I have found that not all Ulta's are created equal. Some are friendly and helpful, others seem to look right through you when you walk in. They seem more intent on waiting on the younger women and not the 70-year-olds. And I'm thinking my age group has more money to spend! Happy birthday! My mom is 80 and our Ulta that is nearby is AWESOME to her every time she goes in and has a question.

I have an Ulta 5 miles from my house but I will drive 20 miles to go to Sephora. I have tried Ulta more than once but the sales people are less than helpful and twice I went looking for help and people seemed to be avoiding me. At Sephora they are more than willing to help and I love that they will give you samples for things you want to try.
The people at Sephora seem happy to be working there. The people at my Ulta do not.
Sadly, I have had the same experience at Sephora as Ulta.

Cleanser......for years now I've just used Noxema. My dd is now using it too. It does a great job and my skin feels clean when I'm done.

I just saw your update and it sounds like you had a good experience at Ulta. I’m about 8 months from 50 and skin care has become my obsession . I’m currently using a combination of Paula’s Choice (doesn’t dent the wallet too much) and Skinceuticals (ChaChing!!!). I wanted to mention the daily sunscreen I’ve been using though. It’s the EltaMD UV Daily Broad Spectrum SPF 40 I’ve been hesitant in the past to use extra sunscreen on top of what was already in my foundation because my facial skin is very sensitive and sunscreens tend to make me break out, but this formula has been great so far. It’s mineral based but it doesn’t give your skin a white cast. It absorbs well and has hyaluronic acid in it which helps keep your skin hydrated. It comes in a tinted version as well, though my makeup looks really good over it. And I haven’t had any breakouts since I started using it! It’s the line my dermatologist uses so I’m confident it’s good quality. Have fun in Florida!

I do love R&F. I use the Soothe line for sensitive skin. It's the only thing that doesn't turn me red and itchy. Nothing is cheap these days that's for sure! How much is the Soothe Line if you don't mind me asking.

I go to ULTA when I know exactly what I want. For makeovers, it's Sephora all the way. I have tried a lot of different moisturizers, and Cerave works better than anything pricey. It's only $16 for a huge tub. My go-to mascara is IT Superhero. I recently started using Cerave and I love it. It is not working great for my eyes though The joys of thin skin and turning 50.
Same, I used to use Cerave, but it made my eyes puffy.
