So DH is battling metastatic rectal cancer that has spread to both lungs. We’ve been married 17 years this last Saturday. For 17 years, I’ve wanted a dog and he has been ADAMANTLY opposed. The last few months, he’s been saying he wants to get a dog. I think he’s lonely at home alone during the day. I’ve been saying “maybe when you’re up and around, I’m working 2 jobs, I don’t know that I can take on a puppy too”. He said “okay, you’re probably right”. So cut to last week, I was talking to a friend who I haven’t spoken to in a while. I mentioned to her that DH wanted a dog. She said “OMG! I know a woman who just had a litter and has a boy and a girl left”. So Saturday, I told DH I needed to run errands, DS and I went and met this woman. She has been breeding Lhasa Apsos for years. We fell in love with both of them but decided on the little boy. I emptied my $5 jar (Pinterest idea, every time you have a $5 bill, put it in a jar and let it accumulate until the end of the year, then buy something you want). DS named him Dakota, brought him home on Saturday and brought him in to DH (who’s pretty much bed bound) and said “Happy Anniversary!”. Dakota has not left his side. He was 14 weeks yesterday and thankfully was pee pad trained. I’m going to start working on taking him outside once he sees the vet on Friday and acclimates a bit more. Here’s the pictures I have of the cutie.    |

That much cuteness should be illegal! He is so pretty.
Prayers for your dh that he beats the cancer. I am sure Dakota will give your dh much love and happiness.

so sweet.  part of me thinks that your DH had a change of heart because he knows it the pup might be a good thing for you if well, things go badly for him. which is even more sweet and touching, tho I'm saying a prayer it doesn't work out that way. |

Dakota is a doll.  May we know your DH's name so that we can pray for him by name? I am so sorry to hear his diagnosis. I'm sure Dakota will be a big comfort to him especially since you have to be gone so much. |

Wow, what a sweet story but also sad too. I hope Dakota brings many hours and days of companionship to your DH and also to your whole family. A cute puppy will help keep some of the worry at bay and will replace it with some joy. Congrats on the new addition.

That puppy is the cutest thing ever! No wonder you fell in love. I hope it brings a lot of comfort and joy into your DH's daily routine! I will be saying prayers for his diagnosis as well!

Lhasas are beautiful. An old friend had one growing up and Ming was the sweetest boy. I loved that dog. I am sure yours will be wonderful for your husband. He may not big on dogs but your new family member will be a wonderful companion for him. Hugs! |

So sorry to hear all your DH is going through. I'm glad your new puppy is giving him and you some comfort. You dog looks just like ours did when she was a puppy, but she's a Shih Tzu....a cute little furball.
