Donna will be missed so much. I didn’t know her, really, but felt a small connection as someone who had fought cancer. When she graciously accepted my offer to send her my dress to wear for a wedding I was thrilled. I loved my dress but loved the thought of someone else wearing it and enjoying it far more than I liked having it hanging in my closet. I also expected she wasn’t really up for shopping and thought it would make things easier for her if she liked it and it fit her. Very selfishly, I was so sad, and yes, disappointed when she was too ill to attend the wedding. The picture Donna shared of herself when she tried it on is the lasting image I’ll have when I remember her. Her smile was absolutely illuminating. My husband tells me that my smile lights up a room and I can only imagine how many times Donna heard those words as hers truly did. I’m sad for those who have to continue living in this world without Donna in it but am so happy she’s at peace and rejoicing in the kingdom of heaven. ETA: jenjie thank you for sharing about your relationship with Donna. I can’t stop the tears. You sending your dress to Donna was so special and it fit her wonderfully. I’m sure you made her feel beautiful.

jenjie I don't know about reaching out to her DH. Maybe give it a couple days and see if he reaches out. I am sure they are surrounded by friends and family right now. I ended up sending him a PM. Of course I second guesssed myself as soon as I sent it. “Adam this is Donna’s friend Jen from 2peas online community. We spoke when you responded to a PM I had sent Donna. I’m so very sorry. I’m acquainted with what you’re going through. Know that I and many others are praying for you and the boys. I’ll be sending you some of the kind things that have been said about Donna. Everyone thought very highly of her. In the meantime I wanted to share a few things she said to me specifically. I pray it blesses you.” “I feel the need to share my journey with all of them. I want them to know that I am at peace with my fate. I want to glorify God with my testimony.” “Let me know if you ever see “poor me” show up. That is not what I want to portray. I have the hope of spending eternity in the presence of God.” He responded, “Yeah, sounds like her 🙂”

Jen, can you update your op to include the beautiful statement from her son? I I don’t know if everyone is reading the whole thread after posting and what he wrote was so beautiful, I would hate for anyone to miss it.
Thank you for being such a good friend to Donna and for reaching out to Adam.

christine58 thank you. I hope so. Nothing amazing. I have felt the impact of kind words, or people saying “I remember” or “I miss them too.” We took Fred’s parents to dinner for father’s day. We ran into young friends from church. They have never met his parents. The guy shook his dad’s hand and said what a great man he thought Fred was. I appreciated him doing that and I know they did, too.

Those words from her son brought a lump to my throat. I would say that she should be honoured to have had a son like him.

My heart breaks for her family, but I smile when I read how she feels about heaven.
We are such an unusual community here. Most of us have never met, yet we know intimate things about each other, and develop a genuine affection for friends who we know mostly by avatars. We fight like cats and dogs about important things-uncrustibles and politics. Nothing is too much, and anything/everything is covered. When something like this happens, we all drop our differences and become the strongest force in the world: women who love.
I shall miss Donna, whom I’ve never met, and know that heaven is a brighter place and her suffering is over. I am proud and privileged to be a member of this community. We are something else!!

It's just so terrible to lose a beautiful soul to the villain cancer. May she rest safely in the arms of her Lord and may her family know His comfort and peace.

Thank you jenjie for such kind and sincere support you gave Donna. I can tell you are an extraordinary person.
I don't post a lot on the boards, but always smiled reading Donna's posts. Her "shine" came thru in her words. I will miss seeing her on the boards.
Her son's tribute warms my heart. I can only imagine how proud and humbled she would be to read that.
