We are in the DC area and DD is supposed to fly back to college Sunday morning. Ugh. I'm just hoping we are on the light side of things, but I'm expecting some delays. I'm not sure how she will get back to school if she is delayed. She's supposed to ride back with friends, but they won't want to wait around forever. Her school is an hour and a half from the airport, so Uber would cost an arm and a leg. My parents are there, but dad just had surgery yesterday and my brother is out of town. GAH! I hope it works out for you DD!! Also, prayers to your dad, and I hope that he's doing well.

I am in NC where we are supposed to get ice. I don't want any of it. After the last storm where we got 14" in December, I don't care if I ever see snow or winter weather again in my lifetime. I am ready for Spring! Stay safe everyone! Ice is the worst! I don't like driving in snow, but I'll take it over ice!
I have to share my worst ever driving in ice story. LOL
Two years ago, my son had recently moved to CO for school. He hadn't had his license very long, so at Christmas time, I flew to Denver so I could drive him back because he was nervous driving so far by himself. He picked me up at the Denver airport at about 7 PM, and we headed for home. We stopped in the middle of KS at about 1 am at a hotel for just a few hours to sleep because an ice storm was expected in MO the next day. We were on target to get home before it hit, but came sooner than expected. It took us 12 hours to drive 90 miles. OMG, it sucked so much, I was traumatized. LOL I don't think I will ever willingly drive in bad weather ever again.
I hope everyone stays safe this weekend!
Yikes!!! Do you have permanent fear from that storm? I've been through a few bad blizzards and ice storms in NY, and one time my (Now ex) husband was driving just the 2 of us. He slid across 3 lanes of traffic and then across themiddle of the road and through 3 lanes on the wrong side. Luckily we slid into a parking lot and it took a lot for me to be ready to begin again. We had a few dangerous rides like that and hate it, feeling helpless. I pictured our kids at home, being orphans. Be safe, everyone!

We had to be in Columbus this weekend and hope we don’t get stuck here if the roads are still bad Sunday morning. But the forecast here was better than where we came from at least.

I'm in the KC metro area, and I am rationing the wine so it lasts through the weekend lol. It's been raining here all day and turned to snow in the last hour. We are expecting 3-6 inches. It's been more like a normal winter here than the last 3 that I've been here. I love being snowed in. I'm in the KC metro too. I went to the grocery store this afternoon. Between the snow coming and the Chiefs game, the grocery store was mayhem!

I'm in Annapolis, MD which is about 45 minutes away from Washington DC if there is no traffic and you are driving fast. I just checked weatherunderground.com and on that site they are predicting 30 inches of snow starting Saturday and ending Sunday! We've had huge snowfalls like this before but that's a ton. We'll see if we get that much. Weatherunderground is usually fairly accurate. Luckily I went grocery shopping last week (I go every 2 weeks) so the cupboards are still full. I've got the ingredients to make chili and cornbread-seems like the perfect time to make it.
Edit-Woops, big mistake by me. We are actually expecting 1-3 inches of snow, not 30 inches. DS pointed out that I was reading the weather report symbols incorrectly. That's a huge relief. My brain is a bit of mess today after a huge migraine yesterday-probably brought on by the pressure changes. It usually takes a day for my brain ability to fully recover.

KC area here. It is coming down here, but not like in central MO where my family is already dealing with half a foot with probably that much more to come.

We're only supposed to get 3-6 (or 2-4, depending on whose forecast you use). That's more than enough for me. DS hasn't really driven in snow so he's staying at a friend's in town. Better to drive 5 minutes in the snow (to go to work) than the 30+ it would take from home.

Well, I just woke up to a Winter Storm Warning--ice with snow now expected and roads will be impassible with expected power lines and trees down. It begins at 1 p.m. and goes through 7 p.m. Sunday. Please stay AWAY!

Uh oh. We are in Springfield, Missouri, and since yesterday have managed to dodge the bullet because our temps have remained right between 33 and 35 degrees...but it has rained NON STOP for all of that time. NON.STOP. Just as I read this thread, sitting here at 6:40 am, I realized the sound of the rain on our metal roof has gone silent. That can only mean one thing - it is changing to SNOW. ughhhhhhh I am not looking, just not looking, lol!

Stay safe and good luck to everyone in the storm’s path. Hope you can enjoy your snowday(s).
I am in northern New England and we we are not in the path, although we just had snow the last couple days. Not a ton but we got 9 or so inches in my area over a couple of days. The mountains got much more though.
Our issue now is cold weather. We are in the negatives, so it makes it hard to enjoy the fresh snow we just got.

We are in West St Louis County and had 9” at 11:00 last night. I haven’t even looked outside yet. Very concerning to me is the fact people were sitting on highway 44 for eight hours trying to get home from work. Hoping things are better this morning. We knew we were in trouble when Jim Cantore came to town.

I'm in Central VA and we're expecting 6-10". In the December storm we got 14", but it was gone in 2 days and poured rain the rest of the week. This one is supposed to stick around a while. I've got two of my kids back at school and the third is in Switzerland where they are also having record amounts of snow. There, however, they are used to it and it's manageable. She doesn't start back at school for a couple weeks. I'm just thrilled to be all alone with my couch, my dogs and plenty of wine and fondue to see me through

I FU@KING hate snow! I live in the St. Peter's area just west of St Louis. It normally takes me about 40 min to get home, however I got stuck in that ice storm from hell 2 years ago and it took me like 4 1/2 hours to get home. I tried to get out early, left by 2:00 but it was not early enough. Still took me 2 treacherous hours to get home and I ended up skidding through an intersection and hitting a light post about 1/4 mile from my house. I did not get hurt and I know I'm very lucky but I am so freakin crabby today.

I drove yesterday from NW Virginia to SE Virginia and all of the roads were either pretreated or were being pretreated (got stuck behind a truck at one point), so I suppose we will get something here. At least they’re more prepared this time around. I just hope the power stays on!

It took two friends 11.5 hours to do their usual 20 min/30 min drive home. Highway 44 was such a mess and they are still having problems today west of St. Louis.

They finally made it home. She called in today as her apartment complex is snowed in.

I’m in Wentzville (west of St. Louis & St. Charles) and have 9+ inches so far with another couple to come. Not looking forward to digging out!
In the meantime I have crochet projects and house cleaning to do! Thankfully it came on a weekend.

I’m hoping the rain mixes in and helps melt down the snow pack. I’m another who doesn’t like snow at all, got scarred from to much snow when I lived in the Spokane area. Especially don’t like the yuck it leaves behind.

Still snowing here, and the power has flickered a few times. I just checked the Door Dash app and the delivery fee for food has gone up to $9.99. Between the Chiefs game and the weather, they are cranking up their rates.

nw mo.. we're expecting 5-8 inches, but I'm really not too worried about it. Two 4wd vehicles in the driveway. It's when it's windy it's an issue. Sometimes we'll get 5-11 foot drifts on our road.

Northern New England here and we are expecting 12 - 18 inches in my area (we are in the middle range for accumulation) which is not really a huge deal - the nastiness is that we are supposed to have strong winds and single digit temperatures with windchill temperatures around -35 degrees. We can really do without the wind.

Here in WNY, 10 inches is just another day in the life of Winter to us. We're supposedly in the path, but no one is panicking in any way. We figure it will be pretty much life as usual. Might make the power go off and that is inconvenient, but most of us shrug off anything less than 36 inches or so.
Now those of you in the path of ICE---that's another thing entirely. I hope it doesn't happen. There is simply no real dealing with ice!
I think I'm one of a very small breed. I actually enjoy winter. I love walking outside with my dog while the snow comes down. I don't mind the cold at all. I love a nice warm house and there is nothing like a toasty electric blanket at night.
Keep safe everyone.

12-15 inches are what they’re calling for here. I better get every inch they expect.....I had to cancel a 6th birthday party, and my little men are disappointed. They’ve now moved on to excitement as they expect to play in the snow all day long!!! So instead of getting ready for a party i will be dressing and undressing kids all day 😳🤪🤣

My SIL is on the road headed east from WI to WV for his Sun shift at White Tail Ski Resort. Driving in falling snow at night? Bad planning.
