Correlation is not causation.
(This is not any kind of endorsement of what he said - it was awful. But saying his movie bombed *because* of his tweets does not follow. It may well have bombed anyway.)

Yes, his tweets were awful and vile. But why you people continue to laser-focus on random vileness from impotent Trump-haters while ignoring the daily vileness from Trump himself, which can actually harm real people, is beyond me.

Which people aren't real people? Trump's employees? Baron Trump? Who are these people who, according to you, are less important to the extent that they aren't real people?

Don't like the word "real"? Go ahead and take it out. Does not change the meaning of the sentence in any way.

So I should dismantle the Peter Fonda shrine in my living room and cancel the Fondettes Fan Club meeting, or... 🤔

I didn't realize Peter Fonda was even still around, let alone relevant, until his nasty tweet the other week.
In fairness, the movie only opened in FIVE theaters, I'm not sure you can expect blockbuster numbers for a movie with that limited a release. It has an approval rating of 60% at rotten tomatoes, so about average. It's number 126 on the top 200 limited release movies so far in 2018. Frankly, I'm not sure why *anyone* is calling this "Peter Fonda's movie" - he isn't a writer, director, or producer - and the role he does play is a very small bit part.

I’m going with “Yet another movie with Peter Fonda in it bombs.” Totally unrelated to his reprehensible tweets. The number of hit movies with Peter Fonda is a very small percentage of the movies that he has been in. 3:10 to Yuma and Ghost Rider are the only “successes” in the past 20 years.

Fonda's recent filmography has been a bunch of small indie films that no one saw. No one would have seen this either, even before his gross tweets. He's largely irrelevant in the entertainment industry and has been for some time.
But hey, you and your ilk are great at lying to yourselves, so go right ahead and believe this would have been a box office smash if it weren't for your great principled refusal to see a movie you'd never even heard of.

The only one that comes to my mind is Ghost Rider. Isn't that movie like 30-40 years old by now? (Not even worth a Google check.) We can all agree that Peter Fonda is no Henry Fonda!

Why?I didn’t read it as Lucy valuing anyone more than anyone else. I’m going out on a limb, as evidenced by yesterday’s mass shooting, Trump takes aim at everyday citizens who don’t have secret Service details keeping them safe, while the possibility of any random person actually having access to Barron Trump is next to zero. For me, real was used as a synonym for common, everyday, ordinary.

Why?I think you may be confused. It’s trump who values some people more than others. Not a good quality for the President of the United States. Not a good quality at all. Especially when that person is suppose to be the president of all Americans and not just the chosen ones. And it shouldn’t matter to the president there are those who will not support anything the president does.

Easy Rider with jack nicholson Which is 49 years old... The only people pretending that Peter Fonda is/was a current box office draw is the right-wing sites. I’m not excusing his tweets - a grown man should never ever say those things. And, if he hadn’t tweeted that movie would still bomb.

He also was in Ulee’s Gold, which I really liked and was Oscar nominated in 1997. But that was the last critically acclaimed movie since Easy Rider. (I’m a movie geek)
