OMG My kids sucked me into it. Such a creepy, twisted show!
I'm on episode 7

I read the book. Wasn't the best read ever and I couldn't fully buy into everything, but it kept my attention. I watched the first episode on Netflix, but probably won't watch more since I already know the outcome. Creepy and twisted is right.

It’s one of the best adaptations from a book I’ve seen.
Very true to the book in a way I really liked.

Watched it on Lifetime-probably even better on Netflix without the commercials. I liked it. Not my usual thing, but that’s probably why I liked it.

Yes, this show was great. I didn't know who to root for. Though I was kinda rooting for Joe (as twisted and crazy as he is).
The last episode is the best of the series, so well done! I cannot wait for Season 2 of this.
I've had the book for a year and still need to read it.

I’m on episode 6 and I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying it. Funnily enough, my elderly mother-in-law watched it first and convinced me to check it out. I never read the book.

It started off slow for me and the narration from the guy was annoying but it picked up for me in the middle and I really enjoyed it. The last episode was the best by far and the very last scene left me like WTF!? I hope a season 2 happens.

I watched it. I didn’t find it overly scary or creepy because there was a sort of humorous undercurrent. I liked it. 7/10

Very true to the book in a way I really liked. I disagree. I read the book and "liked" it - in a dark and twisted way. The book is MUCH darker and much more out there, lots of extreme language and Joe's thought processes are much more screwed up. In saying that I do think the book was well written and it gives some insight into the mind of someone like him. I think it should be compulsory reading for teenage girls as a warning. What might really be going through a guy's mind, how easily you can be spied on and tracked through social media and having a guy obsessed with you is NOT romantic...it's a warning sign to get away from him. The TV show is much lighter, Joe overall seems much nicer and we never see him do the really awful things that get described in detail in the book. The book makes it clear that he's a psycho stalker, the TV show waters that down considerably and makes him look like a basically nice guy who gets himself into some bad situations. I did like the show and I can see why they did that...a show where every second word is fuck or cunt isn't going to have the same broad viewing audience and therefore won't be as popular. I'd recommend the book (for it's genre, I gave it 5 stars on GR), but be aware that there is extensive swearing the entire way through, it's a not a light or comfortable read.

I thought it was just ok. Som3thing about it annoyed me, not sure what it was though. In the book I felt like the main character's use of technology was about 15 years behind (not credible for a young person IMO). I also felt like she did things that most people would not do.

I may have to wait a bit to read the book. LOL I think the reason I was able to keep watching is because it's not really very "dark" overall. This is not something I typically enjoy, so I'm not sure why I liked this so much (and watched the entire series in 24 hours! LOL), but I did. Som3thing about it annoyed me, not sure what it was though. I think what annoyed me about it is that I actually found myself "rooting" for Joe at times. Sick, I know! LOL In the book I felt like the main character's use of technology was about 15 years behind (not credible for a young person IMO). I also felt like she did things that most people would not do. There were a few technology things I thought were unrealistic. Like when you lose your phone and get a new one, don't you shut off your old one? I couldn't figure out how he kept her phone functioning for so long.

One last comment...for those of you who have watched the whole series, what did you think of the ending? I kind of hated it. Not what I wanted to see happen!

The series just came out September 2018 on Lifetime channel. Netflix bought the show, I think after the season ended and season 2 is currently filming.I haven't heard if there is a release date, except for later this year.

It was the ending of the book, so I knew it was coming/wasn’t surprised. What other ending would there be? For them to end up together? That would be even more fucked up. For her to escape so the story can just repeat itself with him stalking her for another season? It’s the only ending that makes sense and continues the story.

what did you think of the ending? I kind of hated it. Not what I wanted to see happen! What else could happen?? There's a book by John Douglas...the same (real life) FBI agent from the "Mindhunter" series, called "Obsession" and in it he covers real stalking cases. His view is that stalkers are not harmless, once men start stalking women...basically they have started on the path to murder, and many stalkers that people assumed where harmless will end up killing their victims. Mostly they only stop if they get arrested or killed, or they move on to another victim.
One of the cases in the book is Richard Farley, he used to bring his workmate Laura freshly made blueberry bread in the mornings, and when she went to the police no one took her seriously about his stalking because he was bringing her gifts and someone that baked you fresh bread is just a nice guy and she had an over active imagination.
Until he went into work one day armed with several guns and shot her and 10 other people, killing 7 of them. It was this case that started anti-stalking laws. Like when you lose your phone and get a new one, don't you shut off your old one? I couldn't figure out how he kept her phone functioning for so long. I think it's better explained in the book. She is portrayed as a bit ditzy and being careless with her belongings, she just assumes she's misplaced her phone and gets another one as a temporary measure until she finds the first one....so they are both still active. I'd bet there's lots of people (not only women) that don't properly deactivate old/missing phones and tablets correctly.

NO, I did not want them to end up together. I wanted him to get caught. LOL I know, that storyline wouldn't have made for a good season 2, but... I hate that he got away with everything, that the psychiatrist was framed, and that she died. I mostly hated that she died. And that he was able to make money from her book. I like happy endings. LOL
