To purging my drawer of twistel, sticky stitches and magic mesh that I've had forever. Why is it I just can't seem to do it! That stuff is as old as the hills.

Because you know, deep in your soul, that it's all going to come back into vogue one day, and if you purge you'll just have to buy that crap all over again.
I know. I know.

I still hang on to my Twistel, but the rest I would pitch. Twistel is cool stuff. It's s pain to use, but still worth keeping (to me), whether it is in vogue or not. I would be more likely to use it on cards than layouts, though.

I'm hanging on to my Twistel, too, and I loved sticky stitches.
You know what I started playing with again? Magic Scraps shaved ice. Now it's shaker fodder.

I purged all my Magic Mesh into my son's art bin and then got so sick of it sticking to everything that I threw it all out lol.

I like Magic Mesh. Maybe just use some on a layout or two and then pitch it.

I'm obviously too new to scrapbooking products because I've never heard of any of these things! Not even from listening to scrapbookers reminisce about the things they miss or the things they've held onto (admittedly that's most Shimelle, and maybe she never used these products). Tell me why they were so awesome. I'm curious.

I feel that way about my bling. I know it will come back into style and I’ll start using it again.

Hello! Bling is always in style! Doing the whole Downton Abbey mixed with Keeping Up Appearances fainting right now, lol. Bling is life. I just bought some bling this weekend. The only thing I heard of is Magic Mesh. Twistel & Sticky Stitches is a new one to me. I have been stamping for a billion years. Girls you did it. You stumped me, lol. I got rid of my Magic Mesh. I know where it is. My DH has it for patching sheetrock. If I need some I know where to get it.

I'm ruthless and would get rid of all of it. My thought process being that if I didn't use it the first time it was on trend, it's unlikely I will if it comes back. Then when it does come back in style, I'll remember that I threw away a bunch because I didn't use it last time nor after hanging on to it for a long time.

I remember seeing the magic mesh around, but haven't used any of them. I think I'd probably get rid of all of them if I hadn't used them.

Linda thanks for the links! I guess I could've googled those myself (sorry) I guess I might have used something like Twistel, without knowing it was called that. Not for scrapbooking though. It was probably a scavenged gift wrap item. The sticky stitches are kind of interesting. I guess the authentic pierced paper "artisanal" stitching look is more "in" these days. More supplies and classes to sell if you have to stitch it yourself. Rebranded drywall tape?! That's awesome. I bet they have a version for weddings that's even more expensive than the scrapbook version!

I would keep just a piece of the magic mesh for inking through it like a stencil and then peeling it away. That would be a cool looking texture for layering. You could also use with texture paste.

if it's older than sin and you aren't using it anymore, get rid of it. trust me, you will feel better having done it.

Cut the Magic Mesh with a few punches and you have great embellishments.

linda thank you for the links. I kind of remember Twistel's now. I thought it was raffia. You know how our industry is. We can put a cute name on anything and market it. Then the item flies off the shelves. Oh look a cobra. Put a pink ribbon on the cobra and call it a scrapbook cobra. Then cobra is in our shopping carts! Dear Tim Holtz, don't you get any ideas, lol! Sticky stitches looks neat. I like the design. I like the colors. On to magic mesh. Which of course I know. You know a lot of mixed media artists are still using magic mesh. You can line up your die cut alphabets with magic mesh. Or you can fix your drywall. It is paintable.

I was trying to get on this train but then my DD asked me to help her with a project. Wouldn't you know that the solution was a piece of carbon paper I had stashed away for 30 years and never used before this! Now I'm back on the keep it you never know when you will need it train. 😞

I think if you've got the space to keep things then why not. Like you say pas2, you never know! I still love magic mesh but don't think I have any, I always used plasterers tape/drywall tape and coloured it with embossing powder sometimes!

I still use magic mesh or similar in art journaling. I don't have the other items. It will all come back.

I keep older items if I still like them and can think of something to do with them. Anything that just doesn't speak to me anymore leaves the building.
