Just a quick reminder from the OP "Anyone can post here, obviously, but this is not the place for those with opposing views to grill conservatives and demand that they defend every word of every post ad naseum. If you see that as us not wanting to be challenged on our views, it’s probably best not to contribute, and you can complain about that in every other thread you like." I check in about once or twice a week. But since half the page is hidden and I don’t see much chat from the regulars I just leave again. I miss coming in and chatting with the conservatives (independents and libertarians) Does the OP even stop in much any more?Yes, she pops in now and then, but life and... ya' know.

It's The Resistance, front and center. It's what they do. Yes, we like to ask questions, demand only facts that agree with us, and call only people on one side on their bullshit while letting those we agree with slide on their bullshit. Get used to it.We are.

Yes, we like to ask questions, demand facts, and call people on their bullshit. Get used to it. I love how they act like staying informed and demanding facts is somehow wrong. That's the way Trump likes them: uninformed and easily swayed. Interesting choice of words. Here. I love how you all act like you're going to accept any facts that contradict your narrative. Even the indisputable facts. Interesting to watch the twist as people try to explain away indisputable facts. What's funny is that you think you are ALWAYS right when you do it.

Many of us don't stop in anymore because liberals like Merge and others just can't bring themselves to be courteous and allow one thread for conservatives. They're selfish mother f***ers but what can you do? Did you see the one come here asking if a conservative pea had a "moral compass"? They can't help themselves and they think that if they shut us up by calling us out and calling us names, they win. The conservatives aren't bothering to respond to them anymore (that's part of the reason they come on this thread, they can't get us to engage on any other thread). But, we vote. Oh yes, we vote and right now, I'm "gloating" over the idea that Trump picks another justice for the Supreme court. In the end, we win because our candidates win and the policies we favor win. So, may I suggest you find other places on facebook or elsewhere to find a decent forum that people here like Merge have no access to and remember, come November, vote!! I’ve not posted here but this made me.you know what? Go fuck yourself. YOU are not the owner of this PUBLIC board. ANYONE can read and post. Even non members can read it. If you have an issue being called out on your daily diatribe of bullshit and nastiness, then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Nobody forces you to post here, you just can't stay away. Just like the old days....you bitch and complain and leave for a bit but you just can,t go and not return. You are so addicted to fighting and baiting and being right that you can't see past anything else. Do you still have a husband and a granddaughter? Go be with them if this place doesn't fulfill your rules. Find somewhere else to go lick Trump's ass. Even conservatives know who you are. Just stop. WOW! The ARROGANCE of y'all telling us to stay off YOUR Trump threads, then to "stay off all the other political threads and go play in your own sandbox" and then to come in here to harass and tell people "go fuck yourself" when you're asked to do the same. And insanely frothing while doing so. SMDH Sure you haven't. You're innocent and oh, so above it all.

When your own people are condemning you for telling the Democrats to harass the people you don't agree with (which could start violent riots), when your own people are distancing themselves from you because of that, you got it wrong, Maxine. Really wrong.

Bumping...
My knee jerk reaction last night was to feel quite sick to my stomach. I've been really hoping that Donald Trump is quite rogue and that eventually the Republicans would stand up for what's right. Many Republicans came out last night with statements against. Even my local congressman made a statement. It was quite weak, but it was something.
I watched the Trump interview on Hannity last night. I really tuned in to see the president. I am beginning to feel extremely irritated at the constant barage of justification based on emails/server. I just wanted to hear the conservative point of view and our president speak and I'm beginning to feel like the emails/server issue is just smoke and mirrors and I feel like at this point, it's nothing but a distraction.
Did anyone hear the president speak? What are your thoughts?
Does anyone have a reaction to the Republicans who came out against it?
Is anyone experiencing email/server fatigue? Feeling like emotions being manipulated?

I am more convinced they have something on him and possibly many of the RNC. Either that or he really did get promised 19B on oil once Putin can claim it from the Ukraine. He sounded like a puppet. I certainly hope they bugged him or his interpreter so someone in our intelligence community knows what was discussed. I’m happy that many Republicans spoke out. I will be a lot better if they do something other than just tweet about it. At this point, they should hold the SC hearings and pass protection for Mueller at a minimum. Otherwise, they just along for the ride with him.

I've found a nicer, kinder, place to discuss the matters that are important to conservatives without all the vitriol and hate that takes place here.

You can be sure some will be back to the political threads when they feel their side is in the right or the left is provably in the wrong on something big.

While you all claim the left doesn’t want to hear anything but the “approved messsge” , those on this thread actually practiced it. While I understand I can ruffle some feathers, there were liberals and independents that posted on this thread just offer a different perspective to a topic and not in a threatening way, but yet they were met with a very chilly reception. The truth is that until both sides are talking to each other and not past each other the country will continue down this rabbit hole we seem to be running down. But hey, if all you are interested in is an echo chamber maybe it’s best you find your “safe zone” to hide in.

It was just like Putin and I discussed X, Y, Z. No details. Sean didn't ask any either.

I'm actually an independent and enjoyed chatting on this thread like many others enjoy chatting in the 'what's for dinner' thread I really do think it's funny, just because of the thread name. Not trying to be a jerk. I read here often, but didn't post. (I don't think. I might have slipped up once or twice.) I really just wanted to try and understand what conservatives thought about various current events.

But I'm not going to laugh at them for talking about other things I see them as a group of friends that have gotten to know each other over the course of their sharing. I try to post there about my dinner plans, but I'm not always really good about pre-planning my meals.

Sigh.
No, it doesn’t bother me. It’s funny. Because the thread is called “ReConTarian Sandbox.” And a sandbox is where kids play. And sometimes, when kids get mad, they leave the sandbox, take their toys, and go play somewhere else. And you said you went somewhere kinder, and you weren’t going to participate in this sandbox anymore. Like kids do, when they don’t like how the play date is going. Get it?
It’s like how it would be funny if someone said they were “stewing” over what to cook that night in the What’s For Dinner thread.
And this is exactly why I didn’t participate here. Even when I post something innocent, that I found amusing (not in a derisive way, just in a made-me-giggle way), people get offended. Sorry, all.

I just read a good article that should be of interest to Conservatives. Article I think there's some misunderstanding by some who lean right & centre right. For people like me, it has never been about a need to never have a Republican in the White House. We've had Republicans in the White House & it has been ok. There's room for legitimate political disagreement. We can want the same things - reductions to unemployment, reductions in the # of abortions, etc., etc... and disagree as to how to achieve the goals. You have to draw the line, though, when the guy who is representing conservative values by holding the highest office in your country goes to a press conference & essentially sides with Putin over your own intelligence community. Yesterday's press conference should have been a breaking point. When your president is being applauded by the likes of David Duke, that should have been a breaking point. Just as folks years ago, as outlined in the article, realized that no matter how much they disagreed with the other party on economics, slavery was a dealbreaker, you all have to realize that Trump's actions should be a dealbreaker. You have to vote for people who'll support impeachment.
