Speaking of hyalouronic acid. I have been using the Strivectin hyalouronic acid, and I have to say, I love the way it feels when I put it on. First I apply Lancome Genifique serum, then the Strivectin hyalouronic acid, then go make my coffee. By the time it's started, my face feels fresh and ready for moisturizer and I go back and put on Lancome Rénergie Lift Multi-Action cream. I have used the Rénergie (and it's predecessor) for about 10 years, and can't imagine using anything else. That said, before settling on the serum, acid, moisturizer combo I spent about 6 months experimenting and found the moisturizer felt terrible to me with a few other products. My question is about the Strivectin packaging. It's a little dual zone pump and the thing is the most mindblowingly cheap packaging. The seal breaks and the pumps separate from the reservoirs. I am concerned when this happens, because A) doesn't seem like it's good to expose this stuff to air over time, especially given it's purpose! B) I travel alot and now it can't go with me. I've purchased 3 and the first broke after about a month (ok.) The second broke within 2 weeks and I took it back for exchange. The third broke this morning, about 3 weeks in. I intentionally didn't take it with me on two trips to avoid this! And I missed it! I don't want to look like I'm abusing the return process, but this is nutty. Anyway... is there a hyalouronic acid yall would recommend? I'm done with this game. I use rodial products with Hyaluronic acid and I super love them

It was what I wanted to hear and buy into. I thought I was getting a Lexus and got a Carola. There is nothing wrong with a Carola with leather seats and a good radio. Don’t market it to me like a Lexus, though when it is clearly not. I guess it depends what you think makes something a good product. Is it all about the cost or exclusivity of the product? Or is it about the ingredients, how it works for your skin? I think this is an example of price not being the main factor. These products may work for others, but they didn’t work for you so the cost wasn’t an indicator that it would be a good fit. The Ordinary makes products that are inexpensive. One could say that makes them ineffective, cheap, couldn’t be good quality. But many people do love them and see results using them. Again, they aren’t going to work for everyone. But the cost might be more of an indicator of a different business model as opposed to different quality in ingredients or products. I would say that products that cost well over $100 are being targeted at people who think that more expensive=better. And their marketing works for that clientele. Some people think that a Lexus IS better that a Corolla. Other think it is just more expensive. Just some things to think about for future purchases, and hopefully you can find a product that DOES work for you. I don’t know who to believe. A car salesman I know will be giving se some truth and some BS. I thought by getting medical advice I would be just getting the truth. This appears to be fiction.

Consumer Reports just published an article on whether high end skincare products were better than drugstore ones. Their findings were proven there is no difference in efficacy. I wish I had known this when I bought them...

I don’t believe that article, I’ve used both and I can really see the difference I am jaded and don’t believe anyone right now about the effectiveness of “medical grade” (the dermatologist office buzz word) skincare products and I won’t be buying any more. If my $50 Tatcha cream doesn’t bother my skin but my $150 moisturizer does, I am downgrading and going to live just fine without it. I wanted to think it was better. I fell for it. I see it is not the case. Skincare should not hurt.

Consumer Reports just published an article on whether high end skincare products were better than drugstore ones. Their findings were proven there is no difference in efficacy. I wish I had known this when I bought them... I don’t believe that article, I’ve used both and I can really see the difference I think there are good products in both categories. I do tend to fall in the "more expensive is better" line of thinking (to a degree--I do have a limit where I think the price is just inflated due to the name, etc and that the quality probably isn't in proportion to the cost), but then I do research and look into the product rather than the name or the price. Can I find something similar that is less expensive? How much experimenting will I need to do (and spend time and money) to find something I like as much or better? Sometimes I stick with the more expensive product and other times I find something less expensive. For example..I'm looking for a new retinol product. I am having a lot of irritation from Retin-A lately and also had irritation the other day after using a sample of Sunday Riley Luna night oil. I am debating between The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid and possibly the Drunk Elephant (much more expensive). The main reason I am looking into the DE is that it also has some other ingredients that I am looking for. But I also know that part of me is getting sucked into the hype of the brand and this new product. I don't want to make my decision because of that. Ultimately, if something works, use it!

I have been using Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk lipstick and the glossy stick recently...I love it! Perfect color for nude my lips but better! I want to get the eyeshadow palette but I have not tried hers and I am waffling. I also got the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation to try, and I love it. I have used plain old double wear for years and felt like it was so heavy but covered so awesome. The light is really doing the job for me. I am also loving the Stila tone corrector and brightening serum. It makes my makeup slide right on.

So a new month, thought I would check in and share what I am loving. I took busy 's advice and ordered The Ordinary Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, and also some Salicylic Acid. I've been using it consistently and I am loving how my skin feels. I have been having breakouts lately and I can defiantly see improvement with them. Definitely will be ordering more. I ordered some IT Cosmetics Confidence in A Gel Lotion. Love it. Also ordered Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Balm, and while it's ok. It just that - OK. Nothing super wonderful. Wont be repurchasing it again but will use what I have. From Sephora, I tried the Hourglass Vanish Foundation and it is a bust for me. Its going back. It sank into every single pore and highlighted them. No thanks. When in Las Vegas, I needed a Mascara because I left mine at home. I picked up the DiorShow and love it. It was my go to mascara for a long time and somewhere along the way I ditched it. BUT I am back with it now and loving it. So, not a new to me product but one I re-found and am happy with. And finally, I LOVE a good mask. I picked up Youth to the People Hydrate + Glow mask and it is amazing for my dry skin. I only use it 2x a week but I think you could use it every day if you needed to. I love the way my skin feels when I use it. So, what are you loving? Hating? Picked up anything new and want to report how it's going?

I think I mentioned that I bought the Hourglass Veil setting powder a couple weeks ago and liked it. But I didn't love the brush I was using for it, so when I was in Sephora, I asked for a recommendation. And that led to her also trying some of Hourglass's Ambient Lighting powder (Dim Light), blush (Mood Exposure), and bronzer (Luminous Bronze Light) on me and I FELL IN LOVE. I had no makeup on besides mascara and lipstick and she took maybe three minutes to apply those and it looked amazing. Polished and "finished" but not made up. And of course they can be used when wearing foundation or something too. A really really nice effect. I'd always shied away from those powders because I thought they'd be too shiny, but I was wrong - they just make me look alive lol.
So, going in for one thing resulted in me spending $250. WHOOPS.

I used the BH Cosmetics Zodiac Love Signs palette the other day and was happy with it. I'm into pinks and mauves a lot right now.
I am still trying to figure out a way to "challenge" myself to use more of stuff, rather than just buying and collecting stuff because I think it's pretty, but using the same few things all the time.

You can ask for a sample of the foundation before you buy it so you can try it at home. Usually I do this, but my Sephora is small and they don't care the line in store. It was order it online or do without. So I took a chance and ordered online. I liked the color range but the formula is a no-go for my skin.

I have several and like bye bye pores the best. I'm generally not an It Cosmetics fan, their stuff just doesn't work for me, but I really like the Bye Bye Pores pressed powder. I use that most of the time. Otherwise I use Laura Mercier translucent loose powder.

She said to be sure to "press and roll" rather than brush it on. Thanks, I will try to find that one or a similar one. I usually use a big fluffy powder brush for it. I can't tell a difference when I use and it when I don't sometimes, so wasn't sure if a different brush would be good. my3freaks--I rotate between bye bye pores, It CC powder, laura mercier, and Lancome long time no shine. They are all good but I just seem to notice that my texture looks better when I use BBP.

It Cosmetics CC Cream or Tarte Shape Tape concealer — anyone used either of these? I've used both. The CC cream is ok, not my favorite. while it goes on well, I don't find I have enough coverage. I struggle with redness and just feel I need more coverage. The Shape Tape? Thats my go-to concealer.

iamkristinl16 and anyone else- Did you order the Thrive mascara? How is it? I'm looking for a lengthening mascara- not one that is goopy like a volumizing one. Does that make sense?

I wouldn’t describe it as goopy at all. I have had good luck with the application. One coat does a nice job (trying to do two has never turned out well for me... possibly my issue) and I rarely have to go back with an eyelash comb to separate the lashes. It is great for the lengthening effect, but I feel like it gives the illusion of some volume too since it does a better job of separating and defining the individual lashes than the Clinique one I had used for years.

I switched to it last year after reading about it here. I've been through 3 tubes so far and still love it. It adds length but isn't thick or goopy. I love that I can wear it all day and it never smudges or flakes.
