I think at this point, everything this desperate president is doing is with the goal of currying the favor of his masses, based on the constant adulation highs he experiences at his rallies.
They roar with approval when he invokes “enemies of the state” and “socialists” and “angry mobs,” so his live comments and tweets become chock full of that kind of language when he’s feeling desperate or cornered.
The “Atta’boy” he’ll get from banning Jim Acosta is succor.

.......And Jim Acosta’s WH press credentials have been revoked. you know, what struck me about the entire press conference (as much of it as I could listen to, anyway) was that the ENTIRE issue revolved around Trump NOT letting the reporters ask their ENTIRE QUESTION before he started tossing his word salad back at them. Jim Acosta was just trying to ask his question, and Trump interrupted starting to answer some OTHER thing he THOUGHT Jim Acosta was going to ask. (in this case, it was because he didn't WANT to HEAR Jim Acosta's question-- because it was about the Mueller investigation, of course, but...) So in my opinion the reporters were NOT the rude ones during the press conference, but Trump was, because he wouldn't let them ask their questions. I thought it was insane when he accused the one reporter if a racist question. She asked you to disassociate yourself with white nationalists after the ‘I’m a nationalist’ comment.” He made at a rally. Instead of clearing that up, with a quick no that’s not what I meant. He deflected by name calling and rudeness. I don’t think Acosta even meant to touch her arm, if his arm even did tough hers, he was gesturing at Trump when she reached under his arm to grab the mike. He clearly felt it was a breech if his personal space because he said excuse me to her. But all & sundry are calling it an assault and taking to task any journalist who defends Acosta. That was an assault but gesturing a slit across your throat at a journalist is not a threat? I don’t like the nation we have become. But apparently enough of my fellow citizens do......

I agree hop2 , he was already repeatedly gesturing when she reached into his personal space to try and take the mic, and he was so polite about it. It infuriates me that they are not providing protection at the rallies where, when Trump gets the crazies foaming at the mouth and they feel empowered to make these gestures...nothing happens. They aren't escorted out. There is no announcement or signs that threatening words and gestures to the press are unacceptable and will result in immediate expulsion from the rally. No, they're encouraged. But this aide gets in his personal space and as a by product of her own action might be lightly touched with his already moving arm, and his act is condemned as aggressive and unacceptable by this administration.

Ms Sanders, in a statement posted in a Twitter thread, said the White House would "never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job".
"The fact that CNN is proud of the way their employee behaved is not only disgusting, it's an example of their outrageous disregard for everyone, including young women, who work in this Administration," she said.
"As a result of today's incident, the White House is suspending the hard pass of the reporter involved until further notice."What the hell. The WH's main occupant grabs females' genitals and they suspend Acosta's pass? He did not even touch her. He was holding on to the mic. The female aide's left arm grazed Acosta's arm while she was trying to get the mic away from him! Thankfully the whole "assault" is well documented so there is no question of what really happened despite the fiction coming from the WH. I feel sorry for the intern they are putting in the middle of this ridiculousness. I don't feel sorry for her. She chose to work for this administration. And so far as I know, she hasn't spoken up to disagree with SHS's categorization of Jim Acosta's actions as aggressive and inappropriate.

I guess Acosta shouldn’t have said, “Pardon me, ma’am.” By Trump’s standards, he should have grabbed her p***y. Trump wanted a confrontation, plain and simple. He was spoiling for a fight because his base loves it and he wanted to prove, as usual, that his d*ck is bigger than anyone else’s, especially after Dems recovered 1/3 – 364 to-date - of the seats they lost in Obama’s term. If he didn’t he wouldn’t have called on Acosta. Acosta could have asked him if it was raining that day and Trump would have attempted to trounce him no matter what. It’s all political theater to him.

To hear him talk - I honestly don't know why you need anyone else but him . He's achieved everything personally ,achieved more than anyone else etc . Save yourselves a fortune and just have Trump to do everything 😬 This is so interesting to me because conservatives have always lived on the platform of you don't want your government doing everything for you. They want small government. Now Trumpers are embracing a person who wants the government to do everything for them.

What an embarrassment for our great country. You have the sympathy of most of the rest of the world. This side of the Pond, we are just shaking our heads in disbelief. Whilst I don't agree with quite a lot of the administration here currently, at least I can sleep in my bed knowing that out Prime Minister, whoever he or she is, would never behave like he does. If they did, they would be out on their ear. Same from my side of the pond. And dog knows the French don't give a sh*t about presidents cheating on their wives and such... But Trump is something different altogether. And it's not a good or deep thing. There's nothing but bullsh*t to this guy. I don't get it. It's been two years and I still don't get it. It gets worse every time he tweets (yet again) or "speaks." I feel truly sorry for the US and the legacy Trump will leave in terms of diplomacy and international trade after his reign (finally) ends.
