Yes, I still have my old Creating Keepsakes, Making Memories, and Scrapbook ect. magazines, they're in upright magazines holders and generally just collecting dust, but I decided to grab one at random and actually scraplift/use a sketch from the magazine on a current layout; I was surprised how relevant the layouts were even though they were from 2010 and most exciting was how many 4x6 1 horizontal and 1 vertical sketches there were!
Has anyone else looked through their old magazines? Please tell me I am not the only one who has kept these...

I have some old magazines, but not many. I just don't look through them very often.

Coincidentally, I was cleaning out old books and magazines today, too. How about some of these titles?
Paper Kuts Power Book Ribbonaire Becky Higgins Creative Companion Scrapbooking with Lisa Bearnson Donna Downey's set of books
I even have Where's Thena?poetry book (not tossing that one!)

I didn't keep my magazines whole. I ripped out layouts that I wanted to scraplift. I still use those sometimes. I have a few 2 gallon bags full of ripped out pages.

I've never kept magazines since they just take up too much space. I do have several older idea books though.

I sold mine at a yard sale. I do have quite a few books. Love Becky Fleck PageMaps, those never go out of style!

You're not the only one. I have a whole collection of CK magazines, and then my favourites Simple Scrapbooks and Memory Makers sitting in magazine holders on my bookshelves in my scraproom. I also have a small collection of "Rubber Stamper" magazine. I wish I had more of those-they were great! Although I stopped buying CK about 2 years ago when they became so thin and not worth the money. Plus, the styles had changed so drastically from mine.
I never understood the idea of throwing them out-there is a ton of inspiration in them and my style is nothing like what is currently popular. I'm still a clean, linear, multi photo, two page layout girl so for me they are still relevant. When I realized all of the scrapping magazines were pretty much disappearing forever (the print mags) I made the decision to keep what I had. It's fun to pull one down off of the shelf, thumb through them again and get some new inspiration. It's sad to see so many companies that are now gone.
For now, I have the space, so they are staying. And I love having them.

Funny I just did that very thing day before yesterday..picked up an old CK magazine and as I was looking through it I was wondering if anyone else kept these things and looked back through..I normally don't keep them, I usually tear out the pages I care about which go into a binder but for some reason I guess I never got around to it and have several lying around. It was nice to actually look through a sbing magazine again..kind of miss doing that.

I'll never get rid of my Thena book!!! Signed copy as well!! I also have all the QVC Lisa B books... I used a TON of layout ideas from those books. Those 5 books are the reason why I got rid of all my magazines.

I have layouts from lots of magazines put into a three inch binder that is organized in about 15 different categories. It goes to crops with me and I lose it for a while when other people borrow it. It has some pretty old layouts in it that I still like for the design.

I kept most of the special issues and many of the idea books I collected over the years. I used to buy them with coupons back when that was still allowed at Michael's and JoAnn's so I have a lot of them. My "reference library" was the only thing I really unpacked when we moved 2.5 years ago. The previous owners left us some book shelves so I put all of my books on them, only to have the thing collapse about six months later. It killed me to have to pack all of them back up! That's what I get for unpacking any of my stuff before getting my permanent storage and shelving installed...

I recently got rid of all of my scrapbooking magazines dating back to 2006! I rolled my eyes at some things, noticed other things are back in style and was reminded that I still own several things and have yet to use them!

IMHO your saved print magazines are a wonderful resource. Well-designed layouts never go out of style, only the materials we use to create them. Hope you enjoy the inspiration, & happy scrapping!

I have tons of magazines- USA ones mentioned above and British ones too. Fortunately, I do not have a space issue as I know they will come in handy one day. ETA: also have plenty of Aussie mags.

When I had ten years worth of magazines taking up space, I decided to rip out the pages I wanted to keep and put them into binders. It saved a ton of space. I haven't looked through them in awhile, but there were some ideas worth keeping. Thanks for the reminder that I should pull the binders off the shelf and look through them again.

the only magazines I've kept are the Somerset Magazines that relate to papercrafting and scrapbooking. at $14.99 a pop, I hesitate to toss them. but no, I have not looked over any of them lately.
I struggled to get rid of all my CARDS magazines. remember those? the square ones from Northridge publishing. I also had the scrapbooking ones of those publications. those I finally sold off on the old 2Peas FSOT board.

I tore out pages in some but I still have many of my favorite volumes of Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks, Memory Makers, Scrapbooks, Etc. and various special editions. I enjoy looking through them from time to time. They represent a bygone era. (Sniff, sniff).

I recycled most of mine a couple years ago but still have quite a few on a shelf. I haven't looked at them recently but I imagine there are some articles and layouts that would still appeal to me.

I have saved only the Memory Makers books that I had layouts published in, and a PK Power Team book when my friend made the team. I think that's it

I actually pulled out an old issue from 2010 about a month ago and read through it. Some of the layouts have stood the test of time and others, not so well, but I still find inspiration in them.

I still have a few Paper Kuts, Memory Makers and Creative Keepsakes laying around. However, I have torn a few up just for layout inspiration and recycled the rest of the magazine.

I did the same thing, w/the pages in page protectors. I have 3 HUGE binders full! Since when I scraplift, I start by how many photos are on the layout & what their orientation is (vert vs. horiz.), I have mine separated by number of photos. I used the PL dividers. I really miss CK & Simple Scrapbooks.

I cut out layouts I like and keep them in plastic envelopes labelled 1 vertical, embellishments, patterned paper etc. I used to scan and print them out and keep in folders but find my new way easier to use. I can always ditch ones I decide I no longer want. I'm just about to dump the last of my CKs at our school fete along with all my Australian Scrapbooking Memories.
I do confess that I CANNOT throw out my entire collection of Simple Scrapbooks and in fact do go back and look at them still! And I keep all my Becky Higgins idea books too, some for sentimental value and some still to use. I really miss the magazines but am enjoying the Create online one (from Scrapbook Generation??) and am getting lots of inspiration from Pinterest these days too.

I didn't keep any of my magazines, but I did have some idea books. I looked through those a couple of month ago but my style has change so much there really wasn't any need to keep them. If I want inspiration now I just go to galleries or youtube. I do miss the printed mags though.

It's kind of sad. I loved getting those magazines. Wish there was a resurgence of interest in scrapbooking. Between the death of the magazines and the closing of most LSSs, it just makes me feel like we've lost something great.

I still have most of them! And I think that's a great idea. I'll definitely do it after I finish the project I'm working on.
I think it would be a fun challenge, too. Pick one and post it here, and then we could post our lifts of the page.
