My challenges will all involve a POP! Today’s day 2 challenge is to make a card that features a critter or character or other element (even a sentiment, perhaps?) popping out from behind something - like my snowman popping out from the corner of his frame. This is not intended to be a literal/physical pop-up card (not yet - maybe later in the month when we’re warmed up, wink wink!) but a more visual/virtual popping/peeking out. Of course, you should feel free to interpret this however you like - I would love to see all the ways people have to make something pop snowman popping out by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Got my images stamped and coloured. Did some diecutting. I added some Nuvo drops so now I have to wait for all the pieces to dry before I can do anything else.

And here it is: pop out Santa by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I coloured and fussy cut the CTMH stamp. Ran the fireplace through the vagabond with an embossing foam to raise up the "bricks" then highlighted them with TH oxide ink (fired brick) before taking the cs out of the die.

oh my goodness, grammadee that's awesome! I love the doily rug and patterned paper decor. And Santa popping out of a chimney is genius I don't think I actually have any Santa stamps, but I might need to make my own Santa popping card if I can find a good Santa... (ooh, just remembered some digital Santas that might work)

I will be trying it, honestly, once I'm up on my own examples, ahem I did think you were doing a pop-up proper, which I have not yet mastered, so I'm relieved it looks easy!

What a great idea with the doily rug, it's brilliant!

mine I used stamps and matching dies from Simon Says Stamp and Mama Elephant, and colored them with copic markers. Patterned paper and solid red paper from Stampin Up. Window dies, stitched rectangle die, and banner die from My Favorite Things. Versamark ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder for the sentiment. eta: I forgot -I also added stickles (remember those??) to the tree and star. And nuvo shimmer pen on the white parts of the santa hat.

Left you some love in the Gallery, gale w. That card is stinkin' cute! I couldn't get the snowman out of my head, so stamped a couple with the same stamp set as my Santa on the other card, and decided to show him popping out from behind a snowstorm. waving snowman by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

I love all these cards! It's been a busy day, just got home and now to whip up a card for this challenge. Hopefully my idea works. I have a card that I made previously, but prefer to make a fresh one for the challenge.

Here is my card for the POP! challenge. LOL! It came out exactly like I planned, which almost never happens! It's a TH/Sizzix "Monsters" set from Michael's. It comes with 5 stamps, dies and an embossing folder of a wooden wall. I embossed the "wood" from brown cardstock, cut the planks apart, and inked them up with Copics, then cut some "broken" ones. I tucked the Franken-head guy behind and embossed the spooky looking sentiment. Attachments:

Oh wow, gale w your popping Xmas kitties are adorable! I love them. I wonder if I have some critters and a tree stamp...? grammadee what a clever idea to represent the snowstorm that way. It looks like you got a little inky with it. Creepy cool Halloween card GiantsFan - and congrats for it coming out as planned! JaneB the real pop up challenge is a couple of weeks away - I thought it might be better to ease into things

I need some new kids' birthday card designs so when I saw joblackford's challenge I thought this would be a good time to pull out a never-before used stamp and die and get to work on a card that has something popping - in this case, balloons popping out of a box. CARDtober Challenge #2 by Pat Doyle, on Flickr I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder, Honey Bee Celebration Box stamp and dies and a Sugar Pea Designs word die.

freeatlast I love the double meaning of popping on your card - something that pops, balloons, popping out of the box. Bonus gold star for that! And it's a beautiful card too.

Thanks, grammadee. Coloring is not my favorite thing, but I took a Copics class a few years ago at the LSS, and it helped my coloring skills a bit. The hint of pink to her cheeks was the hardest part. I had to soften it with the colorless blender.

Just barely popping out...
The ghost pops a bit more than the others. I was mainly just playing with dingbat fonts again, they're fun!
gale w I love your cute Christmas characters I remember Stickles though I've never used them. Your colouring is marvellous too! grammadee ** waves back to the snowman - he's lovely. I had a hard time getting past Winter and Christmas too because I saw all the lovely examples first. GiantsFan I think your monster card is fantastic! So much attention to detail, and it looks fabulous freeatlast your birthday card is lovely, so bright and cheerful. I might pinch the design for trying on the Cameo I like it so much!
scrapnnana that's an adorable card and your colouring is superb too! I at first thought it was printed until I saw the other comments

Cute card, warrior1991! That little guy popping out from behind the tree is perfect. I love paperpiecing from electronic diecuts when they are finished. I seldom have the patience to do them.
