crimsoncat05 I agree 100%. I have to see it to use it, and the same goes for my Cameo, Minc, Vagabond and now Scan-N-Cut. It has to be ready to turn on and go. If I have to start hauling stuff out of the closet or from under the desk and then go hunting for a plug, by the time the thing is hooked up and ready to use, I probably will have forgotten why I pulled it out in the first place! Hence, the desk space - and I still wish I could have a great big island to work on! But maybe that will be when I convince DH that the entire basement needs a re-do and I can make my craft room big enough for the island I've been dreaming of!

I love your space too! Can’t wait to see how it looks all done. I agree about needing a lot of counter space. If my cameo and other items aren’t out I won’t use them. I have a standing desk and my cameo sits on an ikea Alex drawer unit and since I have enough clearance I can actually slide it under the desk. Might be an option for you if you want to get a little more desk real estate.
I am in the middle of a purge too, I wish I had the nerve to take everything out of my room, but I think my husband would die if it was all piled in the living room while I purged and reorganized.

AWESOME idea! I have enough Alex drawer units to create a lot of extra "storage" space! I really need to get this standing desk thing going!!
Yeah, DH makes enough comments when the stuff is IN my room. Moving it all into the family room and seeing it piled up created a whole new set of comments...

^^^ that is absolutely why I only move stuff around in the room, never pulling it all OUT of the room, lol! my boyfriend already gives me the side-eye when he sees that I've gone shopping... if it was all spread out, I'd definitely hear about it!
I also like the standing desk idea for making storage room underneath the desk. Plus, I like to stand to look at my pages sometimes anyway... and sitting hunched over at the desk for too long hurts my back.

We can fit a lot of stuff in even the tiniest of spaces...it doesn't mean that we don't need room to spread out and figure out how to optimize it once in a while.

Awesome I just did mine as well, organized and clean! Probably took 10 hours. It was so dusty and dirty from no use. I will sell everything I don't want. Good luck! Put everything you didn't want far away and don't let in back in.

It looks great! Sometimes even just taking everything out and putting it back, even in the same place, is like having a whole new set-up.

So I ended up spending a good chunk of my weekend reorganizing again! I couldn’t wrap my head around having the room look the same as it did before all the work I put in last week, and I really wanted an adjustable desk, or at the very least a decent standing desk. So, I ended up at Ikea again to return the desk I bought and got an idea in my head to buy another 4 cube Kallax unit and some adjustable feet. I was thinking I could combine the 4 cube Kallax with the one I already have and not only have a stand up desk but also some much needed storage space. And after putting it together I discovered that I don’t have a Kallax... it’s an Expedit, and as similar as you think they are, they are different enough to have my original idea not work at all. So it took a lot of rethinking, moving furniture and then moving it again, but I finally have a space I’m happy with. I put a couple of things back up on the wall, but I’m still rethinking if and where to put a few other things-like that big Making Memories storage thing that’s currently sitting on the table. I’m pretty sure it has to stay because of the things that I keep on it, but I’m still trying to figure out exactly where to put it. Either on the wall right where it is, or maybe on the wall to the right of my computer. I think it may make more sense to have it to the right of my computer but I’m struggling with the fact that it may make that side look too cluttered, so for now it sits. And now I have to work on the closet... I saw a Hemnes unit online from Ikea that I love, and the size is perfect, but I think the cubbies may be too small. Looks like I’ll be heading back again this weekend to see it up close and take some measurements. As much as I think I want it, the best thing to do is probably just add adjustable shelves. Might not look as nice, but I need it to be functional.

Nice set up. I'm going to IKEA today and I've got another 1x4 Kallax (my current 1x4 is Expedit and yeah they are slightly different) on my list and now (because of you) two ALEX drawers!. I currently have two 2x2's and love that I have room to put stuff on top, but the Alex is a bit shorter. I'll have to make a pedestal and paint it to match. I have the black-brown color. Anyway, your room looks great.

ooh, the Alex units with the desktop on are nice! that might be the solution for me to getting a higher desk, with the added bonus of storage space!!

Sorry to send you off to Ikea to spend $$... My entire craft room is from there and I could still spend a fortune buying more stuff for it! Yeah, who knew that the Kallax and Expedit were that much different! I put adjustable feet on both units and that raises the desk up to a perfect standing height for me (I'm 5'9"). I used to have the table resting on the Expedit but having the feet has brought it up to a more comfortable height. And I love my Alex drawers! They hold so much and are so functional. If my room were a little bigger, I'd have at least one more! Initially I wasn't happy about the space between the one unit and the table top, but then I realized I have a place to put my Scan-N-Cut and now I love it! I've got two sewing machines stored underneath the shorter table in the corner. I'm going to make a cart so I don't have to crawl under the desk to pull them out! LOL - Just a piece of melamine cut to size with some rollers and a knob or handle to pull it out. Still so much to do! crimsoncat05, Alex units with a desk resting on top are really quite short. You would have to add feet on the bottom, or even between the table and the Alex unit, which I've seen on Pinterest and considered doing myself, to make the table sit a little higher.
