craftykitten **update** 6/12/18
Craftykitten has asked me to thank everyone for the cards and get well wishes.
The great news is that she came home yesterday from the hospital, but is still very weak.
Thank you you all for your thoughts and prayers.
craftykitten has asked me to let you know was admitted to hospital with peritonitis on Friday night.
She had emergency surgery and is currently in ICU waiting for a further surgery. She also had chemotherapy number 5 last week, so if you could send some positive thoughts and prayers her way, they’d be greatly appreciated.
***update**** from her partner late last night - he’s given me permission to share
crafty kitten is out of the second surgery. The surgeon is happy that everything went as it should but stressed she is still in this very vulnerable place with the risk of infection. She’s going to need all your prayers and blessings to get through the next couple of weeks without anything going amiss.
She’ll be sedated again for at least 12 hours in ICU before they let her wake up.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, I’ll update again when I can
*****Further Update 21/11/18 pm*********** .
Just posting this from the partner of craftykitten
We are so appreciative of all the kind words people have said regarding her latest health issue.
They lifted her sedation this afternoon after her surgery yesterday and have been happy to remove her ventilation tube and just have her with “nose prongs” for a little more oxygen support. They are all about just very slowly stepping down all the support systems for her body until she is back in a place where she’s doing it all for herself.
The scrutiny of every possible measurement of her health is also extraordinary. I really can’t believe how on the ball ICU are but they are watching her with amazing vigilance for any problem.
Still the worry is sepsis, but today she looks good. A few more weeks full of days looking good are what’s needed. The next milestone will be when ICU feel ready to move her down to a less critical ward.
Still no visitors please, but I’ll be happy to pass on messages. In a few days she’ll hopefully have the strength to use her phone herself and I’ll leave her to keep you all informed.

**** Update 23/11/18******
Craftykitten did not have a great day today, they suspected an infection, but lots of tests and scans have
ruled it out for the now. The extreme pain she’s been experiencing has been attributed to more benign causes around her muscles responding to the shock of surgery.
She will be in ICU for awhile longer. Please can I ask that you keep her and her partner in your thoughts and prayers, thank you 😊
*** Update 25/11/18*** - from her partner earlier today
Yesterday was too gruelling to do an update. While things look better there are still issues with her pain management to resolve and nothing happens fast up here. On Friday night ICU had three other emergencies come in and you could tell they were feeling the strain and it did mean the level of attention we’d been spoiled with all week dropped.
Late last night, and with a lot of fuss, Craftykitten was judged ready to be discharged out of ICU to a surgical ward. It’s much quieter here and hopefully she’ll be able to rest better once the pain issue is solved, which we are hopeful will happen today, but it’s just been so tiring for her to be in pain for so long. My hope is once it’s done she’ll be able to get some proper sleep for a decent length of time.
***Update 27/11/18***
Posting this from the partner of Craftykitten
Again no update yesterday. I’m sorry for that, yesterday being Monday all the doctors were back and wanting to make up lost time for the weekend.
A definite feel of cautious optimism but a really long and hard road still ahead of her. I emphasise “cautious”: We find it very difficult to think too far ahead because we’ve just had too much unexpected happen in such a short time. Even if nothing else goes wrong it’s still going to be weeks of hard recovery.
Update 29/11/18 from Craftykitten’s partner **
Things have been much better and we’ve had some good milestones: Pain relief down to paracetamol; back to real food; and others.
The remaining people to sign off will be the physiotherapists to say she’s ready to come home. Two weeks in bed are not good for your strength, so there will be quite the process to even be able to think about it.
All being well, home next week, and then the process of getting life back together.
she has been really touched by all your messages and cards. It’s helped her to process it all because it’s been very intense for her.
