I'm from a small town and if there is more than 2 people in front of me at the grocery store or bank I think it's a long line that will never end. More than five minutes is too long for anything. Airports are the only places I go to with lines or am willing to be in line for. A free ice cream cone, no way. And I love ice cream. We waited 1 hour 15 mins to meet Tinkerbell in Disneyland. We were told if the line was at the tree it was an hour and we looked everyday and it was finally we had to do it. Yes! This holds true here, or at least used to, with the exception of restaurants because there are so few. The first time I was at the DMV I waited less than 5 minutes. Coming from San Antonio, it was practically a miracle. The last time the waiting room was full. Go away people!

I waited in line to get a book signed. I have waited in line for a store to open (Black Friday). I would not wait two hours for an ice cream cone no matter how good the ice cream was. My thoughts exactly. I waited on line in the freezing ass cold a few weeks ago for a signed book. And I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I stood in line for a Wii on BF when they first came out. I am from the days of Ticketmaster, but don’t remember waiting in long lines. The joys of like bands like Depeche Mode (back in the early 80’s before they were super popular) and Echo and the Bunnymen though, the lines were not terribly terrible. After I was 18 though I started buying tickets for Seattle shows instead, by then DM was pretty popular but tickets went on sale later then Portland shows so I was usually the only one in line. Our best seats were 6th row center, but they were all pretty great. I also stood in a 3 hour line for a custom drawing by a Disney artist at a Annual Passholders Event. I have my personalized Winnie the Pooh picture hanging in my house and it is AWESOME and worth every minute of the wait.

Sometimes if the grocery store line looks like it will take 10 minutes, I just leave. I am so terrible at waiting in lines.
Lines are the main reason we haven't done Disney yet. So many people, so many lines. It sounds too tedious.

2 hours for Space Mountain. It had been closed for remodel we were about to move to Seattle from So Cal. The kids and I drove to Disneyland to ride. I figured we would grab a fast pass, ride some other rides, get dinner and then ride Space Mountain. When we got there all the fast passes were gone. So...we waited. It was kind of fun...party like almost. We got off the ride and dd (age 6 immediately asked to go again)...nope!
I’ve never waited that long for another Disney ride...that was 11 years ago. I’ve gotten much smarter.

I think the longest was about hours and hours - all night?, all day?... for concert tickets.
That was the only way to buy concert tickets, back in the day. The young people today, will never get to experience the line waiting camaraderie, that forms while waiting to buy tickets for one's favorite band. A boom box, and everyone singing along at the top of their lungs, while waiting in line. Those were the good old days!
I probably wouldn't wait, more than ten minutes for a free cone. Definitely not two hours. I don't have that kind of time to waste. I'd rather pay the $3-$4 and buy a pint at the grocery store.

Nothing.
As much as I would love to meet some off the actors that play current favorite characters, I would not wait in line for more than an hour for them.
There is simply nothing that is worth waiting in line for to me. Not even yarn or fabric. When dh and I go to beer festivals, we skip the long lines no matter how much that beer was on our wish list.
It's not a patience thing. It's a personal space thing. I cannot stand crowds.

I've stood in long lines for quite a few things: - amusement park rides (lots - Disney, Universal, Cedar Point, 2 different Six Flags, Hershey Park, Busch Gardens, Dollywood, maybe some others I'm forgetting)
- book/CD signing
- opening night for the first Happy Potter movie, & all three LOTR trilogy movies
- NHL playoff game (Let's go CAPS!)
- getting into various tourist attractions all over the place (CN tower, London Eye, etc.) - same for sporting events and concerts
- and yes, I've stood in the long line for free Ben & Jerry's on Free Cone Day (both with and without kids, and once when I was pregnant and asked for 2 scoops bc I was eating for two -- and surprisingly they gave it to me! I was really just being tongue-in-cheek, but they were like "sure, why not?" - I wasn't gonna argue! )
Oddly enough, I've never been the one to camp out or stand in a long line to acquire concert tickets (before Ticketmaster), but have often stood in really long lines getting into the actual venues for those concerts. I've always lucked out that it was a friend or SO that was the standee to buy the tickets, and I was the invitee/secondary purchaser. ...And I'm about to stand in a long line at the end of this month to see The Avengers Infinity War on opening weekend at a true IMAX theater. That'll be worth it, but...it's going to be a loooong line. We're planning on about 3 hours (ugh), but we all love the Marvel movies and have been looking forward to this one for a long time.

Magic Kingdom, Universal, etc.
Concert tix years ago.
Now just have to sit at the computer the exact minute they go on sale--and sometimes still don't get them.

These days, I would stand in line for Springsteen tickets. ok, maybe for that. One of the few things worth waiting in a long line up for! Well, I "sort of" waited in line since August to get Springsteen on Broadway tix for November. It was a lottery and if you were chosen you had the chance to maybe buy tickets. They did this three of four times and i finally was able to about a week ago. So that is eight months!! (sort of)

Lines at Disneyworld, most notably the line to see Elsa when DD was infatuated with all things Frozen, and the line to ride the Mine Train which was 45 minutes long even with a Fast Pass. I would not wait two hours for a Ben & Jerry’s free cone, but I have waited 30 minutes for a “kid sized” waffle cone that is bigger than my head at the local ice cream shop for $3.95. I don’t shop on Black Friday. I won’t wait in line behind 20 people at the post office. I only barely tolerate the security lines at the airport. Probably the longest, most heinous line I have ever waited in was when I went on a cruise with my elderly mom and sisters to the South Pacific and Hawaii. First was the line for security at the first airport. Then the TWO HOUR long line at the second airport where they didn’t do assigned seats. Then another line of literally 2000 people waiting all at once to get onto the ship at 3:00 am. Yeah, that’s really NOT how you want to start off your vacation.

There’s not much I would wait in a long line for these days. It would probably be for something the grandkids wanted or an activity they wanted to do. Not often I say no to them, lol.
ETA: DH and I waited almost two hours to go to the top of One World Trade Center when we were in NYC the week after Christmas. So glad we did. It was amazing!

When Portillo's opened in Arizona, DH made us go to opening day. We waited more than 2 hours. Outside. In May. In Phoenix. With my 3 year old in tow. I still cash in points for that one

I would wait in line for something that I can’t normally do—whether that was due to finances, infrequency Of the thing happening, etc. I probably wouldn’t wait more than 20 min for an ice cream cone, especially if I was just me and not the kids (less cost for one cone on a different day than 5 or 6).

we stood on line at checkpoint alpha - between West Germany and East Germany - for 6hours (and then we went thru in a convoy of vehicles - this was spring of 1990 - the wall was officially down but it was still a very strained relationship between the East and West)
we were on our way to Berlin to see Roger Waters recreate The Wall concert at Potsdamer Platz
i was in the army - i was used to 'hurry up and wait'
now - i won't stand in line for much

Apart from at an airport or cruise terminal I won’t wait in a queue for anything if there’s more than 3 people in front of me! Queuing for ages for a free ice cream is beyond my comprehension!
OK I’ve just remembered that I do queue to use the loo at service stations! This Easter was particularly bad. On my way out of the toilets I counted over 50 women waiting to go in and there were only about 12 cubicles in use!

I waited in line, for hours in the cold, back in the late 80s for New Kids on the Block tickets for our daughter and a friend for Christmas. It was worth the frostbite to see her face! I have waited in line at Disney World more times than I care to remember! That reminds me of a funny story. One of my friends used to be a science teacher in the Boston Public Schools. Some of the kids in his class were forming a band, and they asked him to listen to their tape. He encouraged them but inside his head he thought they were awful, LOL. It was the kids from NKOB, and for many years they always sent him tickets when they played in Boston. They still keep in touch with him -- his teaching meant a lot to them.

I waited 6 hrs in a waiting room to see a new-to-me opthomolgist. At least I was sitting down.
Before Fast Pass, many, many hours at Disney World. I’m way over that, so I can honestly say “never again”.
I’m constantly amazed when I hear that people wait 2+ hours for dinner at our local ..... Outback Steakhouse. Seriously. We have a lot of restaurants in this city that are a lot better.
Apparently the older I get, the less patience I have.

I waited about 20 minutes to meet Georgia and Karen of the podcast My Favorite Murder last October. Totally worth it. Sounds like you are in a cult. You should call your dad....

My sister stood in line with her daughter to see Harry Styles (is that how you spell it).. couldn't get tickets ahead of time...it was some small venue in Florida... but the shocker things was, NO CHAIRS ALLOWED, NO COOLERS, no nothing and if I remember right it was pouring rain.. and this was for 10 hours (maybe even a bit longer).. the line was finally moved to a covered area.. but damn my sister is hard core...She even drove her dd 6 hours to get there. My sister is a bit of a music junkie though.. but she said this is it.. not again.. she is glad she did it so that her daughter can have the memories of waiting with a gallizon other girls.. but that was it. Funny thing is she had to watch her battery on their phones.. couldn't go back to the car cause she accidentally got in the valet parking line and couldn't get out of it so she had no idea where her car was. They had an extra battery charger on them but when you have nothing else to do for hours on end, that didn't last long. I have waited the usual hours at amusement parks. I have waited for a book signing (Pioneer Woman) for a couple of hours (twice) but otherwise I can't remember anything longer than 2 hours....

I have waited in line to get into a store on Black Friday, but with online shopping, I don't do that anymore. A few years ago I waiting in a very long line to get an autograph from Nascar driver Jimmie Johnson for our son who is a HUGE fan. He was signing books in Dover at a race. I went out and stood in line for probably 2 hours before he started signing. When the race was over DH and ODS joined me in line.

Waited in multiple hour lines for dd to meet Tinkerbell and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider at Disneyworld. So thankful there was a fast pass when it came time for Anna and Elsa, and that she is past characters now!

I have waited in line for hours and even slept out overnight to get concert tickets. This - many, many times and also waiting in long lines to get into General Admission concerts. I have waited in long lines at WDW I waiting in very long lines at security checkpoints at the Airport and at the Olympic Games I waiting in long lines to meet former presidents (Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton)

I waited over two hours in line for the friends and family sale at Shinola in downtown Detroit on a blistering hot day. I love their watches but could never pay the huge retail price ($400-1000). I paid between $100 -$125 per watch and was able to buy 1 for my dh and two for myself. It was well worth the wait. Very little else would be worth it to me.

Twice to hear Obama speak, once for the Colbert Report, in Dublin to see the Book of Kells, once to climb to the crown of the Statue of Liberty, the Van Gogh exhibit at LACMA, and Disney.
Each time was worth it.

I waited an hour and 45 minutes for a ride at Disneyland last week. this is pretty much the only thing i will wait in line for. the older i get, the less patience i have for lines. i sure as heck would never stand in long line for a free cone of ice cream or other food sample. i considered standing in line for free lipstick day at MAC but thought better of it when i saw the lines.

I waited 6 hrs in a waiting room to see a new-to-me opthomolgist. At least I was sitting down. I'd like to know how it's even possible to need to wait for 6 hours for an ophthalmologist!? Did they not make appointments? I've waited in long lines at amusement parks and once on my bday which is also Valentine's day we waited over an hour and a half for a table at a restaurant. We knew going in that it would be a long wait so we made the most of it.

My first husband and I waited for 48 hours for PlayStation 3s, and yes we both got one and both stayed awake the entire time. We made about $4500 off of them after expenses. Everyone thought we were stupid though they didn’t mind holding their hand out for money after.
