OMG my friends were flying out of SeaTac to Houston today. Their flight departed over 8 hours late. They were in the plane and on the tarmac for at least 4 1/2 hours. Insanity! Ugh, I didn’t want to ‘like’ this, just acknowledge how much that would suck!! joblackford last night as I was sitting in the dark texting two of my sisters, they were laughing and joking that I should just snuggle with dh. They were both going to go watch TV. I told them to stop bragging that they had TV. A little later one comes back saying they lost power, the other said she was going to take a break from being a smart ass, just in case The one that lost power is on Rocky Point, the other one is in Port Orchard.

I measured last night before it turned into rain. I had 13.5” on my terrace Totally bummed that it’s turned into this sloppy mess. I was hoping for Colorado style sunshine after the snow and that it would slowly just melt away. Hey, one can dream! Stay dry girls!

They closed our school district today which NEVER happens. The guy that was supposed to pick up the vanpool van from our house (since my dh was at work plowing) tried to get into our neighborhood and tore the rear end of his car out because the snow was so high. So the vanpool van is sitting in my driveway and I can’t get out since I don’t have keys to move the van. (Such a bummer NOT! Lol)
My DS that is Airforce has a snow day. Non essential personnel were told to stay home. He’s lucky he is at a desk job right now since normally he’d be essential. He came down and helped me snowblow the part of the driveway that could be done, and he did the street in front of the mailbox since the postman won’t deliver if it’s too deep.
Supposed to get another 1-3” overnight and more the next 5 days. I’m over it! My lilies and tulips were already breaking ground because the weather had been so warm this winter. Hopefully this won’t affect them.

Started snowing again in my location. So thankful for the HOA hiring people to clear our small subdivision yesterday. It was worth getting woke up at 7am. The kids are loving the 15'mounds of snow piled on the corner lots. Now if my landscaper can get here to clear the 6" of snow off my side of the driveway I'll be a happy camper. Do you have one of those steep driveways? A person on the main dirt road hired out his plowing. The plower did a nice job on the driveway but mess up the road. Our neighborhood has really gone down in the friendly factor. My drive has a slope to it and there is a somewhat steep upgrade on one street. My street starts uphill at my house. The wind Saturday caused huge drifts so no one could drive. Landscaper did show up and as he left it started snowing again. A neighbor got home from and trip and came over this morning to clean it up even more.

Question. When was the last time your mail was delivered? It's been since last Thursday for me. I doubt they'll make it today either, but hoping for tomorrow.

We're close enough to downtown/the base that we very rarely lose power. I saw last night that there was a small outage in Rocky Point, plus a big outage from downtown and around Manette, another huge one from Naval covering all of Navy Yard City, and my friends in Illahee and McWilliams/Old Military were both out too. So pretty much two thirds of Bremerton was probably out. Not sure if my MIL in PtO made it through without a power cut. I doubt it. We would've been miserable without power. Do you have it back on now? We saw several bright flashes in the sky around 9-10pm, but we weren't sure if it was far away lightning with no thunder or perhaps some transformers blowing... eek! MichyM I don't think we've had normal delivery for a couple of days. We had a UPS truck (yesterday) and a USPS Amazon delivery (Sunday) but I haven't seen our mailman out. We're getting some rain and melting now, but tonight is going to be cold so tomorrow will probably be more dangerous than today. South Kitsap suspended all bus service, their roads are treacherous and they probably have a lot of downed trees too, and the rest of the area is on very limited service. Somehow I think my dental cleaning will be postponed again tomorrow...

Somehow I think my dental cleaning will be postponed again tomorrow... Yeah, we've had no UPS/FedEx since last week. I had several UPS packages scheduled for days ago that never made it, as well as a USPS package that appears to be stuck in limbo (who knows where) after it made it onto the truck on Friday. I have a chair being delivered by Crate and Barrel tomorrow morning. I've been waiting for it since the first week of November! I'll be curious to see if they actually brave the streets up here or if we'll have to reschedule. Sounds like your area was one of the hardest hit. I'm going to stay home again today, but am going to try and head out for some errands tomorrow afternoon. I think once I get out of my 'hood and onto arterials it should be fine.

MichyM in some ways we've had it pretty bad but I think a lot of areas are way worse off. Where I live at least is fairly accessible, even with 18" of snow! Good luck on getting your chair. Stay safe when you do go out! I think it's going to get worse before it gets better and the slush tends to bring out more dumbasses who don't realize they can't handle the conditions.

It is snowing here and we are expecting 25 cm today and tonight. They have canceled the 5 pm ferry and everything tonight. We are staying put on the island. I'm just watching a programme called the Islands of America and they have just been to San Juan island. Did I read that you don't live in Victoria now?

It was “fun” getting out of my neighborhood today. Between the still-deep snow, remaining ice, slush, and water, driving was like being on the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland . We haven’t seen a plow in three days, and probably won’t now. My Durango is doing very well in all this, but our next vehicle WILL be a four-wheel drive truck. That should please my husband. We’ve not seen the mail since Thursday. I received a notice Saturday that USPS had delivered something I was tracking, but they were misinformed because I checked this morning and nothing is there. ETA: I was wrong. I followed the plow guys back into my neighborhood just now. Bless them! I had to dig the entrance to my driveway out again after they passed but that’s a small price to pay for having cleared roads. There were several of my neighbors out working on their driveways and yards, and they were cheering the plow guys on like it was a parade .

We have 11 inches in the Renton Highlands. It's been snowing all afternoon. Sigh. No slush here yet. Here's hoping!

My parents live across the valley from you in MV and they got over 12" of new snow last night alone! So crazy! Rain, rain, rain here in my part of Pierce County. A good 10" of wet, thick, slush on the neighborhood roads.

The sun is trying really hard to peek through clouds in Seattle, its getting brighter out there. Can't believe it's still snowing in Renton. I knew it was up north, but not out there! BTW, luckyjune thanks so much for starting this thread. It's been nice getting to know WA state peas a little better these last 10 days. Also, since most people out of the area just don't fully "get" our thing with snow, I appreciate being able to chat about it with folks who understand .

I've really enjoyed checking in here too! While the rest of the country makes fun of us, we can at least talk to each other and understand! I think we are done with snow now, but no rain. The weather app still says we'll get more snow from 3am-9am tomorrow. I went out in the yard and freed a few trees from the snow. I hope we didn't lose our Witch Hazel!

I just saw some pictures from my brother and sister-in-law who live a little north of Monroe and they are up to 22" now. And my sis just outside of Monroe lost two small outbuildings to the weight of the snow. Crazy times!

It has FINALLY stopped snowing here. Kent has already called off school tomorrow. Our district is supposed to have made a decision by 4, but nothing yet. The conditions are no different than yesterday.
One thing for sure, being housebound saves us money! No gas, food out, running errands...

My husband works at MSFT and can work from home. Good thing he's holding down a paycheck!
