Late late night. I still want zzzzz's. I have to go back to get the tube replacement today. They were gonna admit me, but I talked 'em down. to let me go home to my own bed. I have some funny stories from the ER. If you have to go to a hospital then try and make it entertaining. So, I'll make this quick. Dh has leftovers for dinner. I have sleep for dinner.
What's on your menu?
Hope all is well w/my tribe and I wish you all a very happy and relaxing weekend.

Oh no, I hope they can help you.
Dinner? Chicken breast with a lemon sauce and a salad. Not that I was able to eat much, since my throat hurts again. I'm on antibiotics! It isn't supposed to happen!! So I have spent most of the day on the couch feeling sorry for myself, but at least I've had the time to plan our trip to Berlin and my cousin's trip to Norway (or at least the days she'll be here). I hope she's into 500 yo gravestones, castles and history.

I was hoping that tonight would be a fend for yourself night because dh is going out with his buddy but he said that he has time for an "early dinner" He still needs to eat relatively soft food because of the dental work he had done this week so I'm making pasta again This time it will be Creamy Chicken and Sundried Tomato Pasta ... I looooove sundried tomatoes

scrapmaven - I hope all goes well and you are fixed up soon miominmio - ugh! I hope you are feeling better again soon, you seem to have had a bad run of illness lately. This morning I went into the market in the city, and so tonight we are baving Thai style fish from the grill. I have made a marinade from chili, Thai basil, coriander, garlic, ginger and lime rind to rub into it before cooking. I will most likely make a salad to go with it.

leannec, could you please step aside? I need to crawl through the screen and eat that pasta. I just printed out the recipe. Thank you for the yummy dinner idea. miominmio, that's it young lady. I'm coming to Norway and taking you to the ENT. Well, and also cause, you know, Norway and horses... Do you perhaps need a med change?

scrapmaven and miominmio I hope you’re both feeling enter soon! Dh and I just decided to take scallops out to grill tonight. The fridge is looking sparse but there are carrots and plenty of frozen veggies. He’ll probably throw some fries in the oven as well.

My big plans for dinner last night went by the wayside when DH came home from work not feeling well. He crawled into bed and didn't get up till 8:00 p.m. and by that time I wasn't in the mood to put together a big dinner. Leftovers were enjoyed by all.
He's feeling better today, so I'm planning hamburgers (no bun), parmesan couscous, and a broccoli salad.
scrapmaven and miominmio , if only we all lived in the same neighborhood. We'd take care of each other on sick days and drop in for dinner when we could. Absent that nice fantasy, I hope you're both feeling up and at 'em soon.

I only need to come up with dinner for dh tonight. I have no idea which one of the many things I have in my freezer I will pull out and thaw & heat at the last minute. scrapmaven , the only swearing I heard growing up was when my dad was doing any plumbing project. The man really hates plumbing. I think all of his plumbing words could be applied to your tube issues. I could share them with you if you don't have any of your own. Thank you all for the kind words yesterday regarding the salad bar. My family ate it but didn't appreciate what went into putting that meal on the table. I would gladly make a salad bar for the dinner tribe any day of the week! ETA: I had made both the Asian and the honey-mustard dressings in the past and already knew my family liked those, but the Catalina dressing was a new recipe. Everyone that had it gave it a thumbs up. French & Catalina Dressing

I'm thinking either lasagna or flank steak. Getting ready to marinate the 4 lbs of flank steak I bought at Costco yesterday ~ then into the freezer they go.

Jeremy's driving test went well this morning! We are on pins and needles waiting to hear. When I know, you'll know.
I got a great message about my DS this morning and I just have to brag. My son has failed English for the past three years. He hates to write. He's trying to pass 9th grade English right now. He's been frustrated with an argumentative essay for over a week now. He finally finished it yesterday. His teacher texted me this morning that it was phenomenal. And that he used excellent punctuation and grammar. I am so proud, I just can't stop bragging.
Last night Jeremy and I went to Target. I had had a rough afternoon with DD. I just didn't feel like cooking so I popped a frozen french bread pizza in the oven and then had Ben and Jerry's for dessert. Tonight I will make the ginger sesame chicken with snap peas and red rice. I'm really looking forward to it.

jeremysgirl - great job to your DS!! I know for my DS we struggled all through school with homework, grades. It was a nightmare. Then a light switch came on in 9th grade, and he did extreamly well the rest of high school. I can't take credit for it, he just matured? Whatever, it worked and it was nice not to have to hound him anymore. I hope with this compliment from the teacher, your DS will see that sometimes hard work does pay off. scrapmaven - my dad tried acupuncture for the first time on Tuesday (neck and back pain). I called him on Wednesday to see how it was. He said his neck was less stiff. So that is good. He goes back June 8. Hopefully they can also work on his wrist (he broke it snowmobiling, at the worst possible place on his wrist, it is not straight anymore) and if there is anything they can do about COPD... I hope your tube replacement is swift and easy and you will be home and zzzzing again soon. miominmio!!!!! Get better!! Maybe the sore throat is just nasel drip and not anything more serious. I know you are on antibiotics, but are you taking decongestants too? Pizza was last night...maybe swedish meatballs tonight. *shrugs*

For our dining pleasure this evening we will be enjoying the bounty of the fishing expedition yesterday.....the afternoon was a success. The young man caught trees, rocks, underwater somethings, and a dock with his fishing gear..(he also caught fish and learned how to cast)..it is a good thing I had extra rigs, sinkers, and hooks.....LOL! Poor dude had a baseball game at 6 so we had to leave the lake before 5 and he was sad, but grandma was pretty done by then anyway....we had been fishing since noon......the other half of we and I ate supper and then cleaned fish so we did not eat them last night.
scrapmaven I hope your tube thing is painless and fast so you can go home and take a nap in your own bed........
miominmio I am sending healing thoughts your way, I hope you heal up and stay healthy for a while.
jeremysgirl congrats to your son and fingers crossed for Jeremy's job.........
Happy Dance Friday Everybody!

Trixie Bender , I know a lot of those words and Lamaze breathing, which doesn't do a damn bit of good for contractions. Thank you everyone. They changed the plan. I'm going to be admitted overnight via the ER, so that they can do the tube change tmw. jeremysgirl , I just love a happy post from you. I'm so happy for you today. I'm crossing my fingers and saying a prayer for Jeremy. Your ds is making good strides. Does he respond well to rewards? Maybe a tiny little reward for his writing kudos even if it's just that he gets to pick the movie or his favorite fast food for dinner. (But not tonight, cause your dinner sounds delicious). You're celebrating his achievement and maturity. Gee, when I do a good job my it's noticed and praised.

Hmmm I don’t know if I’m cooking. DH is at the memorial golf tournament. So he’ll eat out. DD #3 is babysitting twin 2 year olds from 7-7. Then she’s going to grad parties. So just me. I ate the potato corn chowder for a late lunch. I’ll be hungry at 9pm though. I’m going to force myself to have salad if so. In the meantime I’m making chocolate covered Oreos and white chocolate cranberry oatmeal cookie dough for our grad party. First I have to walk to the store and get eggs. Went to Costco earlier and it was crazy. People were so rude today. scrapmaven I hope your procedure is uneventful and you go home quickly. Hang in there. miominmio maybe you just have postnasal drip or a virus. Hope you’re better soon jeremysgirl yay for your son and your dh

scrapmaven......Ugh, sorry they're going to admit you after all.... I was hoping you'd get to be in your own, cozy bed tonight. Are you in pain? I hope not! If you're up to it, please share some of your funny ER stories. jeremysgirl.....Wonderful news about your son; you must be beyond thrilled! And that's great that Jeremy's test went well. CarefreeSadie.....LOL that your grandson caught trees, rocks, and a DOCK ?!?!? Gee, those things must've been REALLLY heavy for his fishing pole....how did he reel all of that in....hee hee! I have no idea what's for dinner. It is soooo hot today; ugh! I feel sorry for our sweet doggies---they want to be outside SO badly, but there's no way!

Most of it did not get reeled in but rather the line got cut and new rigs got put on after a time of trying to unhook it from whatever had been caught at the time........the dock turned out to be an easy fix.....unhooked easily......LOL

Well since it’s not raining I guess I’ll grill the steaks I bought yesterday because the next several days will be raining. I’m going to make it with frozen veggies & a multigrain pilaf.
I’m looking forward to curling up and not moving much for the weekend.

I hope they treat you well while you're there and that you're home and feeling better soon. jeremysgirl, I can hear your pride in your posts. When a child struggles, so does the mom. erm, I think I need to go back and read yesterday's thread that I missed. scrapmaven , sigh. Wishing you a quick escape from jail. jeremysgirl , great news about DS. Good for him! The 9yo finally went back to school today. (Good timing. Fridays are half-days, and I work in his classroom on Friday mornings, too. So I was there to keep an eye on him.) It's just me for dinner tonight. I have some leftover sick-kid food that includes plain white rice and plain boiled chicken. I also have some leftover homemade BBQ sauce and also part of a jar of curry sauce. And lots of fresh veggies. So with all those possibilities, I think I can easily make some sort of chicken/rice/veggies/sauce thing and get rid of all these leftovers, too. Oh no, I hope they can help you. Dinner? Chicken breast with a lemon sauce and a salad. Not that I was able to eat much, since my throat hurts again. I'm on antibiotics! It isn't supposed to happen!! Baseball was so much fun last night! ODS thought so too... I don't think hitting a 3 run homerun had anything to do with it He also came home with the game ball! YDS has a game at 6pm this evening. We're planning club sandwiches and chips before the game. Then the boys can have a snack when we get home if they are still hungry.

Sorry to see your update, scrapmaven. Hope they get to work early tomorrow and you are home to recover. jeremysgirl, that is awesome news about DS! I'm making an easy, lazy dinner tonight. Kind of an egg roll casserole, but it doesn't even get put into a casserole dish, just stir fry everything together and serve. Because the recipe isn't easy enough to begin with, I'll use already shredded cabbage and toss in a bag of broccoli slaw to up the vegetable count. The carnivores can have rice, but DH and I are avoiding it for the next little while. I cleaned the Ben & Jerry's out of the freezer last night in anticipation of a clean eating month and am paying for it today. Just a little reminder that dairy is no longer my friend.
