I must confess that I have not had to cook much this week. I've planned to cook, but it keeps getting derailed. Tonight if dh is up for it, I might attempt chicken nuggets and tater tots, since I didn't do them last night. In a day or two I'll be back to cooking real meals.

I bought a nice piece of fish when I was out earlier, so that will be my dinner, probably just with a salad as I am not really hungry, thanks to the ice-cream I had at 4:15 on the way home from visiting my friend in hospital.
I am currently very annoyed. I had a 'you have a parcel arriving' email from DPD last night, and a 'this is when your parcel will arrive' with an hour time slot this morning. I was home well before the indicated time, and at that point it was still saying 'will be delivered today'. Then, at about 5:15 (15 minutes BEFORE the end of the indicated period), the delivery van icon disappeared from the tracking map, and I got another email saying 'we couldn't deliver to you personally' and my parcel will now be taken to a pick-up location. I was at home - no one rang my doorbell - and I suspect that the reason they couldn't deliver was that it was 5:15pm on a Friday, and the driver just couldn't be bothered.

I am finished with all my work and getting ready to leave for the weekend. DH and I will be going away for the weekend to visit his family in Ohio. I am simultaneously excited to be going without the children and terrified that my teens are going to burn the house down because we are leaving them alone. Aunt Cathy says it's tacos for dinner tonight.

For our dining pleasure this evening we will be enjoying cabbage and kielbasa cooked in our outdoor kitchen in Hill City South Dakota. We aren't even half way there but our first trip with our trailer is going well.

I haven’t heard from DS/DDIL as to whether they are coming home tonight or tomorrow. I hope tonight. I miss them terribly. Anyway as long as I get to see them I don’t care.
i just heard from DDIL and I think they will have to eat on the ferry. They won’t make the 5 and I am doubtful about the 6. Maybe the 7 and they will be home for 9:30.
Ok halibut for Dad and me I will make something else. I will see if DS wants tonkatsu which is breaded pork cutlets maybe if he doesn’t want to eat on the ferry.

Some friends of the family are in town from Lafayette Louisiana and stay ing at my Aunts. Several of us have been invited over for shrimp gumbo, red beans and rice, and boudin on the patio. I do not like seafood or Cajun cuisine so I'm going to dinner with somefriends and will go by after for a visit. Hopefully just in time for dessert and watermelon margaritas. lol

We made it to Friday!!! I don't think I am going to cook dinner and tell dh that it is date night! I am up for any type of food as long as I don't have to cook it! 
Kait is in Florence today. She is loving all the beautiful architecture. She got to go to the Duomo today which was the thing she was most excited about.

Last day of school! A group of teacher friends are going out to dinner and drinks this evening. I plan on getting the fish tacos and a beer.
From time to time I've been known to whine a bit here about school, but really I had a good year and work with fun people and now I'm one year closer to retirement.

Dh and I have dgd until late tonight. In an effort to tire her out we went to an outdoor venue where we shared hotdogs and chicken tenders with a few fries for lunch. Dh had s frappe and Ally and I shared a kiddie cup of ice cream. Dinner...who knows? Dh has been on a black beans and rice kick and will probably make that. We have green beans that need to be cooked, salad stuff and a freezer full of meat...I may grill chicken.

I fed them spaghetti carbonara, and they were Happy. I haven't eaten much this past week (I have absolutely no appetite), and am down 3 kg so far. DS decided to burst my bubble and tell me that they will all come back as soon as I start eating again. Thankfully, Fritjof the bunny is getting his appetite back. And he poops!! It took 40 hours, but finally!! (Bunnies have an extremely sensitive gastro intestinal system).

I went to Costco this morning to pick up a few things including some movie passes ... it was NUTS there ... if dh had been with me he would have turned around and left  I stayed and got what I needed because I'm no quitter  Dh, dd#2 and I are going to see "Life of the Party" tonight ... that means no cooking for me because we will be eating popcorn and candy instead  Last time we went to a movie I made dh stop at McDonald's on the way home because I was still hungry so that might happen tonight as well  |

My dd went out for Mexican with a co-worker at lunch and brought us some fajitas for our dinner. She’s so sweet. It’s also the dog’s birthday today, so I thought I’d post a picture of him.

jeremysgirl where in Ohio? I live in Columbus. We have a grad party but I’m making mahi mahi grilled roasted Brussel sprouts and green salad. I’m really hoping there’s cake at the party later. Tomorrow is graduation at 9:30 AM. Then we’ll go out for lunch somewhere. Dd’s Choice doesn’t have reservations left. So that’s up in the air. Sunday we have 3 grad parties. One is one of my bff’s and she had food catered for 30 yes 30. We won’t be eating there.

I stocked up at the supermarket today, so there are many choices ... I could have hot dogs and the last artichoke, or spaghetti with meat sauce, or I could make quiche with lots of veggies and cheese. Or I could just sit here and keep eating cheese and crackers (late lunch, yum). miominmio , so glad to hear bunny is feeling better, but I wish you hadn't mentioned bunny poop right when I was popping a few M&Ms. (Little, round chocolate candies, for you non-Americans.) tuesdaysgone , congrats on surviving another year. We have two more weeks to go. The 9yo's teacher (also my sister and BIL's neighbor, so kind of a friend) looks like she is hanging on by her fingernails. ha hahaha teddyw , congrats on your graduate. (if I have that right? your youngest is graduating?) Have fun at the parties. sueg , sorry for the package delivery annoyance. The kids will be home in a while. DS said they have a reservation on the 6 ferry so we will eat late. I can’t wait to see them. I am sitting here bursting with excitement. I miss them so much. Yay!!!
Plan is still to make curried pork cutlets, salad and rice.

Aaaawww so cute! How old is he? It's my doggy's 2nd birthday on Monday. DD has a stack of birthday presents put aside for him. For dinner we went out to a Greek restaurant for MIL's 70th birthday. We had a banquet: pita and dips (tzatziki and taramasalata) cheese saganaki zucchini fritters eggplant chips with yoghurt and honey calamari with aioli Greek salad Cypriot grain salad chicken gyros baklava and halva ice-cream I was really surprised that they didn't serve lamb as well as chicken. I have never been to a Greek restaurant and NOT had lamb. And I've been to many Greek restaurants in my life. Most other people were waiting for the lamb as well. Very strange. Oh well, everything else was absolutely delicious. |
