Check your tires, especially balance. Shaking that is speed-dependent is often a tire issue. ETA if it’s when you brake get the brakes checked. We just replaced the brakes on the odyssey and the car had started shaking about 3 days before it went in. They couldn’t find anything wrong with it. But the shake has gotten worse. I also think it’s the tires / balance. I’m sure it’s fixable but the car is needing a lot of work lately. It’s an 06.

Have you thought about a Volvo XC90 or BMW X5? I had both of them, and they are great cars. Never had a problem with either and kept both for 5 years (which is all I usually keep a car). I traded my BMW for what I have now but my sister still has and loves my old XC90. Both have 3rd rows. Just thought I would throw another idea in the mix. Yes! Going to look at Volvo today. I feel like the X5 doesn’t come with a third row in Canada.

We plan to keep it a lot longer. It’s hard to match that space and that ride!

I am with your husband and a Subaru Forester. That is what I would get again I think. We just got rid of one last year. It was an 06. We loved it a lot but it wasn’t very roomy for our kids in the back. They complained when there was a third friend or on road trips. Dh took it when we for the odyssey and he just upgraded to a sporty sedan last year. But my car needs to have more space. The only person I drive is me and then pick up BFF and it meets my needs soon. DS wants me to get another one. Thing is Subaru is out in Colwood and it’s a pain to get out there for servicing. DS also has a thing for disliking Jum Pattinson. He owns Subaru here. So I still drive my 06 but we need to do something about it. I don’t drive a lot. I mean I hate to leave Saanich! If I go anywhere it’s Oak Bay but that is maybe once a week. One Costco trip to Langford maybe. Even Michaels is in Saanich as is Sephora! It only has 130,000 km and it is an 06. What about crossovers? Would that work for you? Is the visibility good? I don’t know. Maybe? I am not a big driver as you can see so I have no good opinions on anything. I don’t want my son’s sports car. That thing bumps and jerks too much. Lol

I have the Volvo xc90. I like its size. I drove some others than felt too big for me. I have 4 kids and when we need the 3rd row, my 8yo twins sit back there. I don't think much bigger kids would be very comfortable there. Like I wouldn't want my teens to have to sit back there for long rides.
It drives nicely. It requires premium gas, which can be $. It feels sturdy and safe.

I’ve had my Traverse for 7 years, and I can’t wait to get rid of it. It has 48,000 miles on it, and the transmission blew. That cost me 3k. Now we’re having issues with the engine. I’ve always liked the space inside, but the mechanical issues are ridiculous.

Thanks! One of the issues with the Traverse we drove was ...the mirror motor on driver's side! Besides not working it looked like someone had tried to work on it thru the drivers side door and left off a piece of plastic. Also the "service all wheel drive" light was on but the mechanic at the dealership said it was something else, a sensor or something for the fuel. Glad we didn't jump on that particular car... but I did like the size of it. The mirror motor caused a lengthy stay at the garage, and I forgot that I had fundraising money in the center consol and it was gone when I got the car back.

Read my epic post on bad cars , I posted a link. My husband works with a guy that just bought a traverse. One month in and it has already spent 2 weeks in the garage. He is going to turn it back in. I did...still stand by my experience. Everyone can tell a horror story about a car they or someone they know has owned--and others will have great experiences with the same car. Just saying. there is an entire website to devoted to bad traverses. I am not the only one with a horror story. For. $50 plus thousand dollars I should still be driving that car. It is an 09 and spent over a year in the garage being fixed.

I had a Nissan rogue and loved it too! DH hit a dear doing 65mph and totaled it. he hit it hard enough that it bent the frame and he gripped so hard he bent the steering wheel. It Should be been really, really bad but he didn't have a scratch on him and I was able to start the car and drive it onto the flatbed. We drive Nissans and they have always been reliable and low maintenance. I currently drive a murano (love it!) and my husband has an armada. I would look at the Pathfinder if you want a 3rd row. That is the one I will be looking at next as we now have 3 kiddos.

Thx for the replies! We are going back today because th kids want to see the choices. They want to try sitting in the back seats. I don’t blame them. They’re there a lot.

I have a Toyota Highlander and really like it. I traded my old Highlander in for the new one. I had that one for 10 years with no problems.

Love my Dodge Durango. Also love the you can buy a lifetime warranty for it. Chrysler is the only company that offers one Do they still offer it? I bought my van in 2009 and got the lifetime warranty. I've had several things fixed and when the radio went bad, it was replaced. Got my money back right there.

We had a Pathfinder and though it had some issues (we didn't take great care of it), it was still running at 300,000 miles when a deer totaled it. So, we looked into them last year but the newer models have some real reliability problems. I would recommend doing some good research on them before pulling the trigger. We have 2 Highlanders. Our newest one replaced an older Highlander which we purchased used. Love them both. They're consistently best in class for midsize (non-luxury) SUVs, though the limited models have pretty nice options. My sister has a VW Tiguan and it *is* pretty small. Not just for storage, which is not great, but also in general. The front passenger seat isn't even very comfortable, I feel boxed in when she's driving.

I have been driving my Pathfinder for four years and I love it. I have three car seats and I really cared about how easy it was to get into that third row. Good luck with your decision!

I bought a 2014 with only 13,000 miles on it last year. Bought the lifetime warranty before the certified pre-owned warranty expired. I think these warranties only make sense to purchase if you plan on keeping the car for a long time. One major repair and it can pay for itself. I like the peace of mind it gives me. It pays for everything but wear items like brakes. Because it is a Chrysler warranty (not a third party one) the dealer has no problem getting things covered. They always act relieved when they confirm it is the Chrysler one.

They changed the seat though I could no longer reach the accelerator so no more Volvo for me. paigepea, how did you like it? And check to see if the 3rd row comes in the BMW X5 there. I actually preferred it to the Volvo though both are wonderful.

The car I drive hasn’t been mentioned here- Buick Enclave. I love it! It’s beautiful inside and out. Seems luxurious and has lots of bells and whistles and I’ve had no problems. I drive a teen and preteen and their friends and I also don’t feel I gave up room in the very back (like the Kia version). Worth a look.

My mom and dad have had a Traverse for about 6-7 years. It is comfortable and they have had no problems other than regular maintenance.

Also, we are looking at CPO cars and the Volvo has a 2015 which brings the cost down whereas the Q7 wasn’t manufactured that year. The 2017 is still very expensive and the 2015 is older technology.

UGH.
