A military parade?

I think this is funny because if Trump wants a parade, just start paying attention. Wasn't the fly over at the Super Bowl enough? Has he ever even been on a military installation? Every event has a piece of a parade. Want some songs with a cool band on horseback?? We got that! Want a flotilla to fly their pretty flags?? Calvary charge with Blackhawks? How about 2pm? Want to fire a tank? We can do that! Heck- we already do it! Just come visit any military installation. They'll give you a show. The military does pomp very well. Very, very well.

Heck, when Clinton visited Germany the post that "didn't have money for paint" and looked like hell immediately had money for paint. They will shine the turd! We don't need anything special! He - and his generals - all know this. The fact that it is even a consideration is ridiculous.

That said - I was at the Bastille Day parade that they honored America for 9/11. It was nothing special as far as parades, but seeing the American flag flying all over Paris and watching our Soldiers march was quite emotional.

Whose entire “military” service consists of a private boarding-school diploma and five draft deferments. Who used the commissioning ceremony of the Coast Guard Academy’s graduating cadets to bitch about the media’s coverage of him, when he wasn’t confusing the Coast Guard with the Navy. Who couldn’t stand still or remember the words for the National Anthem at Arlington on Memorial Day next to his secretary of defense and Joint Chiefs chairman (but he’s still pretty sure NFL players of color who don’t show sufficient anthem-patriotism should be fired). Who doesn’t have a clue what evening colors are, but surmises they must be for him. Who accessorizes with troops. Who likes “people who weren’t captured;” tells Gold Star families he’s “made a lot of sacrifices;” calls safe sex in the 1990s “my personal Vietnam;” and blames “the generals” for battle casualties.

My DH. a retired AF officer, was gobsmacked when I told him. His words, "It's a Defense Department, not a War Department. That is not what we do." And my son, who is a HUGE military historian fan was shocked. We are NOT like the countries that parade their military might around for everyone to see.

The whole thing is a bad, tasteless idea that the pentagon now has to figure out how to do because they are ordered too. And you know they know how bad it is going to make them look in the public eye.

And Trump is trying to disassociate himself from accusations of collusion with Russia? This is an absurd idea. So glad our country has the money to mount something like this. Just think if we had children going to bed hungry and people living in the streets and without healthcare...

The District of Columbia government said they are not going to pay for this so it may be a no go. They would be in charge of providing police and trash pickup.

Sure, let's spend 17 million dollars on a parade to honor the military instead of...oh, I don't know...giving them a raise? Adding that money to the VA fund? Helping homeless veterans?

And Fox News says it is a great idea and liberals are crazy for saying otherwise.

That was even worse than I expected it to be. Agree with this idea or you don't like your country or respect and honor your military.
