I have never ventured out on Black Friday. It scares me, and I don't like shopping.
I found out yesterday that it is easy to forget what day it is when you are out of America, and didn't celebrate Thanksgiving. Black Friday is a thing in London - and perhaps the UK as a whole! We had no idea it happened here and went out to see the shop windows in Piccadilly and Oxford Circus. OMG so so so many people. We panicked and left to go to the V and A museum where it was quite as could be.

ntsf what kind of produce bags did you get? I hate having to take those plastic bags. I worked at my retail Christmas job from 6A-2P. I’m just an online fulfillment and in store request person. So I really don’t go into the actual store much. We didn’t open til 8A and are not really a door buster kind of place. So only a few people were waiting to shop at 8. When I left there were throngs of people walking around the mall. It’s outdoor too. I had difficulty getting my car out of the garage. Last night BFF and I went to the outlets which are a 20 min drive. We thought by 5 the Black Friday people would have shopped on Thanksgiving. Boy were we wrong. It took us 90 mins to get there. There were lines down the walkways to get in Nike , Coach & Ugg. We were shopping for a very specific style of coat for her son. Didn’t find it. Got my middle dd a nice student teacher outfit at Banana Republic for $39.

It started off sort of crappy. Got to Target at 6:45am but they didn't open until 7am. So I decided to go to Chic Fil A and get some minis. I pulled up and rolled down my window to order. Rolled it back up because it was rather cold. Got to the window and started to roll my window down to pay. It got half way down and fell into my door ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) . So, I drove back home, with the window down, 42 degrees out. Woke dh up to a)let him know about my window as it was supposed to rain and b)ask if I could take his truck. Got back to Target and it wasn't crowded really at all. I had trouble find a few doorbusters. They weren't in the same spot they have been in for the last 10 years. Then I tried asking about something else and was told by said employee she was on her lunch break and she walked off. Didn't really get anything great there. Headed over to the mall. Again, not crowded at all. There were people there but it wasn't insane. I got something at the Disney store for my niece. Went to Old Navy. Line was super long but efficient. Got some of the $1 fuzzy socks, pj pants for DD bff and a shirt for DS. Tried going to Starbucks across the hall but they were out of peppermint. Ugh! Went to Macy's to look for some ornaments and found they had a Starbucks tucked away in the back of the store!! Didn't find any ornaments for me. Went to a few other stores but wasn't impressed. So I left. Went to Kohls. By this time it was 10am and no one was there really. I got something for my niece and some socks for DD. Realized this morning that I didn't take the $5 of in store coupon with me. Bummer. Went home and got DD and picked up her bff. Headed back to the mall around 2pm. OMG! Now it was insane!!! Parking was scarce. Crowds were massive. We went to Pink, but they were out of the $10 shirts DD wanted. Went to Icing for her to get some earrings. No line at all. Went to Aeropastle. That store is small, so it always seems extra crowded on BF. I found a shirt for DS. I checked out but then BFF decided to buy somethings. They waited in line and I went out into the hall. Lots of people. I was amazed at the amount of little kids out. We went into a few more stores but then called it a day there. We went to Ulta so DD could get the lipstick she needs for cheer. Then we went home. I learned that going out early on BF is really the key. I have never really been one to go to Best Buy or Walmart. So my experiences have always been pretty good. When I used to go to Toys R Us, I had a friend with me and we'd tag team it in line. So it wasn't bad. We'd be at the mall early and didn't really do stores like Macy's or Belk. Now with so many stores opening on Thurs night, the Fri morning crowds are not bad at all.

I went to pick up a full priced birthday gift from a local store, and my daughter went w/ me. We stopped at Nordstrom Rack. She found a cute little shirt that was priced at .01. I assumed it was a mistake, but I said “Let’s take it to the register and see what they say.”
When they scanned the tag, it rang up $19.95. I said “Would you check the tag?” He looked at it and manually changed the price from $19.95 to one penny! I felt good about that purchase!

I did really well. A local hardware store has a good Black Friday sale. You can draw for a coupon to get an additional percentage off and I drew just a 10, but all of the items I wanted were currently on sale, so I bought a block of Chicago Cutlery knives, a glass bakeware set, and glass covered food storage set for $39. It's all very basic stuff, but it is a lot of functional pieces. It is for my daughter who will be on her own next year and she has asked for items for her place. She needs no clothes or gadgets, so it'll be like a bridal shower without a groom.
I then went to Joanns and bought her the doorbuster baking set for $10. My other daughter has gotten into cupcake decorating and is getting kind of good at it, so I bought a few things for her there too. She'll enjoy it. I ordered clothes for younger daughter at American Eagle for 50% off. They are each getting Echo Dots as well.
I have been buying kitchen items from the Pioneer Woman line at Walmart and have been having a hard time deciding what dishes to get the oldest daughter. They are on sale this weekend and I've been having a hard time deciding which ones to get her. I like them all. So I got her to go to Walmart with me yesterday saying that I needed to get some other things. I made a point to walk past the Pioneer Woman items and admired an item. She said she watched her show all the time and commented on how pretty everything is. She said she loved a set of dishes. When we got home, I went to Walmart's site, ordered the dish set and will pick it up at the store on Monday. She might know that I was feeling her out.
My daughters have birthdays close to Christmas so I do a ridiculous amount of gift shopping in a short amount of time.
eta - I just ordered a bunch of workout items for my daughter to wear to cheer practice at Gap. They have to wear white shirts and I got some really cute ones as well as some other things to go with the leggings she lives in.

Well DH had to work so we did our Thanksgiving today but we did BF shopping last night..we got so WM at 5:30 to wait for the items on pallets to be unwrapped at 6 and some entitled asshole thought it would be cute to unwrap a pallete early and get their item and it was like a domino effect once the one person did it they alllll did it so we got started early putting things in cart...I got to the toy section and two girls start fist fighting over the last white baby doll and I was trying to just get out of the way but got pushed into the cardboard bins of jeans. Cops came..blood on floor. Fun times. Funny thing is this is the second fist fight I witnessed at this store...2..3 years ago I watched two guys go at it over a Xbox. I got some good deals and had fun even though a few people were jerks. Oh.my.word. 😱

I did most of my Black Friday shopping online, and frankly amazon had better prices on several things I was looking for.
Ds20 asked for a guitar. Never played in his life. I got a good starter guitar plus the extras, and a stand and book on amazon.
Ds13 wants a Nintendo DS3. Ds20 said amazon has the best price for that.
I got Dd a set of luggage at kohl’s online. Grabbed some clothes for me and ds at Penney’s online, plus the pair of boots I asked about.
Dd and I went to the mall around 3:00. I didn’t really NEED anything and was just glad to spend the time with her. Most of the lines were short. If we went somewhere with a long line we left the store.
We both found super cheap gifts, appropriate for the people, at Boscov’s bc they happened to be right by the restroom. LOL
Ds13 needs a winter coat, I grabbed one at Penney’s - $120 coat for $30 plus they offered an additional 25% off my purchase if I opened a CC. I had my arms full of stuff so I’m like thankyouverymuch.
I got some other odds n ends.
I was tired but it was a good day. I’m pretty much done shopping for ds20.

Didn't step out of the house yesterday, but we bought the Ring2 doorbell Thursday on line at JCP for 139.00 and got 10% off with ebates. Can't wait to get it and hook it up.
Forgot to say I went out this morning to pick up an order at Lane Bryant from earlier this week and they still had the BF sale going on so I got some new cute Christmas pj's at 40% off.

Stopped at Fred Meyer (similar to Target) and got my 1/2 off socks and underclothes for dh. Also got a pair of warm bearpaw boots for $36. Then stopped at Joann’s and bought more cardstock. Both stores and the one hour drive to the dog event were under two hours. Fred Meyer was busy but not horrible, I was there about 8:30, so I didn’t even get up early ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I have several BearPaw boots, I love them...way better than Uggs.

I redeemed $100 in rewards at Ulta and spent exactly $2. Cheapest Black Friday ever! I did get a few other things for other people as well but they weren’t door busters or anything. I did all of my shopping from my couch.

I’ve never done BF shopping but I wanted the $79 (normally $229) Christmas tree from Home Depot so I got up at 4:30 to get there at 5:00. My 23yo dd went with me. We were able to sit in the car until 5:30 then people started lining up. We were 12th in line and it seemed that everyone in front of us also wanted the tree! They opened the doors at 6:00 and had the trees in carts lined up. I had to run just a little to get to one. We went to the register, checked out and were in the car on our way home by 6:03. I came home and went back to bed!
I’ve set the tree up in the guest room because I wanted to make sure it was pretty. It is. It came out of the box totally squished and scrawny but it fluffed up rather nicely. It has the option of color and white lights or a combo. I think for $79 it’s a good investment since we’ll use it for many years.
