With all the awfulness in the news, and here in the Refugee Pod, I was thinking that my grumbling over the DING DANG &$(%&$&#*@( packaging was petty. Then I realized it IS petty, but why not complain anyway. So that's mine... those god-awful @*$&%&#&@@*$ hard plastic shells they have over so many products...I forget what they're called, but you know them well I'll assume..the ones you need dynamite or a pickaxe to get into. growl... It was a new flashlight if anyone is interested. What's yours today?

My elderly parents won't allow the kids (5 of us) to pay for maintenance on their home. They will allow US to do the work.
I love them dearly and would gladly write a check to have a professional stain their deck, but no, I am spending another Saturday out of town working on their house. I am 60, so it's not getting any easier for me to work this hard!

My very extremely petty vent is my daughter in law to be and my son just got first ultrasound pics, and while they sent me a photo of them she has offered to scan them so I can see them better and my son said she will get to it when she gets to it. She quit her job this week so she's just at home. I have already done so much for them you wouldn't believe it and I ask for so little. I just want to clearly see those photos.

You need one of these: www.amazon.com/Zibra-Open-ZPCOPEN-GZ-Package-Opener/dp/B004UIHITY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1530292384&sr=8-4&keywords=package+scissorsI bought it years ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond with a coupon, and I know that it was nowhere near $30 at the time (maybe $19). The thing really works, so maybe they were able to raise the price. Anyhow, it lasts and really works on those awful plastic shells. I feel your pain.

I open and process all of the returns for my company. The amount of tape that people use to seal up boxes and bubble mailers is ridiculous. PSA : the seal that is provided on the average bubble mailer is sufficient enough. And you don’t have to wrap tape around and around and around a box to make sure it is sealed.

My petty vent is that it's going to be close to 100 today...and of course my 13yo has 2 baseball games later this afternoon...out of town. It's our first travel tournament so I'm not sure how to pack for everything we might need.

My petty vent maybe isn’t really that petty but it’s not up to me so venting is all I can do. My Dad (almost 88) refuses to move out of where he lives to a place that would be so much better for him. And today he refused to go sit outside with me opting to stay in the hot stuffy house.

we have a used above-ground pool we're trying to get installed. excavator and installer have been lined up since april. the spot is at the bottom of a shallow hill, 99% clay ground. so it never really dries out anyway, but we have not had 4 f*cking days of dry weather together since april, except once, when the excavator was on vacation. he says we have the worst luck he's seen in 30 years. I just want a pool lol! first world problem for sure, but c'mon.. at this rate we'll get it just in time to spend the $$$ to close it up for the season.

I'll play though I really don't think my vent is petty, because I am pretty pea-livid. My husband gets 2 weeks paid vacation a year. It is mandated the week of the 4th of July and the week of Christmas. So that is when I have taken my vacation each year. I am the Vice President of the company I work for.
I wrote it on the vacation schedule for this year back in January. The President of our company went on vacation the week of June 11th. The entire week. Then he came back and sent an email stating he was also taking the week of the 4th of July. I reminded him that I had that week. He told me too bad I would have to change my vacation plans as it was the only time he could get vacation time with his adult daughter and son. I said sorry but I already have reservations and we both can't be gone at the same time. His reply was sorry but he was taking that week.
So, I have cancelled our vacation and will be at work next week. I am livid to say the least as is my husband because now we can't take vacation at all this year.

My puppy will get a hold of pens and drag them under the bed and chew them. I found an old "grabber" in the garage that is to reach things off of the top shelf. My husband refuses to put his pens away and she gets them every time.

My petty vent is that I bought a turkey sandwich on Tuesday that cost 5.95. Today, I bought the same turkey sandwich from the same store but in slightly different location 4 blocks away and it was 6.45.

I went to lunch with a coworker today to a local restaurant with one of those garage doors that opens to the outside near the bar. The garage door was WIDE open with the A/C on full blast inside - it's 90 degrees with a heat index of 96 today. Jeez, waste much? No wonder the burgers are so dang pricey, they have to make up for the astronomical utility bill somehow I suppose...

I am so tired of dealing with sciatica. I've had it since January and can't sit down. A friend is in from out of town and a group of people are all getting together to watch fireworks. I can't go because it's 45 minutes away--and outdoors, so I can't really sit or stand in the same place for three hours. So tired of missing out on fun stuff.

He has advanced Parkinson's and really can't do much of anything any longer. We try to make sure he feels "in charge" of the projects. The drama it would create if we hired someone would not be pretty. Dad doesn't have long, so we try to deal!

I'll play. It's 9:40pm and DH is still in work. It was his half day (supposed to finish at 1:30pm), and Friday nights are takeaway nights. I worked an 11 hour shift too, and I'm so far past hungry that it's meeting me coming back. Huh.

My petty vent is we had a couple servers go down last night for undetermined reasons, at about 6 PM my time. Our engineers were working on it and I stayed up until it was resolved at about 2 AM my time, giving our client constant updates on their progress and even taking on some of the client's customer support (which is not in any way our actual responsibility, but I wanted to help out in a crisis as much as possible for relationship reasons). I sent an email debrief at about 2:45 AM my time with everything I knew at the time and a plan for a complete post-mortem this afternoon. My day finally ended at 3 AM today, and I'd been working since 7 AM yesterday. It was a LONG ASS DAY. And to be clear - everything was resolved and fully functional when I went to bed. And then my client started texting me at 6 AM my time (they're on the east coast), asking for updates. I'd already told him everything about what caused it and how it was fixed and was clear about that in my email - the only thing to do was this afternoon's post-mortem to determine what could have been done differently to avoid and an action plan for the future.
I understand he was stressed. Having your service down SUCKS. But damn. Let me get more than three hours of sleep, especially since everything was 100% functional and there was a plan in place for today. And he knew full well I'd been working all day, since I had a meeting with him at 8 AM yesterday. Anyway. I'm exhausted and bitchy and trying to get prepared to be out on vacation for two weeks starting on the 4th.

I have petty vents.
One of the reasons I took the job I have is because holidays were paid days off.
Suddenly, nope! Worked Memorial day. Working July 4th. All holidays are on the table. WTH.
Also, I don't feel appreciated by my teens. I swear, I could hand them bars of gold and they'd complain that I was making them carry heavy stuff.
I'm just sick of hearing all the complaints. I do my best.
