We bought a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek last November, our first Subaru. I absolutely love it! Drives great, has great reliability ratings, and is so cute! Drives great in snow and rain. This will be my next car.

I have a 2018 forester XT and I love it. I cannot think of any cons but again, I am partial to subarus and Hondas 🤣.
I don’t ever use the heated steeing wheel because I live in Arizona, but anywhere else , I am sure it is a big plus. Mileage is hood and low maintenance

I have a 2003 ForesterI love it great in rain and snow. We are now going to replace DH.s Mazda 5. Although the car is newer and it has more problems with the body.

I live where salt is used on the roads for months in the winter. My 2011 Subaru Outback with over 110,000 miles is the first car I've owned that I felt I had to get the undercarriage cleaned and coated regularly. While many, many people drive them here because of their usefulness on our snowy and often dirt roads, they are known to get rusty undercarriages more easily than other cars. This car is also the first car that I will be trading in before it's 12+ years old. It left us stranded on the side of the road this spring and I just don't feel it has the longevity my Honda had.
We also own a WRX STI that my husband will drive until it won't pass inspection anymore. He loves Subarus, having owned many of them over the years. While older it's got about the same number of miles as the Outback but it's not going to last much longer.
According to my mechanic, they don't make them all that easy to fix. I get the impression that certain things are a pain to get to compared to those same things on Hondas or Toyotas.

I drive a Crosstrek. I love it! I drove a Ford Explorer for about 15 years (loved that car too) and a Mustang for about 2 years (fun as hell to drive). But I got my motorcycle license & purchased my first bike. After riding for a while I decide that the bike was way more fun than the Mustang & purchased my Crosstrek. I can't say enough good things about the Crosstrek. I don't think I'll ever drive anything other than Subaru from now on. I can't think of any cons. My daughter also drives a Crosstrek & she's a Subaru lifer as well.

My parents have owned nothing but Subarus for over 10 years. They currently have a 2018 Crosstrek Limited and a 2018 Outback (I don't know the exactly model, but it's the highest one, because Dad wanted a heated steering wheel). After driving my mom's Crosstrek, I knew I wanted one, and got the same thing in April (although mine is blue to her orange). I cannot put into words how much I love my Crosstrek. I've had different luxury cars over the year, but I like this better. It has all the toys I want and was $30K. My monthly payment literally went down more than what we pay for my daughter's car, and I like it better than my Volvo XC60 T6. I might just be a life-long convert to Subaru.
Oh, and DH calls Subarus the state flower of Massachusetts. LOL!

We have owned 4 of them over the years and I would absolutely recommend Subaru. I have had 2 Outbacks and my DH has had a WRX and an STI WRX. His first WRX, he was in a horrible accident and we truly believe if it hadn't been for his car that he would have been dead. We don't keep cars very long but I'm thinking about getting a Legacy and we are buying our DD a BRZ. The thing we like is the AWD and the safety features are top notch. Good luck and have fun! The BRZ is the only Subaru that doesn't have AWD. My ds bought the WRX 2 years ago and loves it. As the Mom to a 19 yo shopping sports cars, the only thing keeping me calm was the 5 star safety ratings of the Subaru and the AWD. Besides the fact that it's a fast little car, ds like the idea that it would take a lot of mileage and that they retained their value well. The features seem comparable to any other car, he has a 2017 and it compares pretty well to my 2018 which is not a Subaru, but is loaded with features.

Ive owned three, the last two were Forresters, we loved them but I would not buy one again, as the seats are miserable for the longer distances I drive nowadays.

Thanks I'm considering the Subaru Forester but I'm moving from a Toyota Camry and still unsure if I want to give up the sedan comfort and drive. So the Outback popped up as another option. However, snow is almost non-existent where I live, but safety features are huge. I was considering a Suburu when I was car shopping earlier this year. I live in SoCal where snow/inclement weather is pretty much non-existant, so having AWD didn't make much sense. One thing I discovered when researching AWD vehicles is when you get a flat tire (that has to be replaced), you're supposed to replace all 4 tires, not just the flat one. For me that seemed like an excessive cost for something I didn't need. I ended up with a 2018 Honda CR-V instead. ![:)](http://i59.tinypic.com/211nd6h.jpg)

Yes a 2016 Forester. And overall I really really like it. Make sure you get heated seats (no matter what brand you buy) - in my opinion that is the absolute best option ever!! Pro's - extremely good in inclement weather and winter. A high clearance that I need for winter driving. A pretty reasonable price for mid-range model with some pretty good amenities. Con's - Loud heating/cooliing system. Man when you have the fan on high it is loud. Not the smoothest or quietest riding car, but my concern was a good AWD for winter driving. I work 2nd shift and am driving home when the roads aren't always at their best. I also have a steep drive and it is not plowed at midnight.

I have a 2012 Impreza. I love it. My husband really wants to get a WRX but they when he needed a new car to replace his Mazda 3, they said it would take 8 weeks to get one and that's if we weren't picky about the colour. He needed it sooner than that so he ended up with a used Mazda 3 turbo. But he still dreams of owning a WRX!

I know this is an old thread but I was curious for those that bought the Subaru Crosstrek. Are you still loving it? I went to test drive the Forester yesterday and saw the Crosstrek and really liked it. Test drove it and I think that's what I'm going to go with.

I will chime in that I was looking at the Forester and the Crosstrek. They were both pretty even in my books of what I wanted. My ODS has an Outback and has had it since August. He loves it. Now, I loved the look of the Crosstrek and coming from an Edge thought it was closest to what I had. UNTIL I got in it. It felt closed in to me. I didn't drive it as I couldn't get past that part. Almost to "carish" to me. Again, coming from an Edge that felt like I had a world of room in. But when I see them on the road they look so cute and not so small. I wonder if I short-changed it? The salesperson said it was a high seller on the lot. Well, truth be told every car on that lot seems to be in high demand. All this to say, I am in LOVE with my Forester Sport. I have had it since the weekend before Thanksgiving. To me, it rides and drives better than my Edge. My DH doesn't think so but I was in the Edge every single day and going out of town once a weekend on a highway drive to one of the kids every month. I don't think you could go wrong with either choice. I just needed the bit more room offered with the Forester.

You know what is funny....what I really liked about the Crosstrek is that I felt like I was in a cocoon. I thought it had plenty of room for what I needed. The Forester was very nice and drove like a dream. That is just more than what I'm wanting to spend right now. I agree, though, either way is a winner!

I posted on this thread in Oct and we had only had our Crosstrek for 3 weeks. We’ve now been through snow and icy roads with it and we still love it! It’s just the 2 of us and it has plenty of room for what we do. It’s even been up the mountain twice for skiing with snow covered roads where we saw other cars slipping and sliding. No issues at all for us and we are brand new to winter driving like this since we both grew up in CA.
I still think the Crosstrek is the best bang for your buck with the safety features it has. It is missing a few bells and whistles, but the safety features are top notch. We have the premium, but the limited has a few more conviences.

We need a new car and I’m looking at the Crosstrek - my friend has one and we just took it up to Yosemite I loved it - so cute and nice to drive.
Also she said they announced a new Crosstrek hybrid - anyone know about that?

I guess I tend to keep cars a longer than some and especially Subarus. They don't make Bajas anymore so that makes it harder to let go, too. Before that I've had 2 other Subarus )Outback and Impreza) which if I totaled up the years would equal more than I care to think about. Time flies.

Yes I have a 2006 Forester at my son has a WRX or something. We are looking at the Outback I think. My little suv is nice and easy to drive. It turns on a dime and is easy to park. The dealership is in a difficult to reach part of town and we only have the one here. I am not sure I want to have to keep going there for maintenance. It really sucks. I love my Forester, though!!!

We bought a 2018 Outback in June. It's our first Subaru.
We have been a Toyota family, but since hubby isn't working for them anymore, we needed to regroup.
We are really happy with it. Great on gas mileage (although there's a recall on the software that says how many miles you have until you run out of gas - it's wrong and they don't have a fix yet!) and all the gadgets (and there are tons) work awesome! Seats are leather, heated and aside from a squeak of all things, they're great.
We had a Forester loaner for a day - it was not the new design and we didn't like it AT ALL. So I hope the new design helps it. My concern with the Ascent is whether the engine can power that big a vehicle - cuz it's BIG.
LOL - I just saw I initially responded to this thread in October - I guess I really like my car!!
Wee did get window protection on our car - if it breaks or chipped, they'll replace it; extended warranty since hubby is no longer a tech, and even got the paint protection (which came in handy when some bozo literally brushed his lexus against mine). Odd things - when you use the touch open on the doors, only the driver door opens which is hard to get used to when you've had remotes that opened all the doors; still getting used to the push start (in a good way); and if the driver opens their door first after you turn it off, then all the doors unlock; but if the passenger opens first, then they all don't open. That's weird.

ladytrisha you can change the door thing. My DS changed his Outback to unlock all doors with the touch. When I drove my Forester up to see him, he got tired of my doors not opening. He sat down and huffed at me for having a car smarter then me. Laughingly of course. But he went to settings on the screen. I am with him now and we are heading out to dinner. I'll have him walk me through and get back to you.

My MIL, SIL, and niece do. They like it. I think when we retire, DH will get an outback. He drives a Lexus RX right now but he's always enjoyed driving a Subaru when he rents cars.

I am on my second Subaru and my son has a Subaru Forester. My first was a Subaru Legacy sedan that I had for 12 years and it had 240,000 miles on it. I’ve had my current Subaru Forester for 6 years and I have 115,000 miles on it. Other than the usual maintenance, I haven’t had any repairs.
I have been happy with my Subaru’s. Subaru owners are very loyal and they hold on to their cars a long time.
I’m in Ohio and we do get snow and ice, I love the All Wheel Drive AWD.

ladytrisha ok so here's what you do. Go to the home page onscreen, settings, vehicle, auto unlock, driver door. That one should do it. I may have missed a step as we can't exactly remember without actually doing it.

We had a Legacy years ago --- loved it and drove it to almost 300,000 miles. Just bought a Forester in November and love it, too. My only complaint is that it's not comfy on long trips (talking several hours long road trips, not just running errands or commuting).

I have been torn between keeping my Lexus or buying a new Forester. Like the size of the Forester better than my Lexus. But, I live in South Florida and do not need the all weather advantages.
Further, I have not driven the Forester because every time I go to the dealer they ignore me. I ask for assistance, they say we will be right with you then disappear and never return. It does not appear they are busy - so weird. If this is an example of their customer service I am afraid to buy from them. I never liked this dealer/company but it is the only one within 50 miles.
Would like to test drive this vehicle so I can make an informed decision but may not be worth the effort.

I have a 2015 subaru crosstrek. In general, it runs very well and I've had few problems with it.
The radio and the battery have both had to be replaced since I bought it (radio still under warranty), and I'm told this is not uncommon for subarus.

For me, however, the handling in bad weather (Vermont winters) and the high ground clearance far outweighs the so so ride. If you are not looking for weather advantages it may sway your decision. I would definitely see if you could test drive one for a bit. Good luck.

The owner here my son doesn’t care for (son is in the automotive industry himself) and bought from the previous owner of the dealership. It’s next to impossible to get appointments and loaner cars forget it. They are located far away from me and in an area of town I don’t like to drive in. All that said I do like driving a Forester. (The previous owner of the dealership was awesome!!!)
