I've been hoarding this vicki boutin paper for a while now, but must use it while I love it! I'm also grabbing points for "contruction" (wood dots), "wheels", "icons", "out and about", and I think I'm going to make a title challenge out of this (it's my 2nd LO this month where I used my own writing in the title). That is a delightful photo, @mamaofdudes, and you have created the perfect page to show it off! I love how you used the b&w photo and the black and white pp with the pops of colour. Great layering, too.
When you combine a photo you love about people you love with papers you love--you make MAGIC happen!

i definitely need this challenge! i have so many paper pads i've bought cheap at tuesday morning that are just sitting around looking pretty and getting dusty. i was thinking of maybe doing shimelle's process she outlined in her "the perfect collection" class for true scrap, where you basically just cut up papers randomly, make backgrounds, then add your photos and embellish. that would be perfect for a paper pad/collection that has 2 sheets of everything. i may just do that this month! Let us know if you end up using the "perfect collection" method. I am so interested in feedback. I have watched her videos on it several times and I'm very tempted to just cut in and try it, but for some reason I always hold back. I think I'm trying to find the right collection to use. I have the original Crate Paper DIY Shop, but am trying to decide if it is too precious to use for an "experiment" like this, since it is so different from how I usually scrap. It totally defeats the purpose of this thread, but I am actually contemplating buying a pad of paper that I am not too attached to just to try it out

infochick when i first bought the class, i completed it and LOVED it! i used an echo park collection and i think i made around 20 pages. i did it again on my own using a jillibean soup line and since i scrap 8.5x11, i made up my own cutting dimensions. again, made a ton of pages. i sort of forgot about doing that this month, oops! i think if you know what you're wanting to scrap, it might make it easier to choose a collection to use. let us know if you do it and what you think of the process!

Thank you stinkerbelle! I appreciate the feedback. I am definitely going to try it. I have some odds and ends of photos, as well as a large trip to scrap, so it will fun to spend some time making a bunch of backgrounds that I can spread through a few different albums.

Oh wow!!! I absolutely love your layout christinec68. The diagonal design of the page with the embellishments is so effective. I will definitely be using this for some inspiration.

I picked out a piece of paper I've been hoarding because I love it so, and 3 packs of thickers/ephemera/die cuts that I adore and have never even opened, then set out to scrap something with it all. And here it is! girls relaxing at lake erie by kirstendrew, on Flickr
