So it’s hot, we’re all staying super hydrated (I swear I’ve drank a few gallons of water today already, lol) I came in from swimming to have a bunch of fruit that I picked up at Whole Foods this morning.
The champagne mangos are sooooooo good! I bought 5 of them (I’m the only one here that really likes mango, unless it’s in a smoothie) and one of the really ripe ones tastes just like marshmallows!!
I eat a ton of fruit in the summer—breakfast, lunch and snacks.
What is your favorite fruit(s) and do you do anything special with them?
Smoothies, grilled, salads?

Watermelon! When my kids were little I used to make fruit pops with mango chunks & Green yogurt (maybe a bit of honey) blended in a blender and frozen in Popsicle molds. You can pretend you're eating ice cream for breakfast.

Oooh those mangos sound yummy. I'll have to look for them. I will eat buckets of watermelon, cantaloupes and kiwis this time of year. Those huge golden kiwis are so sweet! They taste nothing like traditional green kiwis.

the 3 week strawberry season ended here, so we are back to cherries. We eat a lot more of them now that we have our fancy cherry-pitting gadget. Cherry pitterI'm gonna go ahead and @ elaine, since she likes to get us all buying gadgets (I bought a hot dog cutter thing yesterday thanks to her - I cant wait to use it! LOL)

If they are in season and perfectly ripe and at the peek of yumminess my favorites include:
Pears (I think they are underrated because to be best they need to be perfect, in season ripe- then nothing better) Peaches Nectarines Cherries Strawberries (wild ones used to grow on the hillside of childhood home- tiny but the BEST!) Raspberries (going out to pick a few wild ones today!) eta Watermelon! (I'm afraid I could "ETA" forever with anything fresh and in season)

I own a similar one also from Progressive. Mine isn’t shaped like a cherry - it is a boring rectangle, but it works. Tip for pitting cherries: put them in a bowl of ice water before you pit them. Cold cherries pit more cleanly and there isn’t as much juice all over the place.

I wish I was the kind of person who loves to just snack on fresh fruit, but I just don’t eat a lot of it. I do enjoy many things made with fruit, but the texture of most raw fruit is off putting to me. I do enjoy watermelon on a hot day.
I make a great triple berry pie with blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries, so that’s my favorite way to eat fruit in the summer.

Cherries, blueberries and apples.
I made chicken salad earlier in the week with rotisserie chicken and fresh cherries. Cherries are amazing in chicken salad. You’ll never go back to grapes.

I love cherries! They’re in season now here in the Okanagan and I can’t wait to dig in. 😊

Muscat grapes. They’re like little capsules of the sweetest juice just barely held together by the thinnest of skins. When I buy them, I hide them so that I am the only one who can eat them. Fresh locally grown raspberries and strawberries. Ripe Galia melon. And I love pears, but given that their window of perfect ripeness is only about twenty minutes, I don’t eat them very often.

I am wild for fresh cherries, and the season has just started. I just eat them plain, and we don't have a pitter, so I have to be very careful as I eat them because I HATE when the pit touches my tongue. The taste is just BLEAH!

this is where I fess up that I struggle with fresh fruit. I want to like, I keep buying and trying it...but I really prefer tinned fruit in most cases.
I think it's because, except for grapes and melon when we lived in Cyprus, we really didn't have fresh fruit growing up and in my young adult years, I couldn't afford it and I never really developed a taste for it. I keep trying though - both because it's healthier and because I want MY kids to grow up with fresh fruit at home.
I do like grapes (only green seedless) and melon (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew)....apples are okay sliced.
I like crumbles and crisps and pies and ....other baked goods with fruit

Dang, that sounds good. We prefer apples over grapes in our chicken salad, but I will be trying cherries next time. Do you add any fresh herbs? We eat an amazing amount of watermelon around here and are watching the fig tree closely as they are getting near ripe.

I like cherries, strawberries, peaches, nectarines, grapes, figs, pears, watermelon and I think that's it. I like mango but I can't cut it easily myself so I leave it for DS or my dad to cut if they buy one. I also like pineapple. Same thing applies.
I don't like raspberries, blackberries or blueberries (I would say I hate them all equally).

I only like fresh fruit...nothing cooked or blended.
Raspberries are my all time favorite, blackberries and strawberries if I pick them myself.
Watermelon, nectarines, peaches, Fuji apples.

You can pretend you're eating ice cream for breakfast. I can never seem to pick a good watermelon anymore! I wait for our local corn market to open to get watermelon—because they always sample it so we know it’s good. I usually get watermelon from the fruit bar! Lol

I’ll have to try this. I do make chicken salad with the dried cherry flavored Craisins, and we love it.

I put up a ton of peaches each summer for smoothies. I combine them with other fruits but they are my base as I can't eat bananas.
My favorite is actually cantaloupe. So far I haven't had a good one this summer but it is a bit early yet.

Too funny, tarragon is my go-to herb for chicken salad, along with all the ingredients you listed (I posted it on the dinner thread earlier today). Glad to hear it goes well with cherries, too.

We are in Italy right now, and have eaten prosciutto and melon daily. I can’t wait to get home and find the best market for delicious cantaloupe.

I have finally realised most fruit here is either rock hard or tastes like cotton wool. I want to like it but it never ripens well, with the exception of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, all of which I have on cereal. There is nothing more delicious than fresh Scottish raspberries.

I love watermelon and could seriously eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, especially if it was cold (the watermelon). I also love cherries.

I can't think of a fruit I don't like. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be peaches. Living in Georgia, I eat my fill. Most evenings in the summer I have a fruit salad or a smoothie with fresh fruit.

Raspberries. I LOVE raspberries so much. And grapes and cherries. I went grocery shopping this morning and now have all of those in my fridge.
