Definitely. I did it enough as a kid and figure most people also do it and I never hear about anything serious happening, though I'm sure it can. It's just too good not to.
When I was in 8th grade and my mother wasn't home, I made just a cake mix so I could eat the batter. I DID get sick, but just because I ate SO much of it. Luckily (or unluckily, as the case may be) it didn't turn me off from eating it in the future.

I am a break 2 or 3 three squares of Nestle Toll House morsel chocolate chip cookie dough off the pre-packaged dough cube grid, and place on the baking sheet and put in the toaster oven.....so there is no actual mixture. LOL!! But, if there were an actual mixture.....I would like the spoon, as well as eat a finger full (or two) of raw cookie dough.

Another Oprah here, it really depends on what is on the beaters/spatula. Anything with raw eggs, no way José for me but my kid will not hesitate to eat raw cookie dough or cake batter. Frosting of any kind, homemade marshmallows, chocolate or any of its derivatives (provided there is no raw egg in it)? Then yes, I’m definitely down with that. In fact, I just made a batch of royal icing the other day with marshmallow flavoring in it and I had to taste it to make sure I had enough flavoring mixed in. OMG. It was so good I could eat it with a spoon!

My husband bought me some packages of 'safe' cookie dough to snack on. I've made cookies 3x while those silly packages sit in the fridge. I think the risk must make it taste better.

I did as a child. I don't bake much except at holidays, but when I do I have a little 4-legged child waiting under my feet for the bowl.

There were 3 of us growing up. When she finished baking, my mom would give the spoon & bowl to my brother (the oldest), one beater to me and one beater to my sister - seemed fair to us (although I am sure my brother got more - haha). I still lick the spoon (but not the beaters) as a grown up since there are no kids currently in the house. I've never known a single person to get sick from it

As soon as I saw that raw egg go into that breakfast beverage that Rocky made in the first movie, I decided that batter of all kinds was fair game. I love it.
Ds recently asked to make brownies, as he was putting it in the oven he asked dh if we had any grapes. I came flying into the kitchen to hug him up as I knew what he wanted grapes for...dipping in the leftover batter. My favorite treat. Oh, and since I only bake when the boy is at school, and I would never share that glorious treat, he had no idea that I did that. Genetics is my guess.
