Are we seriously arguing over semantics? Five top ISIS leaders were captured. Can we just celebrate the fact that they are in custody? But that would be admitting that there's good news!

But that would be admitting that there's good news! Heaven forbid! Heaven forbid if someone had more info to the story that has been known for days and felt willing to share that info, they're just met with sarcasm and eye rolls and whatever else you chose to throw out there. You obviously don't want the details of how, where or when.

@dottyscrapper, The who, what, where isn’t what I was referring to in your post. It was the word gymnastics that was used.

@dottyscrapper , The who, what, where isn’t what I was referring to in your post. It was the word gymnastics that was used. There wasn't any "word gymnastics" in my original post to Gia. It was a repeat of what the Iraqi PM said as per the report from Reuters as was the rest of the details in that post. Foolishly, I actually thought some might be interested in how the arrest occurred, how wrong can one be!

Foolishly, I actually thought some might be interested in how the arrest occurred, how wrong can one be! How wrong one can be when jumping to such ridiculous conclusions! 5 top ISIS leaders are no longer free. You added all the other stuff - that it didn't just all happen in one fell swoop, that they weren't the 5 most wanted, that no one more interested in this thread than the 432 others on this board knows nor cares about facts. Blahblahblah de blah de blahblah. Same old song. Second verse is worse than the first. Everybody join in.... "You people are so stupid!" I just never get tired of reading how miserable a human being I am. Happy Mother's Day!

I shouldn’t have taken the bait and let myself get drawn into a semantics argument. I was just trying to point out that mainstream news sources such as The New York Times were referring to these captives as top officials of ISIS. They were important and their capture was a big deal!
The story of their capture was fascinating as well!

The following paragraph:
“But this makes liberals feel more powerful than they are. Or, more accurately, this kind of power is double-edged. Liberals often don’t realize how provocative or inflammatory they can be. In exercising their power, they regularly not only persuade and attract but also annoy and repel.”
That’s what I see on this site. And where I think the discord begins.

I have said the following (from the article) since Trump was elected. It’s why he was elected. From the article: And a backlash against liberals — a backlash that most liberals don’t seem to realize they’re causing — is going to get President Trump re-elected.

The entire article was worth repeating. (You're welcome that I did not do that here.) Liberals often don’t realize how provocative or inflammatory they can be. Not just here and not just on social media. I wonder if they realize just how many people are hiding their true feelings in plain sight of them just to get on with their lives and avoid having to face that emotionally passionate onslaught at every turn? I count myself in that number. Conservative friends that I have talked with outside of this board are firmly in that camp as well. Collectively, our lips are publicly sealed. *I* was not shocked by Donald Trump's win. I saw the thousands of people who came to see him 5,6,7 times every.single.day while he was campaigning, while the few who came out to see Hillary when she slipped into my town had to be bearing pretty large checks in hand just to meet with her. The vast majority of the news coverage and those simple facts just didn't agree. The day after the election and for some little time afterwards, I told people here that they should not be so shocked. They needed to look around them more and realize that they have characterized nearly half of the country into some fantastical "other" that doesn't exist. And what did many do instead? They double-downed. Despite the efforts to shut down free speech - on campuses and elsewhere - this is a free nation still. There is a yin and yang dynamic that is reflected in our political structure that governs us, and the dramatic ever-increasing yanking us to the left over recent years created even more tension to go back towards center. Sure, we are a nation that values the individual and individual freedom. More people are deservedly legally covered by our constitutionally recognized rights than ever before. But so are people who are here illegally. Why are we expected to address the one and ignore the other? Why should we believe, let alone care if, as a private citizen, Trump paid women to pee on a bed that Obama had once slept in. In Russia, no less. As if that makes perfect logical sense and is worthy of seeding federal investigations in an attempt to bring down a legally elected and seated President of the United States, while concurrently we are expected to believe that Hillary Clinton is not only an innocent woman, but one worthy of the adoration of our daughters and the seat of American power? It's every bad joke ever told while I was growing up all rolled up into one big pill I'm supposed to swallow whole and I refuse to do it. Today, I chose to voice that here, on this Conservative thread. I do not choose to voice that on those many other threads. This is not a matter to be debated, nor will I "discuss" nor explain myself, so all those who like to tag and/or quote me to berate me can just save yourselves the effort. I know the "facts" just as you do, so spare me the drama. By the by..... the proof, the hard evidence, that we've been waiting - and waiting, and waiting, and waiting - to see is for some reason pointing in the exact opposite direction of what the "facts" demand. I guess I'll just end my inconsiderate hate speech right here and get on with my day.

So many times on Facebook people would proclaim *not one of my friends voted for Trump*. I always wanted to ask *were you in the voting booth with them?*

leftturnonly, 1000x yes. You put it far more eloquently than I. The silent majority, yes? The hysteria and inflammatory rhetoric is tiresome.

Anyone else see this tweet from CNN's Chris Cillizza? Hopefully the SS will be paying him a visit very soon. As reported by Fox News, CNN explained that those aren’t cross hairs, it’s a computer tool used in creating graphics. It was an error that the alignment tool wasn’t turned off once the caption was added. Excerpt here CNN said the following in a statement to Fox News: “Chris has already addressed this issue publicly. The image in question is a framing mark used in film and video production to frame a shot. Nothing more. A producer who created the motion graphic inadvertently left that frame in the GIF. When it came to our attention, the tweet containing the GIF was deleted and replaced with explanation. There is nothing more to say.”
