Delta Dawn I think I would pick a couple of small items to buy and when paying for them I’d ask the assistant if they held classes at the store and I’d then go on to explain what was causing me difficulty with what I was working on. Take your work with you to show them. I think people in small yarn stores see it as part of the job to help crafters. Which is pretty much what RedSquirrelUK said!

I managed to finish both the front panels of my cardigan this weekend. And I've got both cuffs done on the sleeves. Now just trying to figure out how to do the rest of the sleeves. I'm stopping at Joann's on my way home to get the buttons I need.

Today was a long day. I spent at least 12 hours working on shell crocheting. I first had 180 stitches. Then I had to get rid of that work so I frogged. Started again with 30. Then I went to 21. Then 18 and now I am at 15 and I still can't get it. I am going to have to go to the yarn store tomorrow. I quit at midnight tonight and I started at 8 am. I know this is about sharing your successes but I am so not there yet. I think even my single crochets are now wrong. Once my vision went tonight (even with glasses I couldn't see a thing) I was persevering, but I did give up eventually. I will get this. I am determined. I am watching video and i had live action video courtesy of RedSquirrelUK and I still can't get it. I need someone to show me what I am doing wrong. In other news the other blanket looks great for a first project. I have to get more yarn for it because I only have one skein left. I guess I am doing that tomorrow, too. There is a big mistake in it and i am not frogging it. My son and DDIL will like it for the way it is and they know it's my first project. It's not the end of the world. I enjoy having my hands busy. This is very interesting and I like the creativity side of it. The counting side I find hard. (I know it sounds crazy I mean counting to 15???) but I lose track and i tried stitch markers and they just confused me more so now I don't know what to do.

Elannah, I haven't been here much in the past months, so forgive me if I've missed something. After reading your recent posts here in this thread I'm really worried about you. Have you shared your symptoms with your doctors? Has there been an illness or injury that has caused you to have difficulties? You're one of my favorite peas and it saddens me to see you struggling. 💚 Hi so as you all know I am learning to crochet instead of just "saying" I want to learn how to crochet. Sometimes I can crochet for quite a while and get 2 rows done and other times I can't look at it. Bright sunlight helps. I have this chair in the living room that is really comfortable and I use it to sit in. Anywhere else doesn't seem to work. It is starting to get relaxing but I find I forget the pattern and have to refer to my phone i.e. 3 double crochets chain two skip 2. It sounds really easy but I find it hard to remember. There also might be lots of extra stitches along the way. I figure it's my first blanket and if I screw up here or there no one is going to care. It's the learning that is important and that's why I am doing it. I am thinking I will give it to DS and DDIL because the colour is really pretty and I love it. I wish I could easily take a photo of how much I have done with my phone. I think it's pretty good for a beginner. This is huge for me to be able to concentrate on something. I can't read, I can't watch TV or movies. (I feel Amish almost) but I have crocheting to keep me busy. I am excited about learning new stitches, too!

I can't watch TV nor read nor watch a movie. I am able to do this but it feels like my brain is being tugged. I see her today so I will bring it up with her. I really want to master this crochet thing, though. I am doing it to prevent Alzheimer's as I have a good chance of getting it and learning a new skill like this at my age is a good way to prevent. Next i am going to learn Italian. I just have to pick a course I want to take and do it. I am NOT GETTING OLD!!!!

I need a wall to punch anyone got one? I went to the Yarn store and it’s closed for 3 days. Honestly I think I need a drink or something. Middle of the week on a special street with every other business open of course and she is close but will re-open for the carnival on the weekend.
Please make me laugh. Please? I am begging now.

Why did the rubber chicken cross the road? She wanted to stretch her legs. Why did the rooster cross the road? He wanted something to cockadoodle dooo. Why did the cow cross the road? To get to the udder side. Why did the horse cross the road? It was the chicken’s day off.

Delta Dawn would something like colouring help you while you wait for the yarn shop to open? You could print off pictures from various sites I imagine.

I think my symptoms are pretty common. I can't watch TV nor read nor watch a movie. I am able to do this but it feels like my brain is being tugged. If it isn't too personal, when you say your symptoms are common, what do you mean? I don't think it is common not to be able to watch TV, a movie or read but you may mean it is common for some kind of condition that you have? I just wasn't sure. I don't mean to pry but when you ask for help, it may help us to understand your limitations so we can help you more. Thanks PS: Sorry the yarn store was closed...I thought this was pretty funny so maybe it will give you a chuckle... A man goes into the doctor's office and says my leg talks - what could be wrong? The curious doctor says "It talks? what do you mean?" The man says "Just listen to it" So the doctor puts the stethoscope up to the man's ankle and hears it say: "Give me 5 dollars, I need 5 dollars" Intrigued, the doctor puts the stethoscope up to the man's knee and hears: "Give me 10 dollars, please give me 10 dollars" Now the doctor is really interested so he listens to the man's thigh and hears "Please give me 20 dollars, I need 20 dollars" The doctor says - "Son, I know what your problem is....your leg is broke in 3 places"

It’s a common symptom but it’s real. I have found something I like doing with crocheting and it’s working. Losing tv was hard. I enjoyed tv a lot. I tried to watch Wonder Woman on cable and I lasted 15 minutes. I then bought a magazine to read and read an article a day and had no idea what I read. So I will crochet.

Delta Dawn, check out this resource as well www.craftyminx.com/crochet-school/She may not have a resource for your specific Stitch, but if you need to backup and learn a bit she has very clear videos. She also has them flipped for lefties I believe

I did mention I was a derpy knitter, didn't I? I've just finished my Mini Madness shawl and realised I've used completely the wrong size needles it should have been 3.5 and I've used 2.5. Why don't I read things properly before I start?
Thank you everyone for sharing again this month. I love seeing all the different crafts

I’ve tried the virus shawl and have frogged 4 times 😩😠 You can do it! It took me a couple of times before I got the pattern. I found keeping a piece of different colored yarn through a stitch (any stitch) on the right side to keep me oriented. You really need to count until you get the rhythm. There’s also a YouTube video if that helps.

Honestly really simple - just bear in mind that it's in US terms. What colour Whirl do you have?
