Would it be possible for your dad to go to a different and more major hospital? He needs to be taken seriously and waiting until November for cancer surgery is terrible care. Busy or not your dad needs doctors who can help him, not harm him further. Can you get recommendations from your hospital? Maybe someone knows someone who can help? I know that you're in PT, but you must each luch w/others on staff. I pray that your dad gets the care he needs quickly. I'm sorry that you have to go through this stress.

I forgot to add that if he had the cystoscopy in office + an MRI (where did he get that done? Is a radiologist connected to the office of the urologist??), then the urologist is most likely sure that it hasn't spread. THAT'S GOOD NEWS! Honestly, at first, this waiting business freaked me out! I wanted an appointment for DH's surgeries ASAP. I understand what you're going through and feel so badly for you. As others said, work on getting the consent form first (or try talking to the urologist---sometimes when they know that you work in the medical field, they might just agree to share his info if he could confirm whom you are--it's worth a shot!). Once you speak to his urologist, I'd ask why they're waiting (hospitals backed up? Medicare waiting for something?). Maybe you'll get a clearer picture and will get a feel for what's going on. That being said, my entire NY family (& CA family) wants DH and I to IMMEDIATELY move back up to NY to get our surgeries up there. I'm committed with finishing my eye surgery at USF but I'd move right after that to have DH's bladder removal surgery up there! Let me know if you have any more questions & I'll try to answer them. For now, this all sounds normal and slow-growing. They probably didn't get to the entire tumor and they want to 'scoop' him at the hospital. Blood in the urine is normal if he has bladder cancer. It sucks. DH's blood this time was so thick that they couldn't even do a follow-up urine culture. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) It's part of the whole process. Good luck. We'll be in touch. (BTW, I hate that this is a 'holiday' weekend, and we can't be working on this stuff!!! I have to wait until Tuesday to try a few more times to get DH into Moffitt Cancer Center vs. a Urologist that I don't even know is qualified to do a bladder/prostate removal surgery, 6 hours!! I understand your stress........... Hang in there! Hugs!

I'd try checking other MD's/hospitals and their schedule. Schedules/timelines seem to differ with different hospitals.
I have an abdominal surgery scheduled in a city hospital, I was able to get an appt with the surgeon for consult within a couple weeks, then we scheduled within a reasonable time. My gyn then wanted me to do a hysterectomy, but isn't at the same hospital. Couldn't get in within a reasonable time with a city gyn (since she doesn't practice at same hospital.) Both she/gyn and the surgeon's office have tried to get it worked out and it would delay my surgery at least 2+ months.
So I thought maybe easier to switch things and go to the local hospital gyn's at so I tried to get an appt with the other specialty and was told it would be months, if I wanted a sooner appt i'd have an easier time with a city hospital.
My point, check around another hospital/MD may be able to move this along quicker. Also not sure if all the retesting would need to be done, I've been able to move along and switch MD's and they've taken the results of the testing already done. Good luck, hopefully you can get some answers and get this moving along.

I'm going to suggest he go to the U of M. When dealing with cancer, a normal hospital is not good enough. He needs to go to a major medical center for the best care. This is not just my opinion. Studies have proven this to be true. linkI agree with you, get his agreement to let you have access to his records. You should be able to sit down with him and get his online chart set up and he can give you his password for that. My late FIL had bladder cancer for many years. It was basically a chronic illness for him. I hope your dad has a similar, if not better, outcome.

Also the next place we would look would by Mayo over the U. urology at Mayo is highly rated. I'm working on getting assess to all the info. Hope to get that done this wk.
