Yds has requested buttermilk fried chicken and shoestring potatoes. I'll make some spinach w/garlic, as well. It's Santa countdown and I'm getting excited. If energy permits I'll bake cookies this weekend and fatten up my friends and neighbors. We'll see how it goes.
What's on your menu?
hop2, how are you feeling today? Was surgery successful?
desertgirl, how did things go? Are you feeling better today? Do you need Prep-H coated arrows?
Happy weekend before Santa. Be naughty and nice. It's much more fun.

Well, since DS introduced more chaos into my life last night (nothing serious, just his usual impulsivity and thoughtlessness ... grrrrrr ... and yes, he is 37) no dinner was made. Chicken tenders are headed to the freezer. I will probably drown my sorrows in pizza tonight.

It turned rainy and windy here today, unfortunately while I was in the city center at the markets buying food for our dinner. It also played havoc with the trains, so everything took longer than it should. But, I did get home with food and was able to have a quiet afternoon until DH arrived home at 4pm! It's his last day before Christmas break, and he said there was hardly anyone else in the office anyway.
Dinner here tonight is fish pie. It has veggies in it and mashed potato on top, so I don't need to add anything to make it a meal!

I don’t think we’re cooking anything. Dh and I just had Chinese for lunch.

Just marking my place looking for ideas. He is open to everything except liver. Why? He ate it last night. Yuck! He might want salmon. If he does then I will get myself a piece of steak.

Tonight is our dinner party/game night. Appetizers are cranberry bites, artichoke dip with Stacy's Pita chips and mixed nuts. For the entree we're having a yummy salad, shrimp gumbo over rice and sourdough bread. Right after dinner I'll serve a small scoop of chocolate ice cream with a little orange infused olive oil we brought back from Spain. Then later we'll have pecan pie (homemade) and/or apple pie (Costco) with vanilla bean ice cream and coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream.

Not sure what we are going to have. I would suggest pizza but I don't think my stomach can handle that. Whatever it is it has to be easy, Kait and I are planning on doing some baking tonight.
Happy Friday!!

DH is having no issues with his mouth but we're still doing soft foods for another day or so. I'm thinking scrambled eggs and hash browns for tonight.

P.S. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS ONLY 4 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!!

We are going over to the in-laws tonight. My SIL is making meatballs and a salad and I'm bringing mac and cheese and an apple crisp.
I've had a really lazy day...just what the doctor ordered. On the other hand poor DH is still at work; he's had a really busy week.

No idea...Dad is back in the ER. He went to his primary today because he has not moved his bowels in a week (and if he has it has not been 'enough'). She sent him because his stomach is tender. So there they sit...My mom keeps telling me not to come because the place is a zoo. I am beyond anxious

lucyg , I'm sorry that your ds has brought stress into your life. Even if it doesn't affect you personally, it still is hard to watch your son do something that is not good. ((((HUGS)))). cadoodlebug , what a fun evening. Which games will you be playing? Pecan pie? Yummmmmm.
christine58, They'll likely do a CT scan and check for either impaction or obstruction. Your poor dad. Both issues can be fixed w/o surgery, but neither is fun. We're here to listen.

Thank you, scrapmaven. It was really nothing more than unnecessarily inconveniencing me, but it gets old. christine58, once again wishing your poor dad well. That’s no way to spend Christmas! And I would just like to make it very clear, I could hop in the car right now and be at cadoodlebug’s in plenty of time for dinner, even allowing for hellish holiday traffic. mmmm ...

christine58 I am sorry that your dad is having to go back to the ER. I hope that the doctors figure out what is going on with him soon. desertgirl and hop2 I hope that both of you are feeling better. cadoodlebug Your dinner sounds delicious and it sounds like such a fun evening! My my brother found out that he is in remission from the Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. So Christmas is looking great with this news. On another note, we are still waiting for DS’s pathology to come back to see what autoimmune disease he may have and how to treat it. We are very worried and hope that it is treatable. Tonight is rechauffe.

We’re having dinner delivered. My dh and dog arrived last night at my parents’ house and it was so good to see him. Dd2 and SIL will be here tomorrow and we’re going to spend some more time with my mom. SIL is planning to cook for us while they’re here, so that’s something to look forward to as he is a great cook! christine58, hope they figure out what’s going on with your dad and it’s easily fixable. destined2bmom, awesome news about your brother!

I left my brothers and their wives to feed my father. The kids and I had been over there most of the day and DH came when he got off work, which was early today, but he has been up since 4am. So I told my dad we were going home so he could rest and we had things to prepare for Christmas and wouldn't be back to eat. We had planned to go out to eat somewhere, but finally decided to just stay in away from the crazies and have Sandwich Night. Works for me. scrapmaven your menu sounds delicious. This southern girl can always eat fried chicken. christine58 thinking of you and your dad. I hope you get some answers soon.

We stopped by Sheetz (gas station here in the north east) and got subs for dinner while also stopping to get the individual sodas for my nieces/nephew's goodie Christmas box. (They each get 5 drinks in it and with 5 people to buy for that's a lot of bottles of soda lol)
We also got some of the candy they requested too. I am hoping to bake cookies tomorrow and then finish my goodie box shopping Sunday. We're doing gift exchanges with my sister's family Monday.

Ugh, do we have to eat again? I'm so tired of that decision. We'd have to cook something; the bulk of the leftovers in the fridge are rice, white and brown. I may suggest beans and rice; that will be vetoed, so maybe he'll cook burgers? I was informed last night, on my way home from a meeting out of town, that his sister and her family are expected Saturday. That'd be okay if I didn't have two spare bedrooms covered in Christmas crap! So, I'll be working to prep bedrooms tonight.
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I hope you season's meals are perfection!

Rib eye steak, fancy rice, spinach, broccoli and green beans and Christmas cake we made. We have only a little bit of vegetable left in the fridge but there’s more than enough for two servings. Should be perfect. I told him I am feeding him more vegetables to keep him alive longer. I don’t know if it will work but he appreciates the sentiment.
