I wish I had a neighbor with chickens that would visit me, I’d be happy to give them treats & not care one bit if they scratched up my flowerbed.

you'd think they'd enjoy the space. apparently it's not good enough for these wanderlust.
I'm actually in the car while he's in the store looking at netting options right now. If we go that way were going to have to put some kind of panel in for food deposits.
our yard is kind of a community garden of sorts. the neighbors on all sides and a couple of people down the street hook them up with their kitchen scraps each night, they compost with us and then they help with the garden in the summer and we all kind of share the harvest.
I'm concerned if we don't have an easy way to feed them theyll end up opening the gate and letting them out, or other critters in. I'm good with them pitching leftovers over the fence.
I have a feeling this is going to turn into a project, I'm hoping I can make nice with the neighbors and let him deal with the hens if I'm being honest.
they've had a stern talking to and we moved the coop so it's against the garage and away from the fence and changed the roof, hoping that keeps them in but we will see for sure when we get home.
we changed the angle of one if the coop cams to keep an eye out mostly because I'm insanely curious and super nosy.

Take her a dozen eggs as a peace offering. How many chickens do you have? I love that they have the run of your whole backyard. We have 11 right now. Nugget Tender Bessie Falco Jade Sassypants Red Rizzo Henny Penny and Sarah She is on my regular egg delivery list, I try to bribe the ones who are close enough to hear their singing with eggs first so that they don't get annoyed. they're crazy, but they keep us entertained.

This is one of the offenders. Looking back, I suppose there were signs that she was going to be trouble.

We have a lot of predatory wildlife in our area so we don’t want our chickens running loose, not to mention the damage they could do to the neighbor’s $$$$$ landscaping. We bought a bunch of 6’ tall metal dog kennel panels that we connected together to create a decent sized fenced area around two sides of their coop including the door side. On one end we used a gate panel so we can go in and out. DH rigged up some flexible plastic pipe in a hoop shape over the top of the fencing and put some deer netting that you use to keep deer from eating the shrubs over the top of that and secured it all with zip ties. Keeps the chickens in and the predators out.

clip the feathers on one wing, they won't be able to fly the coop anymore. I had chickens going over a 7 foot fence. NBD. They will eat flowers, and they love to scratch in newly turned dirt, hence why my flower garden has a fence around it... which, is short and they haven't tried to go over yet. They are very dumb.

Our girls....7 wonder our road. My youngest DD goes by everyone house once or twice a week to check for holes and damage. She has also given out her cell phone and said to call her IMMEDIATELY with any issues. She will grab up a bucket of eggs once a week and visit the neighbors. The whole road feeds them and the grand kids run after them. No one else picks them up but us, but the neighborhood thinks of them as their own. They are pretty funny to watch and will come running when you yell "girls". We had animal control show up the other week. The complaint was the chickens are pooping in her neighbors yard, not hers but her neighbors, she stated they don't come in her yard at all. Would not leave a name, number or address. Well in our county animal control can not issue a citation without them leaving that information. There is one house on our road , fairly new neighbors, have already loudly stated they hate cops won't open the door for my dd, has returned her letter about calling if any issues and are just rude. It's funny though, our chickens will go in the yard right up to that house but will not go in her yard, as far as we know and according to all our neighbors. I'd go apologize, purchase some new flowers and just keep an eye on them. It sucks when one neighbor would ruin it for all. When animal control showed up you should have seen the neighbors come out to speak in favor of the girls. It was really cute. We have Seagull....is the racer Freckles... is very loud Red... is the mother hen Luna...is so fat she waddles Margret... is the old woman, who shows up last and just sunbathes Raptor... her comb on top is huge and hangs down over one eye like a dreadlock. & Mine is... Spaz....enough said

You have a coop cam?? How cool! I would watch that all the time.

A neighbors dog kept getting loose and I was spending all day checking on every cluck I heard to make sure he wasn't bothering them so DH ordered a system and connected it to the TV in my office so I can see if I need to run out there or if they're just being crazy. He put them in to save me time and frustration, now I just watch them play and waste even more time! We're looking into a system that will live stream, my nieces are always calling on video chat so they can watch them with me. We considered setting them up with the current app but it would also allow access to the rest of the house being monitored and that could get weird

Omg! I would freak if chickens wrecked my flowers. I have a bad enough time with squirrels and rabbits. Sounds like you need a hobby farm.

Update: I walked over today to go check out the damages. She started crying because she felt bad that it was probably her fault after she thought about it because she was throwing snacks in the flower bed for them over the winter and now she is sad that they can't get out to come visit anymore. *blankstare* All is good in the hood, no one escaped today. I walked aroumd with a peace offering and I left my number and requested that if they have any issues or see them roaming they let me know asap so I can call the terrorists home.

oh, and the bulbs were never there. She forgot they were in the other flower bed that was unbothered.
they scratched in the one where she had a few hens & chicks (I laughed) but they were simply buried under the mulch.

I am going to guess that Red is a Long Island red And falco is an americunas( Easter egger) Red is actually a black jersey giant, she reminds the kids of Red from OITNB when she gives them the stank eye. SassyPants and Falco are both easter eggers
