So my damn dog has learned how to open doors. This wouldn't be a huge problem, except she is puppy and searches for anything she can put in her mouth and either chew or swallow.
So I need to doggy proof my house, but the last time we baby proofed we had knobs.
What do you use?

My cat learned to open our lever door handles. She only cared about the basement door so we bought a locking handle and replaced it. Eventually we didn’t have to lock it anymore because she realized she couldn’t open it and lost interest

A baby gate as long as she’s not so small to fit through not so large to get over it.

she's crated at night and when we aren't home, but she gets into rooms and bedrooms when she is out (she also comes in from the outside)

Probably too late for this, but get a corgi. They can't get anywhere near a doorknob.

The third day we had our one year old big rescue dog she learned to open doors. We replaced all the levers with knobs. It was worth it to us. If we ever sell the house we will have to put the levers back so we saved them. In California you can't sell a house that doesn't have levers due to the ADA regulations. Not sure about other states.

Not a single house sold in my area or ones we have looked at have levers. All are knobs. Eta: ADA is only looked at IF you rent the property. Private for sale does not follow ADA

We had a dog that could open knobs. I recently saw a video of a dog opening a tin of tuna by pulling on the ring tag. It was one of those "what did I just see moments?"

My cat does this--we sometimes lock her in the bathroom so she does not "help" us eat dinner.
We actually have a cute video of it.
I saw a recommendation to put a litter box with water in it underneath the door. That way when she jumps up, she will land in the water and take off.
Not sure if it will work for a dog plus it's kind of a mess to wipe up the splattered water but they would probably learn pretty fast.

My dog does opens lever doors and it drives me crazy. It's like living with a toddler all over again. I can't pee or take a bath in peace because he just comes bursting in!

Our front door has a button that you push to retract the lock before pushing the lever handle.
My damn collie mix can open it- pushes the button, waits for the lock, pulls the handle. We have to block the door with a pile of chairs and go out the garage or just deal with the door being wide open when we get home. We have a gate that locks and walls so no one can still get in, just bugs and cold or hot air.
Lola sucks😂
So basically, I got nothin. She can do knobs too but the baby plastic things stop that.

I can't pee or take a bath in peace because he just comes bursting in! but then the same dog when comes in messy/wet and I put up a baby gate to limit house access until dry, goes into the available bathroom and closes the door behind him. Then he starts to bark and cry for help hoping to be rescued from solitary confinement (in his mind). The first time he did it I thought he probably pushed door closed trying to get a lost toy or something. Not so much. Has been known to do it repeatedly until baby gate is taken down. Sneaky thing.
