Sometimes depending on the cake. I baked a pumpkin pound cake with a maple glaze a few weeks ago. After a couple of days, I stored the remainder in the refrigerator. So we would warm up pieces in the microwave before eating them. I wouldn't heat something with cream cheese icing but I might use a low setting to get it to room temperature since that type of cake also has to be stored in the refrigerator.

I don't heat up frosted cake, but everything else, yes. My hubby, no.

Cake is supposed to be kept at room temperature, the flavors taste better that way. However if you have leftovers for a week I would store in the fridge, then yes I might give it 10 seconds so it won’t be a hard cold block. ^^^ that's my answer, too. I'd do 20-ish seconds on 60-70% power; enough so the frosting softens up a bit. eta: but then again, I also soften my ice cream in the freezer, too... I like it when it just starts melting around the edges.

I've never heated up cake or heard of it being done, but I might have to try it some time

Ice cream cake is my favorite type of cake. I do like to warm up donuts in the microwave for a few seconds. I don't think I have ever tried to do that with cake.

I might think about it if it was a gooey chocolate cake, and it was cold outside.

I am just trying to wrap my head around the whole idea of leftover cake. Is that really a thing?

I do and I don't heat up cake. Depends on my mood. I don't think it's weird. Sometimes it's nice with a cold glass of milk.

I'm not a huge frosting fan (unless it's ermine or whipped cream which is very rare around here), but I've been known to heat up a piece of bundt cake, especially if I'm having it for breakfast with coffee. I need to get out more. This is ermine to me.

The rule around here is that all cakes much chill in the fridge for 24 hours so they are nice and cold before eating.
Heating/warming in the microwave is unheard of.
I do like warm brownies, though, but I'm the only one. Everyone else in this crazy house likes them cold or room temp.

I would heat cake if it started tasting dry and stale. A few seconds in the micro softens the frosting and cake long enough to eat it.

I heat up cake even when it has frosting. I microwave it for 5-8 seconds which softens up the cake part without melting the frosting.

Now I'll never make ermine frosting without thinking of weasels. I wonder where the name for the frosting came from (and why anyone would think "weasel frosting" sounded good).

We keep normal cake with buttercream frosting covered on the table or counter. We eat it at room temp.

Apparently (because I'm a giant nerd and needed to know the origin of the name, so I had to google), the frosting actually IS named after the weasel, because it's said the frosting is as soft and smooth as ermine fur. Still seems like a dumb name for a delicious frosting though.

LOL being reminded of animal fur - does that sound more appetizing or less? 🧐 Just think, now you can add this piece of trivia when you go to parties. Take a survey and report back to us. How many people do this 😋 and how many do this? 🤢

How many people do this 😋 and how many do this? 🤢 Sounds fun - but first I have to know how to pronounce it out loud. Is it ER-MINE or ER-MEEN? I do think I'm going to start calling the frosting "Weasel Frosting" though just because it's hilarious and might make people decide to pass on the cake which means more for me.
