”When I begrudgingly signed the Omnibus Bill, I was promised the Wall and Border Security by leadership. Would be done by end of year (NOW). It didn’t happen! We foolishly fight for Border Security for other countries - but not for our beloved U.S.A. Not good!”
Will trump have something to sign today?
MSNBC..
”House Republican leadership cancels press conference; move comes during ongoing discussions about short-term continuing resolution that would avert a partial government shutdown before Christmas.”

”Update: The House was expected to follow the Senate's approval of a temporary spending bill, but objections from conservatives and mixed signals from the White House created a cloud of confusion and uncertainty over the measure's fate.”

”Nancy Pelosi on whether she has gotten any assurances from the White House that Pres. Trump will sign the short-term CR to avert a shutdown: "I don't know that anybody ever has any assurances from the White House on any subject, including this one." abcn.ws/2CqCOp6”
She has a very valid point.

Part-time jobs do not pay the bills and surely do not have health ins. Kids have no choices in the matter, whether the parents work or not! His panicked and flailing attempts to redirect the news cycle are putting lives at risk, and are making us less safe. Thanks Trump voters. Some from the Senate/House are saying what I have said before, better to fight over there then to fight on our soil! Graham just said there is no ground swell in this country to remove the troops from Syria!

Have always said Brexit and Trump were entwined.
Same underlying fears - caused by 10% of the wealthiest owning 90% of the world's wealth.
Same fake solutions - put in righters who will only make the concentrations of wealth worse.

"On Monday, though, [Roger] Stone admitted that he used his platform on Infowars, the far-right conspiracy website founded by Alex Jones, to spread false information in another case. To settle a lawsuit seeking $100 million in damages from Guo Wengui, an exiled Chinese businessman, Stone admitted that he “failed to do proper research” before accusing Guo of violating U.S. election law by donating money to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Stone also falsely accused Guo, who is also known as Miles Kwok, of funding a presidential run by Stephen K. Bannon and being convicted of financial crimes." www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2018/12/18/roger-stone-admits-he-pushed-false-statements-infowars/?noredirect=on

"Legal scholars debate whether a sitting president can be indicted or only impeached. If the latter, it’s not clear given the statutes of limitation on most crimes whether he could ever be prosecuted for certain crimes. That surely seems wrong; the framers certainly did not intend to give the president a get-out-of-jail free card for crimes he might commit in office. (One solution might be to indict under seal.) What is clear, however, is that to the extent the president has a safe harbor for prosecution during his time in office, that protection is personal to him. His relatives and his business empire don’t get that benefit." www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2018/12/19/why-not-indict-trump-organizationGiven the choice between Trump stepping down but keeping his org & money intact; or Trump staying in office and losing all his money and his kids go to jail, which would you choose?
I would choose the latter. Because he'd be completely boxed up and he'd lose his money - which means more to him than anything in the world.

Whistleblowers said Treasury officials were using a Gmail back channel with the Russian government.” I have to wonder if things like this happened in past elections and we didn’t know about it, or people inside and outside this country really didn’t want Hillary elected president so they took steps to make sure she wouldn’t win.

TicToc Bloomberg..
”JUST IN: Ryan says Trump will not sign bill preventing a government shutdown over “his legitimate concerns for border security.”
“We want to keep the government open, but we also want to see an agreement that protects the border”
There you have it. One government shut down coming up.
The reality is one can secure the Southern Border without a wall across the entire border. A wall across the entire border will not solve the illegal immigration problem or solve the drug problem without addressing the three other borders and the tunnels under existing walls. A believe that is what is called a “comprehensive” approach.
The best course of action is to put walls where they make sense and use other, more efficient, cost effective measures to secure all our borders.
Lets be clear, this wall is nothing but a monument to trump. And the Republicans in Congress are willing to give it to him no matter what the price.

Merry Christmas from trump.. Mary Vallarta “BREAKING: After failing to gut food stamps in the Farm Bill, Trump has announced he plans to sidestep Congress & unilaterally slash the program by fiat—just days before Christmas.” ”1. A proposed rule issued today by the Trump admin would significantly weaken the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), by making it even harder for unemployed & underemployed workers to access food assistance, under the guise of harsher “work requirements.” “2. According to the Trump admin’s own estimates, the rule could jeopardize food assistance for some 755,000 Americans struggling to find stable work.” ”3. The rule would also undermine states’ ability to respond to economic downturns and help distressed communities with few jobs, by preventing states from helping their residents put food on the table when times are tough. (So much for states’ rights…)” “4. Let’s be clear what this is really about. Trump made no secret of his desire to see food assistance dismantled in the Farm Bill. He vocally backed a House GOP plan that would have stripped food aid from 2 million Americans and 265,000 hungry kids of free school meals.” “5. But that plan was so odious and cruel, it was DOA in the Senate. When a bipartisan Senate Farm Bill deal was struck that didn’t slash food assistance, Trump’s hand was forced—and he’s set to sign that version into law later today.” “6. But as we know, Trump doesn’t give up when he can’t get his cruel agenda through Congress. After GOP leaders in Congress failed to repeal the ACA & gut Medicaid legislatively, Trump has spent the past year doing everything he can to sabotage both through executive action.” ”7. Now he’s using the same playbook to unilaterally take food out of the mouths of hundreds of thousands of struggling workers and families, circumventing Congress after his draconian cuts failed legislatively.” “8. Remember, we’re talking about a program that provides $1.40 per person, per meal on average in food assistance. This is what Trump is so eager to take away from struggling workers.” “ 9. Once again, the Trump admin is dressing up their cruel cuts in the language of work, claiming their mass starvation plan is about the “dignity of work.”
Well, I’ve got news for them. “
Making struggling workers hungrier won’t help them find work any faster.”“12. Trump’s cruel SNAP cuts by fiat come as nearly *half* of Americans report trouble finding a job with decent wages in the past year, according to @amprog polling:” ”13. Workers of color and workers with disabilities will be especially hard-hit, as they face unemployment rates 2-3 times higher than other workers.” Prepare to see the crime rate increase. People are going to get food anyway that they can. And not necessarily by obtaining a (nonexistent) job.

He did it anyway. @agearan @jdawsey1 washingtonpost.com/amphtml/politi…” From the article.. ”President Trump’s decision to abruptly withdraw troops from Syria is a clear rebuke to Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, the last remaining member of a retinue of military men Trump once fondly called “my generals.” Mattis had argued that the counterterrorism mission in Syria is not over and that the small U.S. presence in Syria should remain, said current and former U.S. officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share internal policy discussions.” ”The Pentagon chief also had tried to explain to Trump that there would be more chaos in the region and future problems for the United States if the troops leave, they said. On Wednesday, it became clear Trump was brushing aside his defense secretary’s advice. Once considered among the most influential advisers to a president with no prior government or military experience, Mattis has been repeatedly overruled by Trump in recent months and left out of key discussions as the president pursues his own national security path.” Well he is a stable genius with a big brain. I’m guessing this is in the same box as the deficit. He’ll be long gone by the time the consequences arrive.

Yeah, Trump has commented that he knows those workers are patriots who understand they're giving up their livelihood for a good cause. 🙄 I have heard die-hard Trumpsters say the same thing about the farmers who he's screwed, too. "well, it might be painful now, but it's all for a good cause in the long run." Yeah right- tell that to the family FARMERS. (you know, all the small-town farmers who are already getting screwed over by the mega-factory-farming corporations... and the produce farmers; the ones who can't get migrant farm workers to help in their fields... I'm sure they'll all be super-understanding.)

Workers of color and workers with disabilities will be especially hard-hit, as they face unemployment rates 2-3 times higher than other workers.” I can tell you how it's been going in FL with Foodstamps lately. DH & I are both disabled (and he's retired). They have put SEVERE pressure on us every 3 months when we renew our Foodstamps. They used to allow you to click a button on their website if anything's changed. Then they wanted you to fill out the form all over again, and currently they're requesting phone interviews to renews your "benefit". In this phonecall, they give you about 3 minutes to QUICKLY have all of your #'s and info at hand. I told the woman I was speaking with that I was having difficulty with my vision as I JUST had an eye surgery. She didn't care at ALL. She said, "I'll give you 3 business days and call back." Made no difference to me--that didn't help and I couldn't possibly gather all of the information and rattle it off to her that quickly. So...... our Foodstamps were cut in 1/2! I expressed that that couldn't possibly be right as we had medical bills piling up and nothing has changed with our information. That's the way it is now! She said, "You could try to add on new bills online, and we'll see if that adjusts your benefit amount" but I still don't have an explanation as to why they're cutting it in half.
Same goes with Medicare. They're making everything FAR more difficult. I know my way around our Medicare policies and we do qualify for the "extra help" with Rx's (still, @ 17 Rx's per month, the copay is enormous) but it seems that every month brings about new policies that are tightening the rules and leaving the disabled, elderly and poor with less and less. It's downright disgusting!
