Well all of our roads were declared closed! We have drifts around our house about 3 ft high. We can see our neighbors.
What the hell... we live in the desert! Not supposed to snow like this here. In 20 years I have not seen this type of snow here.

That’s really smart. I had no snow experience or lessons. It would have been really appreciated. We didn’t do any with our son either. The first year he was home over Christmas we had snow that lasted a week. He was really bummed that he couldn’t get out to see his other HS friends that were home for the holidays. gmcwife1 any big empty parking lots near you? She actually drove to work today. There was no reason for her to drive the first time she wanted to We see no reason to drive just because we’re bored. Our street this afternoon during our walk. You're killin' me....your dog <3 Still smiling.

One sledding in her neighborhood. And one of them canicrossed 12 miles

Well darn, our event tomorrow night at Pike Place Brewing has been postponed. They will announce by Wednesday the rescheduled date, hopefully not the next 2 weekends, we are out of town.

We are expecting a snowstorm tomorrow as I sit here in the dark. I do have candles burning so there’s that...

The storm is still as bad as it was. We could lose power again. I need today to be over. Tomorrow will be better.

Twins! I’m afraid it may be next week before we have power again. Darn, I’m sorry!! Thanks! I think we’re doing OK so far. The temps are showing 19 outside and 54 in the house. We don’t have any other inside sources of heat right now other than clothes, blankets, batteries, and chemical handwarmers, but we’re staying toasty. I’m actually throwing covers off (put one of those handwarmers under your covers and it generates some heat!). The hot water heater is still going strong, and I’ve been running a bit of warm water through the pipes all night to try and keep them happy. I just did a house check top to bottom and things seem OK - knock on wood .

Had a bonfire in the cul de sac last night while the kids were sledding. We could not get close enough to the fire pit! So cold!
DH made it to the airport this morning. Whew! He said the main roads were not too bad, but pre-check for security was way longer than he expected.
Weather report says it is supposed to start snowing around 3pm and continue on through morning. I'm guessing no school tomorrow.
Stay warm, everyone!

To those who have lost power, I honestly dont know how you’re managing. I lost heat just on my main floor earlier this week, and that was bad enough. I hope you get it back on soon!
Am I the only one so excited about this week’s forecast? I’d love to have more snow. Lots more. Snowshoeing out my front door is so much nicer than driving an hour to the mountains!

I agree with you on both! We have a fireplace but even then it doesn’t heat the whole house. And I always miss my coffee when we lose power! I’m loving the snow too. Since I’ve made peace with my change of weekend events, bring it on I work from home Mondays and Wednesdays so I’m fine working from home all week next week Today I need to make a birthday card for my ds and maybe a Valentines card for dh.

We have over 2 feet drifted snow. And it is still snowing.
The geese are able to move around in it but the ducks can’t. The chickens aren’t even coming out of their houses.

I’m not excited about the forecast. I’m actually a little panicky anticipating losing power. I have plenty of food and flashlights and a fireplace and I’m sure I’ll be fine but I’ve gone through stretches of being without power for days and it’s miserable.

If we didn’t still have hot water then no, we would be in a hotel room somewhere. The lack of heat is bearable and we all stayed warm last night. I have a great room with 2-story windows and lots of sunlight coming through right now, so that will warm things up some. And our cell service is still working fine so we have texting and internet access - the most important thing to my kids . I also have a nice dual propane/charcoal Webber grill, so when we’re all tired of sandwiches and cereal I can cook something up. I pre-cooked a bunch of pasta and meats so I just need to warm up some sauces and we can have a hot meal. I’m really not expecting to have power back before Thursday at this rate, not with two more storms coming, so that’s what I’m preparing for.

In that big 2004 storm we went 8 days without power. It was miserable. I am ready for the snow to melt! Wish the sun would stick around today and melt everything. People need their power restored, kids need to go back to school and I don’t want to go a 2nd week without my garbage being picked up.

Our power is out, I am charging my phone on the laptop, but suspect that will go out soon.
Estimate right now is power back tomorrow night, there's significant damage to the substation. With more snow due in, who knows?

My husband is plowing our road. There is no way we would be able to get out. Since it is a private road and the ashat who paved his part put in a speed bump, the city won’t plow any of it. Even though we pay the city for road maintenance.

Even though we pay the city for road maintenance. Wow, that must be infuriating! We were just informed by our HOA that without power the septic system in our development isn’t being pumped properly or something, so now we need to drastically limit our water usage. I’m still grateful we have hot water (or running’s water at all), but now we have to be careful how much we’re flushing and sending down the drains. Ugh. They are predicting our power should be back on tomorrow night. I’m not holding my breath...
