This is the THIRD freakin’ time the ACA will be before the Supreme Court. The GOP has been trying to gut this law since its inception. Which wouldn’t be so offensive and disgusting if it wasn’t for the fact that they have nothing to offer as a viable alternative.
The arguments by the Texas coalition in this third case, to put it charitably, are simply ludicrous. I really don’t see Roberts buying their arguments. We won’t see a decision on this for a long while because this isn’t on this term’s docket; it’s scheduled for next term which begins in October.
Approximately 23 million people will lose coverage and on top of that we have approximately 30 million unemployed workers who will need either marketplace plans or Medicaid.
But they never think about the human cost and without doubt, such a thought doesn’t even occur to Trump. This, to me, is the most offensive part.

www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/2/22/17033588/trump-obamacare-preexisting-conditions"Republicans weren’t able to repeal Obamacare in Congress. Now the Trump administration appears to be settling for the second-best thing: weakening Obamacare’s insurance regulations, changes that will hurt Americans who are older and sicker while benefiting the young and the healthy. The Health and Human Services Department published new rules Tuesday that widen access to “short-term” health plans, a small subset of insurance products that are meant to cover short gaps in insurance coverage. The Obama administration aggressively regulated these plans, allowing insurance companies to sell them only as 90-day options. The Trump changes allow insurance companies to sell the skimpier plans for a year, encouraging many more people to buy them and use them as a more regular source of coverage. Officials are also considering allowing insurance companies to extend them further.... For example, it hasn’t intervened in I daho, where regulators recently told insurers they can simply disregard many of the Affordable Care Act rules and sell new “freedom plans” that discriminate against sicker enrollees.Typically, you’d expect the federal government to get involved — to step in and enforce federal law when a state refuses. But when pressed by a reporter on this issue Tuesday, HHS Secretary Alex Azar demurred." As soon as the laws allow options for plans w/exclusions and/or higher rates for pre-existings, the insurance companies can go back to making pre-existings coverable only at completely inaccessible rates, And we can go back to people w/o access to healthcare turning up at the ER to treat any condition AND going into medical bankruptcy to pay the bill when it comes.

Not so stealthy now. Obamacare Must 'Fall,' Trump Administration Tells Supreme Courtwww.npr.org/2020/06/26/883819835/obamacare-must-fall-trump-administration-tells-supreme-court"Eliminating the ACA would end medical insurance for more than 20 million Americans. It would also end widely popular provisions of the law, such as extending parents' coverage to children up to the age of 26 and prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage based on preexisting conditions." Get ready to pay A LOT more if you have preexistings OR not be able to be covered AT ALL in some plans. We are self employed. We have to get our health insurance through ACA. There were no other options for a company as tiny as ours. We pay $2500 a month for our family of 6 to have shitty coverage that we can barely afford to use. But you know what? As much as that Bill sucks every month, I don’t even want to begin to think about what the bills would look like if one of my kids broke another bone. Or something worse. They would be astronomical, and we would wind up on the streets. I sincerely hope they don’t strike it down. Because the thought of getting sick with literally anything without health insurance in this country makes me hyperventilate and feel physically ill.

That’s a nice video advocating for the need for gun control you just shared. Not sure what it has to do with a thread on health insurance?

This is all a big joke to you isn’t it? My sister has asthma, really bad asthma. Twice she had to spend several days in the hospital because she had attacks so bad she was barely breathing. And she takes care of herself and still had these bad attacks. Prior to the ACA that eliminated pre-existing conditions she had to worry about keeping her healthcare insurance and had to make decisions about jobs just so she could keep her healthcare insurance because she couldn’t buy insurance on the individual market that was worth anything. The fact you think this is a big joke says a lot about you and not in a good way.

All self employed people in our state have to be on ACA. There are no longer any private options. It sucks. This was the one thing that I was hoping the republicans would “fix”. But they have offered ZERO ideas. They have no clue how to make it better. They don’t like what Obama made, but won’t admit they can’t think of anything better.

If you are so WAY covered go share it. Pick a BLM looter and pay for their medical care. Yeah yeah yeah I am sure you already have...........

Back to the topic: Short-term 'junk' plans widely discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions "Dive Brief: A yearlong probe by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce into bare-bones insurance plans encouraged by the Trump administration found widespread discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions, even as a growing number are enrolled. Top congressional Democrats investigated eight insurers selling short-term, limited duration plans, finding they all denied medical care claims if they found a consumer had a pre-existing condition. Some refused to pay for medical claims for no discernable reason, processing them only after consumers sued or complained to state regulators. Most rescinded coverage if they determined a member had a pre-existing condition or developed one later. An HHS spokesperson defended the coverage as an affordable option to pricier Affordable Care Act plans, telling Healthcare Dive, "We've been abundantly clear that these plans aren't for everyone." America's Health Insurance Plans made similar points, with spokesperson David Allen noting: "For Americans with pre-existing conditions, they may not be protected at all." Dive Insight: The investigation looked at 14 companies that sell or market the plans, including eight insurers such as market giants Anthem and UnitedHealth Group, and six brokers. It found insurers frequently turned down consumers with pre-existing conditions and discriminated against women, turning down applicants who were pregnant or planning to become pregnant and charging women more than men for the same coverage. The plans had significant coverage limitations. Some excluded routine care like basic preventive visits and pelvic exams. Some plans had hard coverage cutoffs that left consumers with massive medical bills. In one case, a consumer was billed a whopping $280,000 and lost coverage after being treated for an infection. The insurer said the patient previously had gotten an ultrasound that was "suspicious for deep venous thrombosis."" www.healthcaredive.com/news/short-term-junk-plans-widely-discriminate-against-those-with-pre-existing/580556/

Neanderthal type guys grunting as they walk with AR-15s slung over their shoulders to compensate for small bits on their bodies and wearing red MAGA hats. AKA trump mini-mes. Instead of trying to derail threads why don’t you address issues. Give us an idea what you think. Like this one tweeted by Chuck Schumer on the items McConnell & Co didn’t think were important enough for the American People so they blocked them. “Here’s what Senate Republicans BLOCKED this week: Resources for state & local governments & tribes Funding for COVID testing & tracing Resources for elections Resources for schools & nursing homes Food assistance Protections for workers Protections for Dreamers Rental assistance” What you think shouldn’t be a flat grunt of “don’t like them”. Tell us why.

Arguing with stupid undereducated people make you as stupid as they are. You are just inviting an infestation of mouth breathers to manipulate you into responding. You may look at it that way, that is certainly your choice. And I chose to look at it differently. First of all I’m not “arguing “ with her. Well maybe that is how you argue, I don’t know, but it’s not how I argue. What I’m doing is inviting her to participate instead of being a shit disturber. I really would like to know what trump supporters like her think about issues. I provided her a list of items that could actually help a lot of trump supporters during this pandemic crappy economy period. Items that were blocked by her own party. As far as the description of male trump supporters. I mean did you see the pictures of those guys who felt the need to surround the State House in Michigan because they didn’t like what the Governor was doing? Pretty accurate description I think. Kind of describes trump without the gun when you think about it. Now we have both voiced our opinions and I didn’t call you stupid in the process of expressing mine. So on this we are going to disagree... ET- It was Michigan where the crazies came out with their guns, not Minnesota.
