Last year I did 100 days of black pages www.instagram.com/explore/tags/100daysofblackpages/ which was just working in a specific black page album for some time every day. Some days I was literally just sticking down one thing, other days I spent a lot of time on a page. Having the flexibility to spend less time on busy days was helpful for me to stick with it for 100 consecutive days. It was a good jumpstart into doing creative journaling in an empty book I was being perfectionist about. This year as part of my "depth year" ( blog post about what that means) I'm going to work on something that I've done before that I want to develop my skills in, to dig more deeply into. Probably either learning new knitting skills (maybe hard to define a daily activity goal), learning how to crochet - maybe a granny square a day, or a drawing a day. I have a list of skills I want to dig more deeply into this year, so closer to April I will choose the one I most want to focus on. those are beautiful

Who is the originator of this idea/project and why 100 days?
That is a looong time LOL! I'm amazed to hear there are those of you who did. I doubt I could make it a full week.
**Oops I see my question was already answered.....sorry!

I tried it last year and I went to 35 days, it was wonderful, I wish I would have kept at it. I want to try again and actually do the full 100 days, I know what to do now that I had the 35 day trial run last year so that I can stay focused.

So I've been thinking more about what I want to do for my project. I really wanted to commit to sewing every day because I really want to improve the skill and there are so many things I want to make. I just don't think this is a realistic goal because there will be days where I will be traveling or won't be home for enough time to really pull out sewing stuff. I also have a lot of other projects I want to complete that I don't want to completely drop for 100 days.
So, I was thinking instead to do 100 days of creative progress. I don't want this to be just a cop-out where I don't have a specific action, but I was thinking I could focus on finishing up unfinished projects and starting/finishing projects currently on my to do list that I haven't gotten to. I would probably tie it together with a daily photo with a similar format each day, such as a photo of my hands working on whatever project.
I haven't fully worked out the "specifications" yet but I think I wouldn't require myself to complete a project daily because some of the projects on my list are really too much for one day, but I want to work for at least 10 minutes daily and I will document what project I worked on, a daily photo, possibly also log a time for the day. I want to make sure I'm working on projects that are already on my list, rather than adding new ones, for the majority of my projects and that I'm actually being productive (as opposed to project planning/daydreaming/looking at inspiration). I also might make "mini" day requirements for project type, such as 25 days minimum sewing, etc., or at least track this information so at the end I can say I spent X number of days sewing, X number of days scrapbooking, etc., and also list out all the completed projects. Just based on the reality of my schedule I know there will be a handful of days where I can only commit 10 minutes and probably won't make a ton of progress (as with last year when I would knit literally one row of a scarf), but I want to make sure I don't slide into doing that when it's not necessary.
Thoughts? Does this seem to vague to be successful? Any ideas to keep myself accountable or how to structure it?

lasteve1 have you considered doing 100 days of sewing but not requiring them to be the official 100 consecutive days? If that's the skill you really want to build it might make sense to keep focused just on that, but give yourself a way to make it work around your schedule. I get that some people do better with the discipline of an every day project though. 100 non-consecutive days of sewing could take a long time to reach. Nothing wrong with your current plan though, if it sounds like it will work for you. I'm sure you have a sense of when something becomes too vague to keep yourself accountable and focused.

That's a good idea also, but last year I changed what I was doing about 20 days in and "started over" so I was off on the days from every one else. I really like the idea of posting about it and following along with everyone else, at least for this time. Maybe I will make that an additional project to do in the future though...

I like what you wrote, lasteve1. I also have an issue with the 'every day' aspect of a 100-day type of goal if it had to be consecutive, so I would need to do 100 non-consecutive days. And I would also want it to be more of a general 'creative activity' than doing the same exact activity every day, too. I think I'm going to take your idea of a list with a minimum # of times for certain types of activities, and the idea of tracking the time and taking photos or tracking the completion of the items. (and what it really SHOULD be for me is 100 days of cleaning/organizing... or purging, lol!)

Is there an official thread for this project? Do we have to take a picture and document everyday? Is there a person to report to? I'm interested in doing this as well.

Is there an official thread for this project? Do we have to take a picture and document everyday? Is there a person to report to? I'm interested in doing this as well. You mean on 2 peas? This thread is probably where everyone will share anything related to the project.
As far as the actual project organizers, I have found it isn't super centrally organized, but there is a website explaining the project (it was shared earlier in this thread, but here it is again www.the100dayproject.org/). As far as people participating in the project most share on instagram with the hashtag listed on that website. I think the idea is that if you share it publicly daily it helps keep you accountable, but of course you can participate without sharing photos every day.
Last year I started sharing photos every day but didn't want to flood my instagram feed with knitting photos so I used the collect app to just document for myself each day and only shared on instagram periodically. This year I think I will share every day on instagram but in stories, but I think my project this year will be more visually interesting then another photo of my same knitting project!
Last year I also created two "projects" to document my project after the fact. One is a pocket page layout (in my personal album) that reflects on the project. The second was in my fabric album where I document all my fabric makes and I included all 100 photos in page protectors with 2x2 pockets. I haven't shared the first one on instagram yet, but here is the second one:

Signing up at the 100dayproject website doesn't get you much except a few reminder emails and some promotions for horrifically expensive workshops or meetups. My perception was that it's more intended for professional artists and self-promoters. I'm sure they'd love you to officially sign up but I didn't see much benefit to me. But you can join in and use the hashtag and share photos on social media if you want to, or not, without officially signing up. If you use IG it can help to have a unique hashtag like #JoBs100daysofwhateverproject so that you can see all your posts together and share them easily (I usually just link to my hashtag if I want to share my project, since my feed is full of all kinds of things). Having your own hashtag also helps keep track of the days if you start late or skip some days. I just kept going until I had 100 posts there. Do you have an idea for your project? It's really fun and challenging (in a good way!) however you do it.

I think I've figured out what I want to do! I had been thinking generally about drawing, but there's a specific type of illustration I would like to learn for my business - kawaii/cute characters. I haven't really tried it yet, but I keep wanting to buy a iPad to learn to do them digitally, because I'm always one to get ahead of myself and make it into a bigger thing than it needs to be/buy an expensive gadget I don't need. -sigh-
Anyway, I found a couple of YT channels and reference books to help build my kawaii drawing skills. I'm planning to do 100 days of cuties - trying to draw adorable furniture and otters and sloths and other characters, all with kawaii smiley faces. I figure that one way or another I should be able to improve my skills in 100 days, and if that leads where I want it to (drawing my own characters instead of buying Doodlebug die cuts) that would be awesome. And if not, I have a collection of happy smiling drawings and slightly better hand-eye coordination.
I'm happy that my goal is really specific, and that it's portable - no excuses. If I only have 5 minutes I'll draw a couple of cute clouds. If I have more time I can do more.
(I might still buy myself an iPad. lol)

The 100 Day project is so close! Elise Blaha Cripe (who is my favorite person to follow for this project) announced her project for this year and it's basically the same as mine, she's going to work on finishing up unfinished projects. I'm not sure if I like that we are doing the same thing...
On one hand, it will give me some inspiration. On the other hand, it seems like I'm just copying her (I'm not, I announced up there ^^^ for proof! Ha!) and I already have an idea of how I will document it each day and I'm worried I will compare myself and feel like a failure.
But anyways... who else is participating? What have you decided to do (if you haven't already announced it here)? Are you sharing on instagram? Let me know your username, I want to follow other peas who are participating! I plan to share in my stories and then highlight them so I don't clog my feed, but still share 100 photos. I am @lindalovescreating on instagram.

I am but I'm still deciding on the details. Not sure if I want to limit myself to art journaling for 100 days but I do want a little more structure than just saying do something creative everyday.
If you sign up for the newsletter at the100dayproject.org they've created a free printable reflection guide and a cute tracking map. There is some merch too....I bought some stickers. I plan on using them all in my OLW or PL album when I'm done. Sounds like they are planning to launch a podcast soon which could be interesting. The closed Facebook group is up #the100dayproject. Lots of chatter going on there.

I really like the idea of this. I also love the link that joblackford posted about her depth year. For a long time, I have wanted to use more of existing craft supplies and put them to good use, rather than just accumulating more. I find that a shopping trigger for me is lack of time or energy to do anything creative, so I go through long phases where I accumulate more and more supplies, without actually using them. I think that my challenge is going to be 100 days of creative use of my supplies, whether it is my scrapbook stash, yarn, fabric, mixed media...whatever. This is pretty broad, but I hope that it will focus me on improving my existing skills and appreciating and using my abundant stash.

I think I am going to do 100 days of bible journaling. I have the Illustrated Faith 100 journaling book already and have been wanting to start it. I can take it with me while I am on vacation too, and it will be easy to keep up with and complete.

I have never heard of this and I absolutely love it! I think I’ll do something in my craft room every day—even if it’s sorting, organizing, putting a scrapbook card in a pocket, picking out papers or fabric for the weekend ... surely I can do something for a few minutes each day!

I'd like to journal/document what I learn, how I grow, etc. I plan to do this in a TN. Essentially, words to live by sort of thing.

I wasn't sure I was going to participate this year, but I have decided to do 100 days in digital. Whether it's working on a page, learning a new technique, honing my paper making skills, learning how to create my own supplies, etc. I figure JC could be fairly easy.
So if anybody has anything they'd like to see made, let me know.

My tracking map is printed out and ready to go. I'm going to be doing something crafty every day, with a focus on making cards with all those unused supplies I have. I will be posting on instagram but likely not every day. After I've designed a card, I go into mass production mode and there's not much to see there. If you want to follow along with me, find me at pdoyle2178.

I'm playing along in the different league and doing 100 days of health: increased workouts, focusing more on getting 10 portions of veg and fruit a day, mental wellbeing with self-appraisal questions. Perfect to get ready for summer! I will, however, track my progress with a weekly calendar Traveler's Notebook insert, some stamps, flat embellishments so not completely leaving the realm of crafty things.

And the weather warming up for some outside exercise. GAH! I'm so excited.

I am doing 100 days of mind and body. The body part is basically 30 minutes of moving. The mind part is to spend 30 minutes reading or learning something (For instance, I have a bunch of unfinished scrappy classes to work through). I spend, rather waste, so much time on my phone/ipad, watching or binge watching shows and I really need to cut back on that type of thing.
Then with my husband we are doing 100 days of eating at home. It doesn't include social obligations or the weekend we are going away in June but we want to put a stop to the habit of randomly eating out or picking up something because we are too lazy to plan and prepare meals.

I'm right there with you on the fresh foods and outside time (maybe not so much the exercise , although I need to be). I was so going to miss my garden. And I found a local CSA that will bring weekly farm fresh produce to my door each week. And they told me where to go for fresh eggs too. And I found a farm for meats that is totally in-line with my beliefs. woot woot. I was so doing a happy dance yesterday. Today we sat on the back deck and I have windows open for fresh air. ahhh!
