we feel about various members of Congress, we can’t let this go unanswered as a country. We need to know.

Any thoughts on this? I know Michael very casually from the local R circles Senate Interview. They have asked the same questions over and over. In the meantime, crazies are threatening him and his family. Like, "I'll burn down your house with your family inside" crazy. There is not anything in the interview/article about his family or him getting threats. The investigation is lead by Republicans. It is his choice to hire attorneys to represent him in the interviews and to hire such expensive attorneys. It was also his choice to get involved with Donald Trump. I’m not going to feel sorry for anyone here. The only thing I have a problem with is if people are really threatening him/his family. That is obviously wrong and should be prosecuted.

I came onto this thread only because Lauren bashed us for not having started another one on the topic. Honestly, Lefty, I don't know what your deal is. I haven't written any rant here, and I haven't accused anyone of being "blind, rahrahrah Trump fangirls." You're the one who's been ranting from my perspective. I am allowed to have the studied opinion that this is not yet an accomplishment. I'm allowed to think that Trump doesn't have the skills to pull this off. There are plenty of folks on your side of the aisle who agree with me. But because I say it, it's a "rant." Clearly on this thread you don't want any discussion or dissent - so is it really a conservative thread, or is it a "let's bash the liberals and then tell them they're not allowed to respond" thread? That is so totally different from everything I've said! Thank you so much for pointing out the error of my ways. It's news to me that I'm desperately trying to get "you" to acknowledge anything. I know. Why don't you make up why it's so important to me! Wouldn't want you to stop your roll now.

It is unfortunate when someone gets caught up in things that requires paying for ones own legal representation. I've had it happen. Whether or not Trump is indicted in this investigation, they've uncovered a lot of dirty laundry in his administration that needed to be sanitized. Clearly people close to him were doing bad things. I suspect it will be hard to prove he had actual knowledge of it; he's smart enough to know about plausible deniability.

I had a reply all typed with links...and the board burped. Here are some local and national links where Michael discusses the threats: Buffalo News - link Threats after first testimony. CNBC - link Discusses why you need legal protection, including quote from a Connecticut US Attorney WBEN - link Death threats mentioned. I think it's concerning that lives can be ruined because of these investigations. Just because you worked on a campaign. Many people here in WNY worked on Trump's campaign. Belief in a candidate should not automatically subject a person to this. And he has been told today - when meeting with Mueller - that he is not under criminal investigation. link

How do we know Trump hasn't paid his bills? Historically Trump has not paid his bills according to this : USA TodayAnd I find Michael to be an upstanding guy so I don't think he's lying. Obviously that is just my opinion.

I hope they can be reunited with family and are medically doing well. I'm sure the acclimation into a normal life will take time. I hope they get whatever help they need.

I hope so too but given the shape Otto was in, it would be hard to believe they could be after years of being held captive.

And that is a very good thing. Not even gonna add the smart-ass remark that popped into my head. I, a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, am acknowledging it today, May 2nd. Seriously, it IS a good thing, and I hope that they can adapt to today’s society.

As far as the three I named, their actions are damaging to the country today.

I pray they are well enough to rejoin their families and friends. Something tells me they are probably the most healthy looking US prisoners they have.

I did open the CONSERVATIVE thread, didn't I? I thought I was on it the other day and made a comment only to realize I was on the wrong damn thread..... but I digress..... Trey Gowdy is worse than Kennedy leaving a woman to die.

For those that may be interested, following being interviewed by Mueller, Mr. Caputo has raised over $100k. He was also on GMA and CNN today. I, for one , am happy for him.

Anyone hear about what happened today in court with Manafort, Mueller, and the presiding Judge? Basically the Judge has called out Mueller and the prosecution - practically calling them liars. They now have to produce the full, unclassified meno to the judge. I think this could get very interesting. www.cnn.com/2018/05/04/politics/paul-manafort-hearing/index.html

Do you think if it concludes with no findings the country will move forward? I sadly think there will just be something else to investigate and there will continue to be different things to investigate while DT is president.
I wish and hope we can move forward but don't think we will
