Today I bought a tub of ice-cream. I almost never buy ice-cream, but mangoes are in season and I was buying a couple of those and thought a nice ripe mango with some good quality vanilla ice-cream would be just perfect.
I grabbed a tub from several rows back to make sure it was frozen solid as I knew I wouldn't be home for about 30-40 min.
Got home & put it in the fridge. Had dinner, then about an hour later cut up my mango and got the ice-cream out... THEN I noticed the seal was broken.... I opened the lid and someone had obviously stuck their finger in it and gouged some out to try it, then they put the lid back on and put it several rows back. Now I have no ice-cream because I'm not eating food that has been tampered with.
People are dicks.

Who the hell does that?!?! It would never even occur to me to do it. I hate it when I have my heart set on something, then something like this happens. I’m sorry you were disappointed because someone else was a dick.

Who the hell does that?!?! Exactly!! I think I've discovered a new diet though...get a random stranger to stick their finger into your food before you open it. Guaranteed to put you off eating any food in a matter of seconds.

That is awful! Would the shop replace it for you? Probably too late now, isn’t it, but it might be worth letting them know. If that happened in my shop I would replace it and it does bother me that occasionally the seals break off when the tubs are being moved around in the freezers but at least we would be able to see someone doing something like that; the freezers are close to the counter. Ice cream can get air pockets in it as it fills the tub but I doubt it was that, I don’t think you would mistake an air pocket for a finger scoop!

That's terrible. Sorry your ice cream was ruined.
But we must ask, what person doesn't know what vanilla ice cream tastes like and would feel the need to dip into it at the grocery store to taste it?
What a shitty thing to do.

Eww.
Um, how confident are you that the dent in your ice cream is finger-sized? There are some very sick people out there...

That is disgusting. I hope it was a kid who did it, but you imagine the parent put it in the back. I would be very sad that I didn't have my ice cream.

Last year at Thanksgiving I bought a good sized carton of low salt chicken broth for my dressing. When I grabbed it from my cupboard to use, I found that the seal under the plastic cap was pushed in. I was so ticked! Luckily I had a can of broth on hand. Yes, people are aholes.

That just sucks.

First, eww. Second, mangoes and ice cream sound awesome. You know, I had that happen before- twice actually, before I realized that the underside of the plastic cap had a "cutter" in it to break the seal when you twisted it. Any chance your does that too?

Many years ago in Paris, dh and stopped in a little corner store and we each bought a bottle of juice for breakfast the next morning. We sit down, dh opens his and takes a big slug of it. In the meantime, I'm struggling to get the inner seal off of mine and ask dh for help. His eyes got huge and he was panicking. His juice had not had the inner seal. Clearly someone had removed it. Poor guy was totally freaked out.

Ugh. That is revolting.
I know that feeling where you’re really looking forward to eating a certain thing, and then when that plan gets foiled? 🤬

People can be so gross! I don’t blame you for being disappointed especially for something as unexpected as that. Really, who does that? And I would absolutely be taking it back. What a pain though!

I was so ticked! Luckily I had a can of broth on hand. Yes, people are aholes. Is the boxed broth? This is a common misconception that the seal is broken... (I worked for a grocery store)..I had a lady that kept bringing back her broth.. she said every time she opened it it was broken. WELL the manufacturer made it to be that way, when you twist the cap that breaks the seal automatically. So she was breaking it open herself every time. It even says in small print by the cap. Not saying your box was the same way.. but it took me a few boxes of returned broth and the grocery store manager to figure it out.

I used to buy an ice cream that had a seal. One time the inner seal was torn. After that, I would check the seal before I bought it. If anyone asked, and no one did, I would explain why I was checking.
Speaking of dicks. I once saw a guy take a bite out of some broccoli and throw the remains back on top of the rest. I reported him. Gross!

I am sorry about your ice cream, that is so disgusting and so rude! that said, my dh worked for an ice cream company as a teen, and he and his friends would occasionally do things on the production line, like trace a picture of a penis in the ice cream (they wouldn't use their hands, of course) very much a "dick" thing to do, but it did make me laugh when he told me-picturing someone opening the tub and seeing an outline of a penis or whatever. and yes, it's not nice, but since it was over 35 years ago, I have forgiven him

I bought a can of Betty Crocker chocolate frosting once and when I got it home the foil seal was loose and when I pulled it up I was dismayed to see that someone had dragged their finger through it for a taste and then returned it to the shelf. UUUGGHHH. I'm sure it was some teenage boy who thought it was hilarious.
I mentioned it to the cashier the next time I checked out and she said to definitely bring tampered items back to the store for a refund.

That is gross! How disappointing for you. I hate it when things like that happen! I did something similar with some aftershave! When I got it home I thought the bag had a distinct smell so I opened the box (which I also took from the back of the shelf) and there was no seal on the bottle and a quarter of it was missing! Too late to return it as I was leaving that evening to travel to visit my dad for his birthday,
