This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Great joyfulnana, we would love to have you join. This is a no pressure, have fun challenge. Tell us a little about yourself. I am married 50 years and have 4 children and have 16 grandchildren. I worked as a teacher until I had 2 children, then stayed home for a few years and went to work as a Medical Office Manager to a General Practitioner. I live in Utah.

I'm a mom to two boys 35 and 28 and one 3 yo GS. He'll be 4 in 3 weeks! I can't believe how fast the time goes! I moved from Indiana back home to Missouri right after my GS was born. He's my first, and possibly my only and there was no way I could live so far away! Being his Nana is just the best! I work from home doing technical support in the RV industry. I was fortunate that my employer was open to me remoting in. Some days my brain is just fried during travel season and for a long time I let that keep me from scrapping. Lately (since joining the challenges here) I make time at least twice a week to work on something. I'm a super slow scrapper. I take a lot of time, probably too much (!) choosing paper and making design decisions, but that process is my favorite part of scrapping. I can't imagine 16 grandchildren, that would be amazing! My mom now has 21 great-grands, and about 14 grands I think. I'm looking forward to chatting with the pokey peas

Welcome to the Pokeys, joyfulnana! This spot is a warm, welcoming spot where we take the time to actually get to know each other. Thanks for setting it up again, nylene. I am a wife (for 50 years), mom (of 4 adult "kids"), and gramma (to 11 energetic grandkids). We live on a farm in north eastern Alberta, Canada. I am retired from paid employment, and spend a lot of my free time scrapbooking. Other activities include growing a big vegetable garden and going to visit the kids and grandkids.

Hi joyfulnana, the Pokeys are such sweet and supportive ladies. I'm so glad to be able to get to know them better from these threads. I live in CT with my DH and 3 DDs, 20yo twins (one in college and one with health issues at home with me) and a 15yo. They make me crazy, so I come here to escape for a little while when I can. Welcome!

So fun getting to know everyone!
i am the oldest of 7 children and we are a close family. I will be married 32 years this month and we have two daughters, one just got married and the other has been married almost 8 years and is expecting her third child this month - another boy! So, I have 3 grandsons, 5 years, 4 years and one coming this month! I love being a grandma and spend a lot of time (3-4 times a week) with my grandsons. They are such a joy and live less than 10 minutes away from us. I work for a non-profit and have been there for 18 years this month and my husband has worked for Disney for 22 years.
I’ve been scrapbooking since 1998 and love it!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm looking forward to hanging out here! justlisa7, I see my my DGS a few times a week too. I love it. Both my boys said from a pretty early age they didn't want to have kids, so I was over the moon to find out I was going to be a grandma. Moved 700 miles to make sure I could be involved in his life and have no regrets about that! Both of my sons live in Missouri and I was already planning a move, but the little one put those plans on fast forward lol.

Welcome justlisa7, it will be so fun to have you and joyfulnana on this thread. Nice to see you too, woodysbetty, we have missed seeing you. I can see that those of us who have grandchildren are totally in love with being a grandma. To me, it's the reward for getting older. We have a granddaughter being married this month. They are growing up too fast. We will have 3 married and the youngest three are 4,5, and 8. The rest are all in the double digits. I miss babies!! I hope to be a better hostess this month. It can't be a crazier month than August was. Waving to all the Pokeys!

kellyr21, I just checked out your blog and love what you have been doing. I typed up a long post on your album card and hit Preview and it disappeared. I'm sure you have to approve them before they show up, but I didn't get to hit publish so I don't think it will appear. I was smarter on your cardboard art and hit publish. I hope it shows up. I'll check back and rewrite if the card comments don't show up. You have done some beautiful work, my friend.

Happy September Pokeys! And welcome to justlisa7 and joyfulnana! Glad you came to join us. I'm Lisa. I'm married with 2 kids (16yo son, 13 yo daughter). DD is homeschooled with some health issues we're working on (she's currently working beside me). I homeschooled ds until high school, he now goes to a private online high school (his choice). We've lived in 5 states as a family. We have a house (homestead) in northwestern Michigan that we've been working on rehabbing. Looks like we might move to civilization again soon though. Thanks for the thread, nylene. It's so nice that Maggie keeps in touch with you. Please extend our Pokey love to her and her family. kellyr21, I'm glad your pillow covers worked. What type of wall heater is it? Is it the old radiator style? We had one that we put a wooden cover to make it a shelf in the summer in our apartment in Chicago. If it's a wall heater that is the thinner type, could you make or have a handy wood worker make a small box that could be taken off the wall when it's in use, but attached to hide it when not. woodysbetty, how is the purging and downsizing going? When is the move? Waving hi to everyone!

I wish my dgk's were closer, like yours, justlisa7 and joyfulnana. I really enjoyed our week with all of them in Florida. I am grateful that I am able to travel to visit them, though. This afternoon I am driving to Edmonton to catch a flight to spend a week grandparenting a five year old while his mom is starting her PhD program. Hoping it will help with his separation anxiety that I am there. Since dgs will be in school for a few hours each day, I hope to do a little scrapping while I am there. Have packed a few scrapbooking supplies, and hope to print some Florida photos while in Edmonton later. Since most of my stash must stay at home, I may have to finish pages once I am back here, but at least I can get some pages started, and maybe fit in a challenge or two (or at least leave sticky notes for how I can earn some points!) And I already have a flight booked to stay a weekend with the girls in BC in November while their parents are away. Hoping to fit in a drive to Calgary to spend with the other two families sometime in between those two flights. Hopefully late September or at latest mid October. Hopefully that will be before the snow flies, but in this country you never know. I spent October 1st down there last year and had to delay my drive home b/c of a snow storm. Okay, I need to shut my computer down now. Will check in from my iPad later.

grammadee , that's too bad that you don't live close to them. But it sounds like you find ways to spend quality time with them all! After the heat here this summer, snow flying sounds like bliss to me lol. ETA: nylene, I was sorting through some pictures for my next layout and remembered you said you live in Utah. I lived in the Salt Lake Valley for 5 years. To this day I still miss the mountains and it's been 22 years since I've lived there! It didn't even click when I read your post until I saw those photos lol.

LisaDV the downsizing continues...we sold the boat ( so hard!!) and are taking a trip to the Villages in 2 weeks to explore and look at neighborhoods and house styles...after that, we plan to finish a couple of house projects and then put the house up for sale. So our move is dependant on the house selling which we expect to be pretty quick as houses sell fast here. I figure we will moving sometime next spring or early summer...the hardest part is this sense of limbo...not really here not really there...yuck! kellyr21 glad the pillows covers worked!! @grammadeemy DGK's are far too...grateful for skype!! A big welcome to joyfulnana and justlisa7, the pokeys are a fun group!!

Happy Tuesday! How is your week going, nylene? Have your dh’s treatments started yet? Taking the steps for downsizing and moving must be hard, woodysbetty. So sad you had to sell the boat. That boat seems to have been a big part of your retired lifestyle. (((HUGS)))). I know we will have to move into town eventually, but I am not ready for that yet. When will you know if YOU have to move, LisaDV? I did some scrapping today after dgs left on the bus. Have been parked in the recliner since lunch storing up energy for when he gets home. Hoping the first day of school went well. He will be sad that neither mom or dad is here tonight, but I hope we can both stay calm. I didn’t want to plan any outings for today b/c I have no idea how anxious he will be. Downtown they are getting ready for a scarecrow festival, so we might check out the displays later in the week. Thinking we might attempt to make a scarecrow out of some of the little guy’s discarded clothes. We will see... Have a good week, Pokeys. Waving hello to you all.

grammadee funny part is that as sad as we are about the boat it was clearly time...we have been playing more with the jetski and really just taking day cruises with a boat that designed for longer trips...most of our boating community has shifted, so its time. My DH is ready to live in a place where we can be active and simply play...so we want to dust off our golf clubs, and get ready to put on our dancing shoes and have new adventures...he embraces change so easily, I am timider even though I completely agree...but I am sure whenever and where ever we land will be great...the getting ready part is just challenging!!!

grammadee, you are so sweet to help your little guy with his separation anxiety. I hope you two will have a great night and lots of fun the rest of the time you are tending. Steve has started his Radiation and it keeps me running. I am now taking him to work each morning at 6 and picking him up about 11. We often have to run errands for an hour. We have lunch and then we are off to the radiation. It isn't far away, but it seems like it's at least an hour twice a week. He seems to be slowly adjusting to not driving anymore, but it's like riding with the Driver's License Examiner! I feel like he watches every move I make. LOL Poor guy. I don't enjoy driving in traffic. woodysbetty, I don't envy you the challenge of downsizing and moving. I hope our kids will have to do all that when we are gone. I'm sure it was hard to sell the boat. My son is debating that. His kids are grown and all but gone and it just doesn't get used. Big decisions. Nice to see your layouts. Post here too for another point. LisaDV, has your DH taken the Michigan job? or is it still up in the air? So many big decisions. I hope things go well for you as you decide what you will be doing. How's the driving with DS? joyfulnana, I know what you mean about loving Utah mtns. When my DSIL moved here from Michigan he just couldn't find addresses, because he never knew North, S, E and West. We told him to look for the mountains, that's always East. He called one day and was lost. He said there are mountains on ALL sides. We had to clarify that the BIG mountain (Timpanogos) is always East. We used to have a beautiful view of Timp out the kitchen window, but a home went in and now we have to go outside to enjoy it. We are at the mouth of Provo Canyon, so can be in the mtns in 10 minutes. justlisa7 and msliz, you can post your challenge pages here too for an extra point. I am enjoying your pages. kellyr21, I hope things are well at your house. How's the painting going? @waving to justjac and @elaynef and all the Pokeys. Have a great week.

Welcome patin ! grammadee , making a scarecrow sounds like fun! I'm sure he'd enjoy that. How did yesterday evening go? I hope not too much anxiety. woodysbetty , I empathize with the frustrations of packing and moving. We've done it several times, all but 2 had a moving company involved, but I like to pack certain things myself. I am sorry about your boat though. But if you weren't using it, then it was time. Dancing, golf and yoga, sounds like an exciting and fun plan. nylene , poor Steve! Is this the second week of radiation? How long will he have to go? Don hasn't accepted yet, we just got the official offer yesterday morning, but it didn't have the relocation or benefits package information attached. So he got that late yesterday afternoon. I will look it over later today and crunch. Since we aren't selling a house and really don't need movers, he'll probably be going back with a counter for the relo to be $$ instead. Plus they said the hiring bonus was 10%, but wasn't at 10%. He's still very excited. MI company is one of the top 4 midwest manufacturer's that DH has always wanted to work for. He interviewed about 10 years ago with them, but he wanted the top position and the top guy was a bit too nervous about that. Now he's being offered it. It's a Director position so it's great for dh's ego. My ds is having a very hard time with the imminent move. It's breaking my heart. But dd although she hates the idea of moving, is excited to be close to things as quicker trips like 5 - 15 minutes she seems to just get a bit of motion sickness, but isn't sick for a week or more from them. So I'm excited about that. Me: I love (love) the idea of having a house that's put together and nice, but I really (really) dislike the idea of moving. I hate the idea of not having farm fresh eggs. Don's ready to start the whole cleaning up, clearing out process. Instead of slaughtering the chickens ourselves, he wants me to call a lady that does it for $$ and have them done this month if possible. I was like, we aren't even sure when we'll find a house or move, and he's like one less thing to worry about here. He's quickly getting to the point that he'll be in his own little world soon and won't hear anything I say, so I have to pick my battles carefully for a while. I love the man, but.... DS goes for his license tomorrow. Today I will make sure I have all of the documents ready to go. We're all going along if the weather is nice and then going hiking afterwards. I'll pack a picnic for dinner out. Then if the weather is nice on Friday, I'll probably take ds out driving. We've been getting a lot of rain, but the corn is enjoying it and should be ready soon. OK sorry about all that writing. Waving hi to everyone I didn't tag. I hope all of the pokey's have a great week.

Hoping it stays that way for a while. I remember moving from upstate NY to Florida and it's a lot of work. We just became emptynesters with our youngest daughter getting married. Thanks for clarifying, grammadee . I thought of that afterward, but didn't get back to the boards. Count the extra Pokey Peas point for each 4 you do. We'd love to see them posted here, too, for those not in the Challenge. patin , welcome, welcome. It has been great getting to know you a bit on the other boards. Tell us a little about yourself. Glad to have new members aboard. justlisa7 , That wedding page is gorgeous. I love the little white vintage buttons. Beautiful, charming work. I went in to have a post-op on my eye today and found that I have a small hemorrhage. I have had trouble with a film-like something coming down into the line of sight and that's why I went in originally. They have decided that it's the blood in the eye that is restricting the vision but don't know why it's there. So...one more appt this time with DH's retina doctor. It seems all we do is sit in medical offices lately. I'm just grateful that they think it will clear up in about 8 weeks. One of us HAS to be able to SEE. The radiation is going well. He's had 4 treatments and the spot is angry red and scabbed over. He has another 13 or so treatments and then re-evaluate. He's tolerating it OK with just a bit of headache. I'm off to scrap and hope to have a couple of hours tomorrow too.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Some of my favorite scrapbookers are on this board! My DH & I moved to "the country" 13 years ago & love it! We have 3 kids & our 13 grands range in age from almost 3 to almost 26. I love Jesus, DH, our family, my many friends, the Denver Broncos, travel, camping, cooking, wine, coffee, dog, scrapbooking, card making. I spent most of my career as a bookkeeper, then owned meal prep business & finished by working at a home for girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking. I retired a little over a year ago. I started stamping about 25 years ago. Dabbled a little bit in scrapbooking about 20 years ago - think fancy scissors, & Mrs. Grossman sticker sneeze. While my kids were little I mostly did cards. About 10 years ago one of my clients was a CM rep. She let me come over to her home every Thursday afternoon for a year & she helped me organize my laundry baskets full of unsorted pictures. She stopped my organizing about 20 weeks in & encouraged me to do a mini album. I was so overwhelmed- but made an ABC album for DH with 26 things I love about him. I was hooked! I've been a Pea for about 4 years(?) But was pretty quiet at 1st- one of my first posts on the old NSBR board hurt my feelings, so it took me awhile to put myself out there again. The Refupeas are so much nicer! My scrapbooks are chronological, although I scrap all over the place- just keep them in Iris boxes till they are done. Of course I would like to think I'll be caught up sometime, but I am a true Pokey Pea so that may not happen. Thanks again. Looking forward to spending time with you all.

joyfulnana justlisa7 patin Welcome! So glad you like us and looking forward to getting to know you better.
woodysbetty- things are moving fast with your move. Hope it all goes well for you.
nylene- continued best wishes to you and dh for your health. Keeping y'all in my prayers.
grammadee- totally not surprised with all your travel plans for visiting your family... that is great...would love to have your energy. Had a good visit with my #1 dd last weekend. lisadv- hoping your move is as painless as possible. Looking forward to hearing about it all. Hope your son got his license and your kids do well during all the turmoil. kellyr21 looking forward to seeing some more of your paintings...love, love, love them. Your redecorating is gorgeous. You are doing great...I know what hard work it is.
misliz is it getting close to fall there in CT? Would love to live somewhere where there is an earlier fall...we are having rain this week, here so that's great, too.
justjac Busy time for you....all our best to you! I have been wanting to participate in some of the challenges but have been unsuccessful. I just finsihed my dgd wedding album that is for ME this morning and it was not able to use the challenges because it was predesigned. It was fun to work with though and I enjoyed adding my own touches. It's always fun to mix things up a little and do different kinds of projects.
This is the last page and I was able to use one of the sketches for it. The photographer took a pic of me horning in on her job! The couple on the beach are dd#1 and her dh...others are grands and the other grandmother.
I'll go back to the cousins books now and finish them and I should be able to do more challenges.
We made a lot of progress on redecorating last week. Everything was in place except curtains and a lamp and another rug.
I'm showing you this pic because if you look into the next room, you can see me sitting at my scrapbook desk. But today it looks like this: Sad, right? We have began the work to repair the structural mistake the builder made 40 years ago. They are supposed to start tearing out the sheetrock and paneling today. The estimate was even more than we thought it was going to be. Kind of a bummer, but I am trying to be grateful and keep a good attitude.
