In your crafting, have you developed any new habits, techniques, go-to elements over the last year? Found a new favourite manufacturer? Changed your style--or tweaked it a bit? Gone to a different size or type of album? Started--or quit--making cards or wall art or art journaling?
What's new, buttercup?

I have started making a lot more cards. Photos are scarcer now my kids are teens, so I am really enjoying doing more stamping and card making. For my scrapbooking, I am mainly using FJ as I love that the kits all tend to go together in some way, so my albums look very clean and coordinated. I also visit this place a whole lot more!!

I have more stuff on my pages this year than I have in prior years. I credit or blame the challenges for that. I may end up redoing some of them even though I like them, just to give my album a more cohesive look

I like trying just about everything now, and I’m much more open to different styles and colors than I used to be. It’s actually made scrapping (and shopping 😂) more exciting too!

Interesting question! I don't think I do anything different now than I have the past 10 years. For about a 5 year span I scrapped 12x12 chronologically with a calendar page at the front of each month, but then I decided to scrap separate albums for each bot and eventually went back to 8.5x11 as well.
I really don't try anything new.

Lately I’ve enjoyed using kits. Something a year ago I NEVER did. They’re full of new ideas I wouldn’t have come up with, and help me fill in gaps in my books. Otherwise I think my style has remained virtually the same.

I still scrapbook 12x12 but now I use smaller photos. 3x4 size. In the past I stretched my photos out to make a 2 page layout, now I will trim photos and eliminate photos to get it all down to a 1 page layout. I still love doing it, but I have too many albums.

I'm getting out of my rut with my pages and trying new things which I credit the challenges here for that. And I'm venturing into card making for the first time.

I think my style has changed, definitely in the past year. I hurt my back last November (2017) and watched a lot of YouTube scrapping videos while waiting for it to heal. I have definitely picked up bits of other people's styles from that.
I also have declared I am not a card maker, although I'm also lazy, so throwing together a thank you card is easier than going to the store. Maybe I'm not a make a card in advance-r, because all the ones I made to have a stash, are still sitting here...
If 10 by 10 scrapping was a thing, I would change album sizes immediately! And stock up. After whatever I did to my back, I notice just how heavy and awkward a full 12 by 12 album actually is. 8 by 8 is too small, and I like square pages...
Besides scrapping, I also knit. I decided last year, not to be lured by any shiny new hobbies (Nicole Jones 911 and her diamond painting...), rock painting (it was big here locally for a while)and dropped some old friends (cross-stitching) so I could focus on just the two things.

A couple of years ago I switched to kit styled scrapping. When I print my photos, I usually do the journaling at that time so I know the story. Then I place the journaling and the photos in a kit I think best matches the story. It really cut down on a lot of time as I would waste so much choosing the paper.
But last March I went to a crop and I also put in sketches for those pages as well. I liked it. I wasn't really a sketch user to begin with. Then Sketchtember here renewed that. I think going forward for traditional pages where I print photos I'll always include a sketch (either made by myself or found).
Otherwise, I do 8.5x11 & 12x12 usually. Traditional and Digital. I tend to make layered heavily embellished pages, but will also do clean and simple or artsy sometimes. I also do art journaling, Bible journaling, & mixed media when the mood strikes and the time is had. So that hasn't changed.
This year, I'm also learning hand embroidery and continuing to learn to quilt.

I'm not shopping. I'm not in a position right now to splurge on myself, so I am trying to be content to use what I have.
My stash is very dented. You can see it most in the paper.
I'm forcing myself to be more creative, and find new ways to love what I might have felt a little tired of.
I'm going to try to set goals of using stamps and dies to jazz up my layouts.
I'm also being more okay with doing pocket mini layouts for my teen's school photos that don't always warrant a full 12x12 spread.
I have too many albums.

This year I have been trying my hand at mixed media pages. Luckily on my autumn trip to the US, I was able to buy goods in Tuesday Morning, Walmart and other stores (stencils, paste etc) which were cheaper than in the UK. I am still a novice at mixed media but I am enjoying going between regular scrap LOS and these new ones

When I look back at what I've made this year, I find 3 new trends for me: 1) Inking backgrounds and actually using those Distress/Distress Oxide inks. 2) Much more Copic coloring. It may have helped that I put my storage container on a small bench right next to my craft table. So easy to reach for them. 3) Making interactive cards. I love the surprise when something pops out of a card and hope my recipients do, too.

I guess I should answer my own question. I have started laying out my double page spreads more as a unit. I always try to coordinate the two pages, and usually tell the same story across both, but I am now photographing them more together, and so have begun making sure the lines run smoothly from one to the other. Also using more double page sketches. Thanks to a couple of classes, I am using more mixed media on my pages, mostly paints and Nuvo's. I have loved using the Nuvo's for much more than dots. They are easy to hold in my hand for writing titles and drawing shapes. The sparkly ones make a great shadow on snow. I started out almost exclusively scrapping from sketches. If I couldn't find a sketch, I drew my own, and then I forced everything into that sketch. After scrapping with justjac , who always laid out her photos first, I started doing that: lay out the pic's on a 12x12 cs, slide the layers in between, embellies over and under, until I like the look, and then start gluing. But Sketchtember started me back on sketches. Only this time I have kind of melded the two systems. If I find a sketch that matches the number/orientation of the photos I have, I lay those photos out first, and then go for the layers. I love looking through my albums to see how my pages have evolved and changed, but am happy to see that the focus has always been on the story I wanted to tell.

hmmm...
I really let go of trying to do things in chronological order or telling myself I have to get this done before that. I generally just scrap/create whatever I feel like. And I enjoy it much more that way.
I tend to collect paper/cards/postcards/stationery/bits from places I travel. I like trying to coordinate onto the page when scrapping about the travel/event.
As far as new manufacturer, I tend to not look at the traditional manufacturers anymore for embellishments. I attend several handmade artist events and have found a few who make their own stickers, paper, etc. I like the search and find of unique items.
I feel like I've just been scrapping for so long, if I don't find ways to reinvent it once in a while it gets boring. But then again, I still do a lot of the same techniques too. Combining papers and paper piecing is still my favorite.

I don't scrapbook chronologically anymore. I have started printing my photos at home as needed. When I started I just scrapbooked, but now I am a card maker, too. My layouts seem to have a lot of wood veneer and metal bits as embellishments. I have been doing some poured acrylic paintings and mixed media canvases.

I would say that over the past couple of years I have stopped using kits. When I started scrapbooking in the later part of 2014 it was due to a kit club (Studio Calico). I used to love their kits and would get the scrapbooking and PL kit each month with an occasional card kit (and all of those add on kits). During that year I found Paper Camellia and started to get their kits as well. At some point all of the kits started piling up and I did not make even close to enough layouts. In 2016 I didn't buy anything for scrapping (except adhesive and some cardstock when I ran out). This helped me get my stash down to a manageable level for me. In 2017 I started the year with another kit club but stopped after 3 months when I realized that I didn't need it anymore. These days I continue to use up my stash from the kit days and only purchase supplies that I really love. I might pick up most of a collection, for example. This seems to be working well for me. If I lived in the US I might consider getting a kit again every now and again. The shipping cost was just too high for Europe.
Love hearing what everyone says they have changed!

I make multiple pages at one time. I’ll lay them out and stack whatever elements I want on them and work on them together.
I also don’t worry about how much stuff I put on a page because I have so much stash. I load those pages up. No more worries about saving things for a better time, now I worry about never using it at all.

My stash is very dented. You can see it most in the paper. You are my new hero. I want to use my stash enough to see a dent in something! I have changed a lot in my cardmaking. Things like fussy cutting, watercoloring, ink blending, etc. - my attitude used to be "ain' nobody got time for that." But now, I happily do all of those time-consuming techniques, and more. I use less patterned paper than I used to - I used to put multiple PPs on every project; now I make many cards that have no PP or just one bit.

I'm very slow at changing my habits. The first thing I thought of was I rarely do page titles anymore. Switching to 12x12 pocket scrapping for family albums instead of exclusively scrapping 8.5x11 from 1995-2012 was a big change. I now do both sizes.

Gone to a different size or type of album? Started--or quit--making cards or wall art or art journaling? I realized I didn't answer all the questions. I've developed a bad procrastination habit. I have started making card cut files (making more cards) My go to elements seem to be diecuts from a machine. New favorite manufacturer? I like Pink Fresh embellishments. My style has always been rather simple. I have been saving all kinds of fancy things to do a heritage album to challenge myself; but procrastination. I've been saving lots of ideas on instagram for Travler's Notebooks ideas to do journaling. That would be a project to do for fun, but throw away when I'm done.

I don't think I have changed that much. I've always had a similar style to my current one - except I don't use enlargements as much anymore.
I did start brush lettering (using the Kelly Creates line from Ms) and am pretty happy with my progress. I've used it on cards, on layouts, on gifts even, embracing that it is not supposed to be perfect.
I am using more of my stash because of the way the scrapbook industry has changed: less new stuff to entice me! My stash rocks - some of that old stuff is GORGEOUS! - so I'm happy to dig in!

Hands down my biggest change is I do something creative for 30 minutes everyday. Usually I do 30 minutes in the morning before work, but after work is okay too as long as I do it. I'm starting to see real progress in my albums from doing something everyday. & I am really trying to use stuff when I still love it. Before I would save all my favorites, now I try really hard to just use it even if the project isn't "perfect".

I’ve started back really getting into scrapbooking for this year so it all seems new to me again! Mixed media and lots of embellishments are definitely new. I used to have very clean minimalistic pages where as now they are more elaborate and even messy. It’s become more of an art form for me than just memory keeping and I love it!
I also am starting to use things I love (or don’t) vs keeping them for that perfect page. There are so many things in my stas h that were never touched just waiting... in using stuff now, cutting nthem up reinventing and just enjoying it.

My style constantly changes because I like trends.
Right now I'm crazy for enamel dots, sequins, wood pieces, etc. Every page of mine looks sprinkled, and I guess I'm repeating myself a lot but I really like how it looks.
I used to use ribbon on all of my pages but somewhere along the line got away from that. My ribbons are in the basement, I need to get them out again and start using them. I really liked the texture contrast they added.
I don't do mixed media, which is odd because I'm an art teacher. I guess I'm knee deep in messes all day, I don't want to start that at home, too. I do like the way they look, though.
The amount of embellishments I use has changed over the years. I went through phases where I used a lot, and then a phase where I used very little, and I'm probably in the middle now. I used to use lots of layers, and I haven't been doing that lately- I think I'll try doing that again.
I use cardstock backgrounds most of the time, now. When I first started scrapping I'd use patterned paper backgrounds.
I used to do 2 page spreads mostly and now they are about 10% of my pages. I've recently added some project life type pocket pages into my books between layouts. It gets more photos in the album that I like but not enough to do a whole scrapbook page about.
I tend to use pop dots on most of my pages now. When I first started I was a flat scrapper. I used to do lots of photos on a page and now I usually do 1 or 2, occasionally 3.
I've been scrapping for 17 years so I've gone through a lot of changes.

In the past few years, I switched to printing pictures at home. I love being able to decide what I want to scrapbook on the fly. I also mostly work with collections now - let them do the matching and coordinating, I'll do the layout making. I do add other things from my stash but I generally start with the collection. breetheflea - I was just watching one of Nicole Jones diamond painting videos this morning - it's pretty & intriguing, but I don't think I want to dabble into something new either. LisaDV - I LOVE that you write out the journaling when you get your pictures! Such a great idea that I might steal. scrappyem - I love that you make time for creativity everyday.

But now, I happily do all of those time-consuming techniques, and more. Me too! I am really enjoying stepping up my cards more - I'm kind of obsessed with watercolouring and have asked for quite a few different watercolours for Christmas. I also love using my Distress Oxides and ink blending. I can really lose myself in it and forget my worries while I'm trying these techniques.
