After your periods have stopped for a year, do you still get the symptoms? Fraid so 😏 2 years + for me. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) It's been about 14 months for me so far and I don't seem to be getting the hot flashes like I was, but I feel like I have other hormone related symptoms.

I’m not out of the woods yet, that’s for sure.

As a Pharmacist, I just want to let you know that not all herbal remedies are safe. Sage is one that can, in some cases, cause problems so if you have seizures, are diabetic or take anti- anxiety medication, you should definitely speak to your dr before using sage. Also talk to your dr if you are taking other drugs that could have an adverse effect on your liver like statins.
All that said, sage has been shown to be effective in reducing some of the symptoms of menopause including night sweats and hot flashes.

Thanks for the recommendation Gar. I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil for my hot flashes which were really bad for a number of years. It's helped quite a bit but I'm still getting them at a reduced level of intensity twice a day or so. I'll look into adding this. Before I took the Evening Primrose Oil I had them really bad. It's been 8 years for me. Heard of a study recently where they can last as long as 14 years! Yikes! We women can use all the help we can get. Thanks again. 14 years? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ?? Oh no!!! I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago and got horrible, constant hot flashes, 24/7. My dr put me on estrogen and I'm still on it. (My primary doc). I do go once a year for a mammography but it does worry me to be on it for so long. I get bloodwork every 3 months and my hormones are still out of whack. I might try the sage and get off of the estrogen. Sounds hopeful!

I was ready to come off of my estrogen and switch to sage, but I am on statins (low dose). Good to know!!
My hot flashes without the estrogen are nearly around the clock and they make me nauseous + I have to constantly change clothes. There's a certain distinct stench from that type of hot flash. I wish that there could be a cure that's not as dangerous as estrogen! Even though I barely feel the hot flashes since I've been on the estrogen, I do get a little warm and then FREEZING cold (in FL!). I always carry sweaters with me. It's been 7 years now.
