I put my grocery order in for tomorrow to pick up at Fred Meyer after work (live in Bellingham). I'm also taking my laptop and paperwork home from work tomorrow. Then at least I can biv-wack at home and still work and not have to go out!

hugs for all the Girl Scouts.. I know how much goes into annual meetings..ours is in April.. I got on the phone today to my 92 yr old dad.. told him get out and stock up on food.. he is good in snow, but I worry about slipping and other drivers!!! he is waiting for a plumber to fix his toilet, but they are running days behind on their schedule... he lives down at Madison park seattle.. I think he was going to the stores north of the canal, and not tackle capital hill...

I'm supposed to go to the Girl Scouts Annual Meeting on Saturday in Renton, but they are thinking about cancelling it. I was looking forward to it (and I'm getting an award!). Our only other commitment this weekend is communion prep on Sunday morning, but I've already told the person in charge that if the snow pans out like it is predicted, we likely won't be able to get out of our neighborhood. I did go to Costco today just because we were out of eggs, milk, and butter and picked up a few other things to get us through the weekend----dark chocolate salted caramels & frozen street tacos. We'll be good. ha ha! I am a delegate for my service unit, if we do have the meeting eventually you will have to let me know your real name so I can cheer for you even harder.

Let’s see if I can get this link to work from my iPad Iron Paws
This is my first year and we are very new to urban mushing. But we are having a great time and using strategy to make up for our lack of miles This sounds like a lot of fun. And I LOVE how laid-back it is No dogs here, but I'm very curious about your experience with it. I have had a blast doing it. I’ve gotten more confident scootering since we go out every weekend, met a bunch of new people and dogs and even an adorable Siberian Husky puppy. Our group run Saturday was in Eatonville and we had five regions represented, NW WA, SW WA, Oregon, Canada and one gal flew in from Kentucky (she’s from here). I did order some spike thingies for my shoes that should get delivered tomorrow. If I can’t run I will still try to get a few miles around the neighborhood.

I am already nervous about tomorrow. If it’s even half as bad as their predictions it’s going to be a mess, and then they’re predicting more for next week. Ugh!

We still have 6-8 inches in our yard in Woodinville. I ran to Safeway last night and it was a madhouse - everyone was there stocking up for this next round of snow coming Friday!

I got an extra order of groceries through Amazon Fresh last night--good thing I planned ahead, because they are now showing no deliveries available until next Tuesday! I also stopped by a consignment shop and bought snowgear for my toddler. Wasn't planning to get her any at this age, because we rarely have enough snow to do anything fun and we won't go to a snow park or anything until the baby is old enough to play, too.....but if I'm going to be home for 3-4 days (daycare closes when the public schools do, and they close for even 1/2 inch of snow), I want to have options of things for her to do!
This last week, we got about 2 inches of snow between SUnday and noon on Monday. Schools were closed until Wednesday, and opened 2 hours late that day! Too many hills here and no plows/salting/sanding available for most areas. I think the entire city has like 3 snowplows?

I'm a Seattle transplant in Dallas and I'm loving seeing all of my friends pictures of the snow on Facebook. And of course, the obligatory idiots driving down the Counterbalance even though it's closed!

I did a Whole Foods through Prime order last night, it’ll be at my place between 4-6 yay! However, I did stop by QFC on my way home a bit ago for Diet Coke.
Girls, if you haven’t been to the store yet, do it soon. Midday my store is pretty much a ghost town. Not so much today!

That said, hurray to SDOT. QA Ave opened back up by Tuesday morning

If my teenager is flying into Seattle tonight and staying until Sunday - is everything going to be shut down (it is her bday trip with her college roommate)? She is supposed to go to UW tonight & then will be in a hotel in Downtown Seattle Fri/Sat night. They had lots of plans for tourist stuff.

It really depends on whether we get the predicted snow or not, as well as how much. Staying downtown should be better than in the outlying areas since it’s right on Elliott Bay. Tell her not to assume anything is open and to call first. Also tell her to use the light rail to/from the airport and also to the UW. It should be unaffected by the weather.

They’ve already cancelled all school activities this weekend, starting tomorrow. I have an appointment in Tacoma in the morning and hopefully things will still be clear. After that I’m going to hit up Costco for some extra supplies and then dig in for the weekend . ETA: now I’m thinking I should hit the stores tonight .

I think tomorrow morning the stores will be even worse. However, if you’re south sound, it’s hitting there later in the day. Surprised that your schools are closed tomorrow. They’re doing early dismissal in Seattle.

The parking lots look like Christmas, and I’m in a line at Costco that I should have packed a lunch for - it’s going to be a while . Our schools aren’t cancelled, just all extracurriculars at this point. My kids usually get a part-day on Fridays, but tomorrow will be a full-day to try and make up some lost hours .

Dh took my car to Costco for gas and the line was seriously over a half mile down the street into the neighborhood!

So, I was thinking about when the snow is going to hit as I’m subbing (secretarial) at an elementary school tomorrow. I’m sure it will be busy with parents getting their kids out early to get home. Then both DH and DS tell me the snow is coming tonight through tomorrow. I’m like “NO”! I kept asking if they were sure. They both kept saying “yes, we heard it on the news”. I was thinking oh crap, I hope school gets called before we go in. The news came on a few minutes later saying the snow was indeed coming Friday through Saturday. I looked at both of them, kinda smiled/glared and told them they had me more worried than I was already. They swore they thought it was coming in early. I told them to watch out because I was going to get them. Stay warm and safe out there, Vicky

I braved Costco tonight. There were only a few carts available at the door. It was busy!! The checker said it started at 10 this morning and is finally slowing down (1 hour before closing). Many areas in the store were getting bare. There wasn't much left in the bread isle.

Ack, the road crew people are saying to stay off the roads, as they are trying to prep the roads for the big snow.

Went to fred Meyer tonight in Redmond because stores in Sammamish were picked bare. There was more available than I thought- I got almost the last milk! But no bread and almost no produce. I did get 2 packs of double stuff Oreos so that’s good! the grocery lines were LONG and there were no carts but I managed to snag one from a guy leaving. Luckily I get to work at home tomorrow. I just want to keep power. :::crosses fingers:::

My hospital director just sent out an email pleading those who live further away from the hospital, and who are scheduled to work this weekend, to try and find a room close by. I’m currently per diem status and only have to go in if I choose to, but I have a feeling I’m going to get that call at least once this weekend... ugh .

I love that all of you are as obsessed about the weather as as us Brits are, even if only temporarily 😀

I love that all of you are as obsessed about the weather as as us Brits are, even if only temporarily 😀 It’s all anyone is talking about at work and on social media. Desperate pleas for anyone who knows of a store selling snow shovels, rock salt, or sleds. I’ve seen several photos of empty store shelves and people upset because the person in front of them grabbed the last milk. I swear we’re stocking up like the apocalypse is coming. Last night I laughed a bit at how crazy everyone is being, as I stood in line buying more food than I’ve bought since Christmas when we had guests in town. Now, I have to get to work early today because I’m leaving at the first hint of a snowflake falling 😄😄
