This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I am sorry to be 2 days late for the June thread. It has been quite a week. I was feeling so down about Cindy's passing on Tues nite and was just sitting staring at my computer screen when my email bipped. It was the sweetest note from Cindy's granddaughter, Maggie, asking if it was ok to keep in touch with me because "I remember how much you liked hearing about what me and my brother are doing". is that the sweetest note? We have chatted a couple of times since.
On Wed they decided to cast my arm. I don't know what the problem was but it was extremely painful and when I relaxed the arm the cast rolled and twisted the wrist. After a night of walking the floor I went in the next morning and they agreed something was wrong. By this time I had such claustrophobia that I just had to get it off. They agreed that I needed a hard splint that could be unwrapped a bit when the claustrophobia hits.
So that's where I am now. It's not painful and I only have one black eye left. I am on the mend. Typing with one hand is difficult so I won't be doing a lot of chatting.
@elaynef, the wedding photos are beautiful. I'm glad you were able to go and help.
Hugs to all you dear friends and special thoughts for Cindy's family as they celebrate her life!

Thank you for setting up the June thread, nylene, knowing how difficult it is for you to use your computer these days. I love coming here to just chat among friends. I hope that your arm will heal quickly now that they have stopped manipulating it! And I am glad that the pain has subsided. Please look after yourself. That IS sweet about Cindy's granddaughter asking to stay in touch. That shows just how much love Cindy had for you and how much her sweetness has been passed on to her family. Even from cyber space, you have truly become part of their family. June is starting slowly here at the farm. It has been raining every day, and fairly cool outside. I have not been able to put the last seeds into the ground or wash my windows as planned. But I was able to put together a few pages with the photos I printed after my trip to Calgary last weekend. Happy June, Pokeys!

Hoping all the Pokeys are having a peaceful Sunday.
We were in town for a Seniors' breakfast. Now back home and hope to put the last of the veggie seeds into their rows in the garden. Then we are invited to a weiner roast for supper. In my mind, a kinda perfect Sunday.
What are YOU up to?

Happy Monday! Thanks nylene for the new thread. Yeah, I really miss our dear sweet scrapincin too. She was apart of my life for so long it will be weird not having her cheering me on. But I like to think she is cheering us all on in spirit. I still feel a little shocked and numb.
Thanks for all the birthday well wishes. I had a great time on my actual birthday. We went to dinner and shopping. My dh got me some nice gifts too. One of them is an easel. I can't wait to get it up so I can use it. I have some large canvases I want to paint and having an easel will be better to paint than on the table.
All the floral art I did I am making into a video. I hope to have it done this week. I did so many painting and looking forward to sharing with you.
I see there are many June challenges going on. I hope you ladies are enjoying them. I would like to do at least one lo this month so I gotta check these challenges out.
woodysbetty - Happy belated birthday. I think you might be the only person I ever known to share my birthday. So awesome! I hope you had a nice time.
nylene - Sending you a big hug! I am so sorry you got to deal with all this pain. I hope you are finding comfort in resting. Hang in there!!! How sweet for Cindy's dgd to chat with you. I know that was special for the both of you. I really hope the grands especially continue to get the love and support they need now. They were so close to Cindy and I know it's tough.
grammadee - Oh that rain is slowing down your gardening. I hope it slows down soon so you can get that gardening going. Do you usually plant the same veggies every year?
@elaynef- What pretty pictures of the wedding. So glad you had a ball and wishing the couple a wonderful life. Did they go on a honeymoon? LisaDV - How's it going?

Hi pokey peas...been playing on the team challenge this month so I haven't had a moment to check in. Hugs to you nylene, you a tough cookie and I am so glad you are beginning to really heal on so many levels...I think it's lovely that Cindy's GD wants to keep in touch!! So happy to share my birthday with you kellyr21, my Gemini twin!! Here are some cards I cased and made I this weekend...trying to build up my stash for Christmas gifts...a shaker card, a fun grunge stamped card and just a hello friend card.

Your cards are lovely, woodysbetty. I have enjoyed seeing your LO's this month as well. Hoping you and kellyr21 had wonderful birthdays. Hope you have a little less pain and a little more mobility every day, nylene. How are you doing with your "million" wedding photos, @elaynef? You are going to have so much fun scrapping that wedding! Have you been getting back into sewing since your quilting retreat, LisaDV? Glad you are getting crafty again, msliz. Can't wait to see your pages. I have been on a scrapping binge the last few days, using western and summer papers and pic's from my weekend with the grandkids. Still have several more from that weekend I want to finish, but they will have to wait. I am busy packing up for a weekend scrap retreat with justjac. We decided that we would both work on Christmas cards, trying out our new dies for interactive cards. So this is a complete change in direction for me: summer to winter, and pages to cards. To earn points for challenges, I have been linking my pages all over the place, but thought I would share the last two here. These are some of my favorites. Hard to go wrong with pics of cute little boys playing outside! out & about & on the go by Gramma Dee, on Flickr out & about & on the go 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr No wifi at the retreat, so will have to wait until Monday to check in again. Have a wonderful weekend, Pokeys!

I love them! misliz looking forward to seeing what you've been up to justjac have fun at your retreat and try to keep grammadee out of trouble How are you doing with your "million" wedding photos, elaynef? You are going to have so much fun scrapping that wedding! I have about 300 ordered and have been talking to dgd about the albums. She likes all my plans and seems to be excited about them. It is so nice to scrapbook for someone who is excited about it, too. What pretty pictures of the wedding. So glad you had a ball and wishing the couple a wonderful life. Did they go on a honeymoon? They drove down the beach to Miami. She promised to send me her pictures from there so I can add them to her book. She said she didn't have many. I thnk it was raining most of the time they were there. I've been catching up on grands albums while waiting for my wedding photos. Almost totally caught up....had a good book to listen to this week that kept me in the room.
some more photos from Florida: We found these little guys in a hammock near the beach. And dh with some of the dgs at the wedding supper.

Hi, Pokeys! woodysbetty, I love your cards. Is that a die on the heart card? So gorgeous. i love the little Panda, very clever. I own that set of stamps on the 3rd card. I think i will scraplift that! I love the designs on your layouts too. You have been a very busy bee! Love the vintage page! Elaynef, 300 photos sounds like a lot, but it sounds like you are doing multiple albums. Can't wait to see what you do. I love your photos of the lizard, raccoon and family. LisaDV, I'd love to see what you learned in your quilting class. I used to do a lot of quilting with my girls, but not much now. msliz, are you in the June Scrap challenge? What artistic things are you doing? kellyr21 send me a print of one of her paintings. it is so beautiful and I plan to hang it in my scraproom. It's one of her beautiful women in multi-colored dresses and turbans holding hands. A quote about friendship is across the bottom. Now I can't wait to see what you are painting next, @kellrr21. i just love your work. grammadee, you have done some delightful layouts. It really helps to have photos of those cute little guys, I'm sure. I will get to the gallery and leave you love. It sounds like you are doing lots of challenges this month. I look forward to getting back to scrapping. Last night I was preparing my lesson for my 6 year olds for Sunday. I wanted to make treasure chests to go with the lesson to have them glue in their journals. I tried making one cute one with my rt. hand and found that I can't cut paper with scissors!! I cut them on the Sil. and tried to decorate them. Not a chance! I could get the paper between the blades but couldn't get the right angle to cut. I felt like a 3 year old as the paper would just bend. LOL Needless to say, they are super simple treasure chests, but they will do. I'll check in on Wed after I have seen the doctor. I am praying that it is healing and is in the right place. I'm ready to have this splint off.

justjac and I are back from our weekend scrap retreat. Had a great time, and created a bunch of cards between us. I plan to share some of my cards (or representatives of sets of cards) I put together over the weekend once I get my vehicle unloaded. But I have decided to give my knees a rest today. Last week the knee that was doing all the work while the other was healing suddenly decided it didn't want to do that--or anything much really--any more. I can take five or ten steps--or a hundred--and then suddenly out of nowhere my knee feels a sharp pain and refuses to hold my weight. Jacqueline helped me a lot with lugging things around for the crop. I have a doctor's appointment for Wednesday morning, and am hoping for a referral to the ortho guy and to a physio therapist. The venue we were at was lovely: outside the city, near a lake. Friday and Saturday were lovely weatherwise as well, but Sunday we woke up to rain. It was pretty stormy as we were all packing up, and we drove through rain for about half the way home. Thankfully it was dry when we got here for Jacqueline to move her stuff from my vehicle into hers. But over night the storm found us. Strong winds blew down two trees across our laneway! Dh is going to figure out how to use this lawn tractor to push them over to the side. Still raining... Anyway, that is my news for a Monday morning. Hoping you are all doing well. Good luck with your doctor appointment, nylene. Have loved seeing your creations in reponse to the June team challenges, msliz and woodysbetty. Looking forward to seeing some wedding pages, @elaynef.

Grammadee, if you can wrap that knee with an ace bandage, it might help until you can get tx. (From someone who has 2 steel knees)

Good Thursday evening, Pokeys! How is everyone doing? What did the doctor say, nylene? I hope if you were crafting for Sunday school last week you will soon be able to do some scrapping. Did you get a chance to check out the challenges yet, kellyr21? Lots of scrappy inspiration! And LisaDV has thrown in some challenges for organizing and sewing, too. Glad you are getting some scrapping done, @elaynef. Would love to see some of them. I have been in card making mode, but managed to put together a page today. This is our 15 year old dgs, at the wheel of my vehicle. He has his learners' permit, so asked if he could drive when we were going to his hockey "dry land training". Get on the Road by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Saw the doctor yesterday and he sent me for xrays. In the morning, he plans to give me a cortisone shot in that knee. I have to set up physio appointments for next week. I was able to do some hand weeding in the garden today. I use a hoe as a support to get down on my knees, then crawl along the row to weed and use the hoe to pull myself upright again. The weeds came out easily after all the rain so it went a little more quickly than I thought.

Hi, Pokeys. i am happy to say that the Dr has decided no surgery needed. He looked at my xrays for so long, had one retaken, but finally said it seems to be healing and will be ok. I am so grateful. I really didn't want to start all over again. I still have a bit of a black eye. On Mon, DH saw the Derm.and he now has scabs and healing stitches on his face. At our Addiction meeting lAST NIGHT WE WERE ASKED IF WE WERE IN A CAR ACCIDENT TOGETHER OR IF THERE WAS SOME DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INVOLVED! (SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS) They know us well enough to actually know what happened. LOL grammadee, I am sorry about your knee issues. I hope the injection will help. I am sooo impressed with yours and justjac's cards. Wow, you are fast scrappers. Did you get your fallen trees cleaned up? I need to go over to the game threads and see what all of you are doing. I have been able to use the Silhouette to cut things for planned pages and I bought a stitched flower die that little Alex has been helping me run through the Big Shot. He chooses papers from my scraps and I am getting a good supply of pretty colors. Other than that, no scrappy stuff going on here. I am really missing it. Sending hugs to each of you. Hope to be better able to post when they shorten my cast in 10 days.

Hi Pokeys, I haven't posted on the thread in awhile, and I haven't done much scrapping over the last week or two, but I'm still kicking around. I muddled through a very stressful final exam week with DD15, we've had about a dozen trees removed from our property (and a big mess left behind to clean up,) and my chronic pain DD19 will be having a surgery on Monday. It's another septoplasty and endoscopic sinus like she had when she was 13, but it didn't heal straight last time. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
ETA, sorry I had to run after posting. I was writing while I was waiting to pick up DD15 from the town's annual carnival, and when she and 2 friends piled into the car I had to post it quick before putting my phone away. I'll post something chattier later on.

Wow, msliz! You have had a tough month! I hope the surgery goes well! Our laneway looks like a tornado went through it, but it was just a really strong wind, with trees that had been standing in water too long and their roots let go. Some fell right onto the laneway, and some were seriously leaning over it. Dh was able to push the ones on the ground to the side with the tractor, and to cut the leaning ones off at the edge of the road, but they are all still right there. A company that does wellsite preparation has agreed to come here when they have a day or two and cut out the trees that are leaning and remove the ones on the ground. Good news about your wrist, nylene. The two of you must have been a sight at the meeting. Glad your group knew you well enough not to think there really HAD been some domestic violence! Glad your dgs is helping you do die cutting. You will have some pretty pages when you are ready to get back into crafting. My knee is quite a bit better today. I want to rest it a day or two more, but I was able to go downstairs without doing the twostep on each tread today. Did some sorting and putting away in my craftroom today. Found the photos and papers and embellishments I want for the next couple of pages and did some stamping to use on those pages. Having fun with the June challenges. (I have a little metal SUN which will earn my team two points all by itself!) Okay, off to wrap dh's Fathers' Day gift. What are your plans for Fathers' Day? Dh had said he wanted to go out for Sunday brunch, but this evening he doesn't seem to know if he wants to do that anymore. Guess we will see in the morning.

msliz, prayers for a successful surgery and quick healing for your dd. Hugs to you, sweet Momma. nylene, I'm so happy you don't have to have surgery. That's funny about your class. It's so good that you have the type of relationship they can razz you guys a bit. Laughter is definitely the best medicine at my house. grammadee, glad your knee is doing a bit better. UGH for the downed trees. kellyr21, can't wait to see your latest paintings. @elaynef, woodysbetty, justjac. Waving hi! I typed a message out last week, but I guess it didn't get sent. oops. We don't have central air yet, but we've purchased 2 portable ac units: one for downstairs; one for up. Well yesterday was so hot that even with the units running it was still 77F in the house. At least the humidity was out. Don really wanted a fire outside, but it was just not going to happen. I've spent enough time goofing off, DH's birthday is today and I have to go make his birthday cake and wrap his presents. He says he spent enough extra money on his gaming convention, so he didn't want anything. When I pushed for something, all he wanted was a back scratcher. He's always using mine. So I've bought him 10 of them. I haven't decided if I'm going to wrap each individually or not.

nylene I am so glad you don't have to have surgery. LisaDV we have two portable units, too. So far we've only used the one on our second floor. That seems to keep the whole house okay. If it gets much hotter we will have to break out the other one. msliz I hope your daughter's surgery goes well. grammadee we took my FIL to the buffet for supper yesterday. It was soooo busy. Somehow my weekend is over, but I have a hard time remembering what I did. I took photos of my cards, so I hope to share them today. I went to a zumba class my friend was teaching. I had a lunch and shopping date with a friend Sunday and finished my layout for my Book of Me class. I will share the layout on the construction challenge thread. Have a great day. Only two more weeks of school.

Thanks for the kind words. Her surgery went fine, but she's miserable. They gave her very little by way of pain meds, so she's feeling it. She'll get the stints out later this morning, so maybe that will help. I've been loving checking out all the cards and layouts on the board. It'll be great when I can get back to my table

msliz, I'm glad your DD did well with the surgery. I hope she continues to improve. DGD had surgery on her knee last week and they gave her 10 pain pills. She hasn't dared use them after the first day because she needs them to sleep. I know first hand about addictions to opioids. It's a balancing act between pain and addiction. justjac, your cards are really pretty. I love experiencing multi media through you "braver" Peas here. i didn't know you taught clear through June. I'm sure you are looking forward to a break. grammadee, the trees sound like a big bunch of work. I am glad you are getting help with it. I am loving all the June challenges! I hope when I can get back to scrapping there will still be some fun challenges. I am getting antsy. LisaDV, how is your DD doing in the heat this summer? Heat is very hard on our DD. I hope she is doing well. It sounds like you have a lot going on. Happy b-day belated to your DH. kellyr21, Have you been doing more painting? I think you should put your beautiful girls on cards. They are so lovely and colorful. @elaynef, how are the albums coming? I took Alex to a Park yesterday. it had a zipline that was low enough for him to climb on on one end, but he had to drop at the other end and run the rope back to the short end. He didn't seem to mind and played for a long time. Finally he ran over and said, "Grandma, my limbs are tired!" When I asked if he knew what limbs were, he looked at me like I wasn't very smart and explained that they were arms and legs. This boys says the darndest things. 5 year-olds! I am looking forward to a shorter cast next week. I might even be able to type with one hand and one finger! LOL

msliz, glad the surgery went well. I hope the removal of the stints will ease her pain. Please keep us informed how she's doing! justjac, those cards are beautiful! I just love them. I had to fave your Christmas Tree pop up cards and your "Who Am I" page which was just amazing and so well done. Hurray for only 2 more weeks of school! What are your summer vacay plans?? nylene, I hope you do get a shorter cast next week. You are right, dd doesn't do well in the heat. It sets her issues off. Luckily, we only have short periods of time where the air is necessary. This year, we've ran it for one week and then about 30 hours during that massive heat the other day. Now our windows are open and fans are running, but no air. This morning it was a bit nippy in the house. Today you would be comfortable in a tshirt and shorts or jeans, if you wanted. My kind of weather. As for quilting, I knew nothing about quilting when I started this quilt. I've actually decided I'm going to rip out the quilting I've already done. I want to change the bobbin thread to one that matches the backing. Then I'll re-attempt. I've also made some practice pieces with scraps. Now to get the machine out and practice before attempting it again on my quilt. It seems I have more time to watch the videos than I do to actually practice. I wish I had some exciting news or life stories for you all, but life is just the same old thing here -- some cleaning although not nearly enough, animal care, some projects but never enough time for all of them. And everything is on hold for a flair up by dd from traveling this past week. She's starting to do better though, as you can tell since I've posted yesterday and today. This past week, if I wasn't doing some of the critical home/animal care items, I was sitting with her as she likes to snuggle with momma when she's hurting. Oh, I did get my craft desk cleaned off today so I could do a layout. I've been getting a bit twitchy lately since my last layout traditional layout was 5.15 and my last digi layout was 5.18. If I don't get something paper creative happening, my family is NOT going to like me very much. Later.

Good Wednesday morning, Pokeys! Glad you dd's surgery went well, msliz. Hope she is more comfortable today. Good you are able to be out & about, nylene. Those ziplines are really fun for the kids and they get lots of exercise running it back up the hill. Dd just sent photos this morning of their little guy at a class field trip where they had one of those. We don't want you to get too twitchy, LisaDV. Hope you got that LO completed! And, of course, that your dd is feeling better. Dh's arthritis really kicks into gear some days, but we are never sure exactly what triggers it. Those pour paintings are amazing, justjac. And they look fun to do. Looking forward to seeing some of your paintings, kellyr21. And didn't you say you might do a page this month? My knees are doing much better. That's a good thing, as I need to get some major cleaning done before the holiday weekend. Going up and down stairs is not nearly so daunting now, so I am back to more organizing in the basement: need to put away the stuff I have saved from donations/recycle/dumpster so the little guys can play down there when they get here on the 28th. Also have to make up beds and do vacuuming/dusting in the bedrooms upstairs. I woke up this morning realizing I need to get a couple of cards in the mail this week and I will need one for here just after the long weekend, so I started scrolling through Pinterest for some ideas. I have two cards drying now, and have made a good start on the 3rd one I need. I was going to snap a photo of the ones that are finished, but my phone needs to be plugged in for awhile first. Will share later. Okay, off to the dank dark basement... (at least it is COOL, which is more than can be said for the rest of the house in this heat!)

DD had a really rough night last night. She was vomiting for most of it, but her stomach is much calmer today, and she's been getting a little sleep off and on throughout the day. I'm exhausted too. I'm just watching videos to distract myself until bedtime. LisaDV, big hugs to you and your DD. grammadee, those cards made me smile. Love OLDometer Everybody get healthy and stay that way!

msliz, I am glad your DD is getting some rest. The poor little gal. I hope she continues to improve. LisaDV, I am glad your twitches are receding. I am looking forward to having my scrappy twitches leave too. Hopefully just a few more weeks. grammadee, I love your cards. That Oldometer is too fun not to scraplift!! woodysbetty, how are you doing on the travel pages? I think you are posting some on the other threads, but we'd love to see some here too. I am running off to a meeting. I'll check in again soon.

msliz, I'm so glad to read that she slept well but sorry that the stint removal didn't go as easily as we'd hoped. I pray she continues to improve. Hugs. We had are second fire of the season today on the longest day of the year. It was a beautiful evening - perfect sky, perfect temp, perfect company. Off to bed, well a shower first to get the smoke smell off first. Good night to all.
