Why did the woman (who looks like the woman who was behind Kavanaugh during the hearings) take his place? He seems to be making faces at/with what dt is saying. He is not clapping so one thinks for those reasons they removed him. Also showing NO energy.

Someone is going to be upset when he reads this A government photographer edited official pictures of Donald Trump’s inauguration to make the crowd appear bigger following a personal intervention from the president, according to newly released documents.
The photographer cropped out empty space “where the crowd ended” for a new set of pictures requested by Trump on the first morning of his presidency, after he was angered by images showing his audience was smaller than Barack Obama’s in 2009.
The detail was revealed in investigative reports released to the Guardian under the Freedom of Information Act by the inspector general of the US interior department. They shed new light on the first self-inflicted crisis of Trump’s presidency, when his White House falsely claimed he had attracted the biggest ever inauguration audience.

Uh-oh....
Bill Shine is now on trumpster's (s)hit list!
"Trump is also fuming that White House deputy chief of staff for communications Bill Shine has mishandled the messaging on the Woodward book. The President believes the rapid response to the book has been handled poorly and he blames Shine for that.
Trump is telling allies, "We should get Hope back here," referring to former White House communications director Hope Hicks."

Interesting :- The Mueller court documents said Mr Papadopoulos caused irreparable damage to the Russia investigation because he lied repeatedly to agents during a January 2017 interview. Those lies, prosecutors said, resulted in the FBI missing an opportunity to properly question Prof Mifsud. LINKand now the professor seems to have disappeared The Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Friday raised the prospect that the London-based professor who told former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos that Russia had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton may be dead.
DNC lawyers wrote in court filings Friday that Joseph Mifsud, who spoke to Papadopoulos during the 2016 presidential election, "is missing and may be deceased," Bloomberg News reported. The lawyers did not elaborate.
The DNC stood by its claim in a statement to The Hill on Friday. The committee indicated that an investigator had been used to find Mifsud, who had disappeared for months, and was told the Maltese professor may be dead.
“The DNC's counsel has attempted to serve Mifsud for months and has been unable to locate or contact him. In addition, public reports have said he has disappeared and hasn't been seen for months," DNC spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said. LINK

If Republicans have no objections with The Federalist Society influencing the make-up of our Supreme Court, then there shouldn’t be any objection to a former president offering guidance and support to his party for the midterms and 2020.

Maybe I have lived under a rock during other presidencies, but have we ever had a president who constantly bragged on himself about the biggest ________ in history, the best ___________ in history, etc? I don't remember if it happened. Out of all the things that bug me about him, this constant need of his to always proclaim the biggest/best/hugest/most popular EVER etc makes me crazy!
And why oh WHY do people believe him??? I know people who spew out what he spews. They say things like, "He is the most popular president I ever remember in my lifetime!" Said by someone in my family in her 70s. Really? This same person says that Melania is the best and classiest First Lady we have had since Jackie Kennedy. Again, REALLY??? What exactly is so great about Melania? What has she done as First Lady? Am I missing something important?

I think part of all this bragging about “greatness” is to pander to the people that believe that America is the “greatest and best country ever”. That we are the pinnacle of all things from medicine and schools to economics and military. The other part of it is that Trump just loves to brag and be praised. Even if what he is bragging about is a complete fabrication.

At one of trump”s “make my ego feel good” rallies trump took on the two Democratic candidates running for governor in CA and FL. Even though he was there “campaigning” for some guy running for the senate.
IMO this is why. From Jerry Brown
“Governor Brown Signs Bills to Block Trump Administration’s Offshore Oil Drilling Expansion”
“Also Announces Opposition to Federal Government’s Scheme to Reopen Drilling on Public Lands”
Both men running, if they win, will be a real thorn in trump’s side.
The future is not “ drill baby drill”. The future is the Salesgorce tower in SF. It is the tallest building west of the Mississippi and it has been verified that the energy they use is 100% clean renewable energy.
trump is living in the past that no longer exists in spite of his best effort to drag this country there.
On a personal note, I think the building is ugly but kudos for embracing the future.

There’s one small piece of good news. After stalling for months, Senate Judiciary Committee voted on one legislation to protect the Mueller investigation. Trump can still fire Mueller via Rosenstein (although R already said he’s not doing it), but Mueller can challenge it in court which has the power to reinstate him. The DOJ would also be obligated to preserve all documents produced by Mueller. Hypothetically, if Trump fires Sessions and installs an Atty Gen who could do the firing, it still won’t matter because Mueller can still challenge for cause. It’s not the full protection I was hoping for, but it’s something. So it’s out of committee; I just don’t know when full senate voting will occur.

If someone is bragging to be the biggest, bestest, smartest etc my initial impression is just the opposite. But until he is exposed having no clothes, as they say, much of his base believes him. or at least goes along with him for the results. on another note... I don't get such a change of opinion just because of a win. trump is still the same horrible person they were rightly criticizing before the election. Probably worse as he doesn't react well to anyone disagreeing let along criticizing and as POTUS that is par for the course. I guess morals and decency no longer matters with one in the win column. I get it. Not.

They also don't see the lies, as what Trump says reflects their own values, and so reinforces their own beliefs.

“Apple prices may increase because of the massive Tariffs we may be imposing on China - but there is an easy solution where there would be ZERO tax, and indeed a tax incentive. Make your products in the United States instead of China. Start building new plants now. Exciting! #MAGA”
Think about it for a second. If Apple or any company that has manufacturing outside this country, were to build plants in the US. How many of us could them afford the latest iPhone or whatever that company sells?

I totally agree! It is quite puzzling! i think it has to do with the fear that he instills within his base--that the immigrants are taking away all the American (read WHITE) jobs, that "law and order" needs to prevail (read that police can beat the crap out of whomever they want), threats to shut down the government, threats and legislation to take away healthcare, taxes for the rich (which is bull crap that it helped any ordinary person and added $1.5 trillion to the national debt). I think that he has been successful at one thing and one thing only---which is to create such chaos and divide within the American spirit, pitting people against one another, playing on those fears to keep that cycle going, lying all the time so no one knows what is what, attacking any and all media as the enemy, putting fear and uncertainty into people's beliefs. I think that many of his base want to win, and are knowingly following him and his destructive ways because they see him prevailing by just steamrolling and bullying everyone in his way. He is like a hurricane, wrapped in a tsunami, fueled by wildfires out of control. Any the GOP is going along merrily, creating legislation--while trumpster is out there causing distractions and bullshit on a daily basis--that is eroding hard fought for rights and rulings to groups of people who the GOP, conservative, sanctimonious hyper-hypocritical Christians are out to eradicate, LBGTQ, the poor, the elderly, the handicapped, the veterans (he has done NOTHING for them except cause chaos). They only want the "pretty people" the rich, the ones who will destruct and promise loyalty (and get nothing in return) to a movement that is not good for America. I feel that we are losing ground as a superpower, until he is replaced in 2020. He and the GOP have put America in dangerous situations with trade, war, and technology.

What trump excels at is selling his “brand”. He did it as a successful businessman but when you look behind the brand you see he is anything but successful when it comes to business.
Now he is selling his brand of being a successful president, especially compared to President Obama. But again, if you look behind the brand you see that he has not been successful when it comes to things he has done on his own.
Here is an example. trump retweeted this from an Eric Bolling...
“Watching @barackobama take credit for @realdonaldtrump successes is disgraceful.
Score So Far-
TRUMP: -Unemployment Rate -GDP -Wage Growth -# Blacks Employed -# Hispanics Employed -# Women Employed -ISIS Wins -Homegrown Terror Events
OBAMA: -Slick Speaking -School Shootings”
Look at trump’s “accomplishments”. Each and every one of them was a continuation of what was started under President Obama.
Now maybe in his second year of office he was faced with a 10%+ unemployment rate and handed off to the next guy a 4% unemployment rate he would have something to brag about.

I can say I am all that and more 'till the cows come home. Still doesn't make it so. There's a reason a story written in the 1800s, The Emperor’s New Clothes, is still widely known and quoted today. I guess they didn't get the memo.
