I was at work, where Ali’s site is blocked, so I planned ahead & brought my iPad and ordered without any difficulty. Focused on an album, minikit & stamp set. Already have the sale kelly purkey kit (twice — love pink!) or I’d have added it also.
Not thrilled with the color scheme this year (though I know others love it) enough to pay premium pricing on embellishments. I’m hoping to use my stash of “leftovers” from previous kits and other holiday stuff (no shortage of either). .
But first: to finish my 2017 DD!

Just wanted to let you know that I contacted Studio Calico and asked if they had plans to release any more 6X8 albums. The person said no. So I guess my options are the navy, the cream (not so DD for me, I prefer white), and the SS one with the striped spine. I don't know what to choose. So bummed in Ali's albums this year. Just not my style. I have used them for all but one of my DDs so far. Do any of the other online places that put together kits and the like ever make their own albums? Ugh that's annoying - didn't they just say they were doing new albums later in the year or was that 9x12? ETA there was apparently an announcement about 6x12 and 9x12 albums being restocked later in the year. So I guess 6x8 is done? 2peasrefugees.boards.net/post/2217214/thread

I ordered the kids kit (the koala is so cute!) and had no problem with my order going through. I did wait several hours after the release went live to avoid the crowds though.

FYI: I asked and Felicity Jane is coming out with albums in October with their Christmas collection. That’s albums, plural, but I don’t know how many.
Excited to see them!!

Just wondering how big are the spines on the FJ albums? The floral one in their shop now has a 2.5" spine. I bought their polka dot one a couple weeks ago and it's 2.25". If I remember right, the albums with their Christmas release last year were 2.5". ETA: I think that floral one in the shop still might have been one of the Christmas ones last year?

SC seems to have stopped making lots of things for their brand. This is probably the main other gripe I have with SC.... get people hooked on a decent product, then pull it away

Can anyone tell me what the international shipping fee at FJ is?
TIA

So I ended up buying the red album and the Pink Paislee Mini Kit. I was afraid to wait on Felicity Jane and nothing else even slightly appealed to me. I figure I can mix the PP mini in with stuff I already have and be ok.

Can anyone tell me what the international shipping fee at FJ is? I think the most I've paid for shipping was US$ 24 to Australia for over US$ 100 worth of stuff (that was a pretty full pizza box). It's not the cheapest out there but for the occasional purchase I can justify it.

I am just a big no on Kelly Purkey lately. I don't think I am 'cool' enough for her designs.

Ok. I like KP's sentiments in the Bah Humbug sneaks way better than the colours now that I'm looking at the photos again. Not sure what she was thinking with that borderline neon orange?

My main point is, $10 has a very different value depending on who you are and where you come from. To some people it's nothing, they could literally throw it away and not care one bit. To others it could be their entire scrapbooking budget and they would look at it like gold. To others (who probably aren't buying DD products) it could mean the difference between eating dinner or not. When it comes to money, being able to shrug it off and spend it without worry is a luxury that no one should take for granted. And people posting how much they spent or telling others to shrug off the overcharged amounts is just bragging about it.
Side-note: Internationals who got a double charge will very likely have to pay the fee for the extra order charge for the XX-to-US$ currency conversion (and it can take several days for the money to be returned into your account as other countries have different ways in which their bank systems operate). These little (or big) financial grievances quickly pile up. It's not very compassionate to tell people to just let it go because it's December Daily (regarding some comments on the web). The "suck it up or don't play" attitude is disheartening to witness. Class elitism, thou striketh again. The irony is that some of those show-offs with large, expensive orders can IRL barely afford them (oh sure, they can put them on one of their credit cards). There's always the façade game on social media as well. We shan't remake the world, alas...

I was quite happy with the shopping experience this year and I liked quite a bit of the DD product. I like the a la carte model, versus kits, and I hope she continues to do this. I also liked that the product was broken down into categories so it was easy to find things. Good shopping experience overall.

Someone suggested covering the album. Could you take the grey 6x8 and cover it with a fabric you like or even a couple coats of paint? I thought about this and it's certainly an option. But if I do go that route, I will likely buy a cheaper album. After my stuff comes in from ACOT (bought some pinkfresh and crate paper on pre-order) I'll pull it out and see if the cream or navy will look better from SC.

I've never bought from FJ as I don't typically use illustrated figures in my albums (unless it's like a santa or an elf or something, you know). Also when the stuff in their shopping site is organized by girl names, I have no idea what's what. Does that make sense? It's like organizing your books by color. It may look cool but it sure as heck doesn't help you find the book you need.
Edit: The FJ album is in the shop under Joy. Just got lucky on that one as that name does seem to fit the season. They still have them for sale for $24.97. Not my style at all but it will give you an idea of what they might release this year.

I believe they try to keep it chronological when browsing. Last year's December kit was Joy.

Last year's December kit was Joy. Since everyone likes it so much, I've been browsing each category. They have some nice things and it's not just all illustrations of girls. Very clean style. I put a few things in my cart already! I think if you keep up with it, it won't be so overwhelming. I started following them on Instagram so I'll see if they release anything new. Thanks for the enabling, peas!

I don’t like the dolls ether, but mostly I hate that she doesn’t label the kits with the month in the store. Holly I can figure out, but Henley, Alexis, Daisy, Denise or what have you makes no sense to me. It is fine that she names the kits with girl names, but it would be helpful if she added the month. The dolls are a super waste of a die cut though.
I know others have mentioned it, but I wish she would do a kit called Felix Jack or something with similar designs but instead of pink focus on blues and greens, more stereo typical masculine colors.
On topic, I have the floral album from last year and the quality is fantastic and it is nice and wide in the spine.

This drives me bonkers too. I know there have been a few instances where I knew I liked a kit but had no idea to find it without clicking around on 500 things trying to find it.

Yes....die cut dolls go straight into my kindy giveaway box! I don’t like them either. But....I do like that every B side is black and white and all the journal cards are either simple grid or spot on the back Even though I rarely use pink ,I can always use the B+W on the B side
