Happy Sunday, everyone! We had a taste of summer on Friday - 83 degrees in North Carolina! With a record high temp, summer is on my mind. (Especially when it was rainy and 43 the next day!) For today’s color challenge, I went looking for an inspiration picture that reminded me of the hot summer days that I know we will be seeing before long. Welcome to Sensational Summer! Bright colors and sweet treats make me want summer - and summer vacation - to arrive soon. For my take on the challenge, I chose a photo that I’d recently developed from 2007. It’s a trip I took in the spring with my parents to Mexico. It sure felt like summer though! I left the yellow side open for journaling later. The inspiration picture called for me to use some of my October Afternoon papers. I can’t wait to see what you create for your Sensational Summer challenge!

Great colour inspiration! Makes me think of creamsicles. Love your sample page, too, lilacgal. Might have to lift it! I have tons of summer scrapping supplies that have been confined to a dark drawer for too long...

Great colours lilacgal and I love your LO, great design, very balanced. Here's mine, the colours reminded me of old Basic Grey so I went digging and found some. It's a few different collections here, Urban Prairie, Phoebe and Lime Rickey. Man I miss BG!

Love your sunshiney photo, kiwigirl, and how you packed all the colour and elements into that broad horizontal line that supports it. Love that the word "sunshine" is that colour! As I was wondering what to do, my eyes strayed to a box of Recollections washi tape that had most of the colours, so I decided to make a card using them as my base. happy nth by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Could probably make a gazillion cards with this design and still never run out of washi , but this is a start!

Great card! What a wonderful idea to use all that washi tape. I’ve avoided buying washi for years but I really like the purple chevron tape you used. Must resist the urge to buy! Lovely work. Whomever receives this card will love it.

Ha ha, lilacgal, I gravitated to that purple tape when I looked at the collection of them in the Recollections box. It wasn't until now I realized it was one colour that was NOT included in this challenge! But that strip seems right at home there, so it will stay

Here's my pup snuggled in her blanket. This blanket was crocheted with a bunch of leftovers and came out all rainbow colored.

Here's the right side a Disney 2 pager (I'm still working on the left side with pics of the castle). I used papers from a 6x6 AC pad called #summer, and I even used some Heidi Swapp photo corners. Remember those? lilacgal, I love the colors you chose, and are those hearts cut from fabric? It's hard to tell, but I really like them. kiwigirl, oh I miss the Basic Grey too. You're so lucky you planned ahead by buying it up when you did! grammadee, I love the foiling! jeremysgirl, what a sweet photo - and a pretty blanket too. Your page is beautiful. I love the butterflies for your sleeping puppy. Thanks for the summery color inspiration, lilacgal. I'm off to shovel some snow now.

jeremysgirl, that is a beautiful blanket. And it looks very soft and comfy. No wonder the pup loves it! I love the butterflies on your page. msliz I love your layering. The ice cream cone and the happy sun are the perfect summery embellishments.

I’m suddenly wondering if I have the 6x6 pad. You’ve got me thinking! Your layout is gorgeous. I need to work on my Disney album. The bright colors are perfect with the sunny day in your photo. Yes, the hearts are felt. They came in a kit this month. They’re not something I would usually use but were sitting on my table while I was creating the layout. I felt they worked even if they weren’t a perfect color match to the papers. I’m so sorry you had to shovel snow after doing this beautiful layout. So, so sorry.

What a cute slice of life, stinkerbelle! I love how your stitched hearts both use all lilacgal's colours AND mimic those cute tummy tattoos.

Thanks for the summery color inspiration, lilacgal . I'm off to shovel some snow now. I’m so sorry you had to shovel snow after doing this beautiful layout. So, so sorry. LOL, I only had to do the walkway, so it wasn't so bad. It was just kind of funny after having re-lived the summer temperatures in memory all morning. stinkerbelle , I love the heart background - I had to jump up out of my seat, look through my scraps, and punch out 20 pink hearts, all in different patterns, for a Hello Kitty layout. Gotta seize the inspiration when it strikes - Thanks! ETA: I just finished the other page of the layout. Here ya go.

I love, love, love this Sensational Summer color palette. A breath of summer on a very cold & snowy day here in Colorado. However, I tend to scrap chronologically & most of my summer pics have already been scrapped for the last couple of years. Then I found this set of photos I hadn't done yet from 2010. This is a digital layout. 28-4-28 by Pati Nuce, on Flickr

This layout is mostly photos, but my title and journal block has summery colours. I had it in my scrap pile from when I was experimenting with alcohol inks (I think) on photo paper. LOAD17 by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr

Here is my submission for this challenge. Away at a retreat with no access to print photos, so the photo that will go on this page is shown as well.

another photo-less layout for me tonight but it's the very last layout needed for my 2017 album
I was inspired by the colour palette and choose to use the pink/green/turquoise. I choose a pink butterfly pp from Paper Studio's Pixy Stix stack for my background. Matted a printed poem by DD17 on a green PP from the stack in lieu of a 8x6 photo. added computer journalling at the bottom (also matted in teh green PP) and used a 2" punch to punch circles from both the green and the butterfly (centering on a blue butterfly) and pop-dotted them together to accent the top left corner of the layout overlapping the poem.

Shoot - I just realized I broke one of my basic rules. Don't face things off the page, they should go toward the middle of the page. Funny that I didn't catch that until now. Rakenfratz, I have to redo it.
