This surgery was a breeze compared to the last one in January. I went to see my surgeon for the follow-up. I was hoping that she'd say I was healing and almost finished, but, nooooooo! I have to go back again in 1 month to see her and she'll know if I might need yet ANOTHER small surgery (or if I'm all done).
It has been a journey and I'm not done yet. It's frustrating at times but I don't feel like I have the right to complain. I just want to be patch-free and all finished, now, please! Ugh!

Oh man, I am sure you are so ready to just move on! I hope the healing takes place as it should and you can be pronounced DONE when you go back.

Ugg another surgery after you thought you had an easier time. You never know what a few more weeks will bring. Fingers crossed for your continued healing.

You do have a right to complain. This has been a long, long process for you.
I hope you continue to improve and do not require more surgery.

Thanks, milocat,Mystie & Mikklynn!! I had high hopes that she'd say I was close to being done with the whole surgery thing and the patches, but, nope! She explained that when she got inside my eyelids (gross, I know), she saw that there was "nothing left to them". She was mystified at how there is absolutely no muscle in there and it's basically like playdough (I knew this). She asked me why. That normally happens when you're shot at close range with a high caliber gun (not a bb gun). I could only think back to the 30+ surgeries I had to make things APPEAR to be normal, and create the look out of my own body parts. I guess the more I was operated on, the more muscle I lost, and the more scar tissue I formed.
She's doing ALL she can to make things look as best as they can. Honestly, that's all I can ask for. I didn't expect the emotional part of this--that it's such a long process and it's getting to me....... But I'm in good hands and hopefully I won't be a burden to DH in another month or 2.........
When she does write my story up on her webpage, I'll send it to whomever wants to take a gander. She wants to do a final photoshoot of the 2 of us (with me wearing my necklace) and having me tell my story. I will be forever grateful that this incredible woman was able to get at the root of my pain and help me. When this is ALL done, I'll be happy!
One more thing: She did say that after seeing that my eyelids are basically all scar tissue, that that alone could be very painful. I'm hoping that compared to what I did go through, the rest will be very bearable for me! What a journey!! Thank you for reading about it and coming along for the ride!

I'm so impressed that you are sticking with this. You are a warrior! Don't slow down just because you can see the finish line. You've got this!

She is truly a healer.
I'm sorry that it isn't going as quickly as you hoped, however, healing takes time. You are asking a lot from your body right now. And, your Dr. Sounds like a perfectionist and she truly wants to get you to the point where this is all behind you.
I, for sure, will want to hear her story about you. I can't wait to see your final pictures.

Thanks, ladies! I will follow up when I'm all DONE! I do hate posting pics though..... but as long as it looks okay, I'll post it! Seems like the completion is still far away for me, but I must be patient.... Thanks again!
Ooh, and 2 of my eye people from my website have appointments to meet with the surgeon to see if they're candidates for the surgery. It's exciting to help other people find a way out of their terrible pain. That's what it's all about!

Hoping your follow up will show you are healed! It has to be frustrating, but at least you are progressing towards putting this behind you.

You’ve really been through the wringer with this whole process, I bet you’ll be so relieved when you finally get to the finish line. I’m just glad you’re still hanging in there while you work through the bumps that have popped up in the road along the way. You’ll get there! You’re one tough cookie!

That sucks. A lot. I will say that you wear that patch well though! I wouldn't want to wear it, but you rock it.

Thank you all so much. I'm just whining and being a baby at this point, but the more details I hear, the more I realize that it's why I'm in the position I'm in! My case has been really, really tough, and no surgeon even wanted to take me on, so I'm blessed that I found the right surgeon to handle it and come up with ideas!
One sweet thing: My surgeon told me that during this surgery, she got into my eyelid and found my eyelashes (they were MIA) and all of the nurses broke out in applause. She said that they were so happy for me. Sweet!!

I'm so happy to hear about some horrible, long-term burden being lifted even if it's a long and difficult trial. Your's is a story of hope and triumph that I hope will continue to get better and better as you begin to truly heal.

Hey -- they found your eyelashes!! That's amazing! This must have been an exhausting journey, and I know you had a lot of pain and discomfort along the way, but I'm so very happy to read that you are nearing the end of it. As leftturnonly has said, your story is of hope and triumph, and we all are lifted by it.

Your's is a story of hope and triumph that I hope will continue to get better and better as you begin to truly heal. Thank you SO very much!!! That was sweet, and I am truly touched that my journey is a ray of sunshine to you. Not to belittle any Peas going through rough pain issues or life-worrying issues, I find myself whining about how long this is taking to finish. I suppose I don't recall going more than 1/2 year to be all finished and unpatched. Having this happen when I was only 13 was sort of a blessing. These days every step of it feels like a mountain to step over! I CAN'T COMPLAIN--this has been my motto since I was first in hospital (alone, in Manhattan) for weeks at a time. I knew that mine was just time-consuming and that my surgeon would figure something out + he called me his "star", which was kinda cool...... I just want to meld amongst the Peas who have more normal issues to whine about....... It'll happen! I'm gearing up for the worst, always, just in case I do need 1 more surgery. I worry about DH going through his cancer rounds and infections and trying to handle things when I'm healing. It makes me feel helpless and guilty. I'm usually the one to help. I'm trying to listen and heal and FINISH this thing!!! When I am done, y'all will know and I'll proudly post the pics and story. Thank you again--that was very sweet! Words like that keep me going! xo P.S.: Thank you, Peasapie!! We were all hoping they'd be there! If not, she would have had to insert them (another worry about rejection). The more I could use my own parts, the better. And so far, the pig parts in my lid are 100% fine, so that's cool. DH is making the pig jokes already!
